Palin Attends 139th Kentucky Derby (Updated)

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on May 4, 2013

Derby2013_PalinIt’s official. There’s been a Sarah Palin sighting at the 139th Kentucky Derby. The photo to the left was tweeted at 3:41 p.m. from the account of @Silly_Willy.

Breitbart News picked it up and published the following story:

A day after addressing the National Rifle Association convention, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is attending the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. No word yet on whether Palin has placed a wager on a horse or horses. There are a lot of great story lines at the Derby. “Frac Daddy” was named as a tribute to oil field workers. “Normandy Invasion” honors World War II veterans. A female jockey is riding “Mylute.” Trainer Todd Pletcher has saddled five horses. And Rick Pitino co-owns “Goldencents.” Jockey Kevin Kriggins, who will attempt to become the first black jockey to win the race since 1902, will ride that horse.  More

I tweeted my personal favorite, Normandy Invasion, to to the Guv.

Good luck to all riders and Happy Derby!

Sarah Palin is pictured below with her hostess Marylou Whitney.

Chuck Heath Sr: Sarah Palin & Siblings Developed Work Ethic Through Sports

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on March 15, 2013

Palin High School APMy friend Kevin Scholla has landed a position as a contributing writer over at Breitbart Sports and he has a fabulous piece that was published earlier today.  Kevin had the privilege of interviewing Chuck Heath, Sr. at which time they talked about all of the Heath kids, hard work, and the life-long value of playing sports.

From Breitbart Sports:

One thing Sarah Palin is known for is her toughness. In order to deal with her detractors and the lamestream media, she has to have thick skin. She has to be a pit bull with lipstick. A barracuda. No one has been attacked so personally and so consistently in recent years more than Governor Palin, yet through it all she keeps on keeping on with drive, passion, and that winning smile.

Palin’s incredible spine of steel and servant’s heart come from a foundation in faith and family, but perhaps her tenacity comes from somewhere else. Perhaps sports and all that comes with being a part of a team were the catalyst. Chuck Heath Sr., Palin’s father, seems to think so.

“Sarah worked and worked and worked,” Heath said. “Because of her terrific work ethic she became my best hurdler and went to state every year. In cross country she became my number one distance runner. She was very versatile.” More
