Gov. Palin speaks at Voter Values Summit in DC today (roundup)

Posted by Dr. Fay on September 26, 2014

Video retrieved from TheRedEye

Loved that latte salute!  Governor Palin spoke at the Voter Values Summit today, and that salute and Governor Palin’s use of 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue as the address for the White House were the takeaway lines for the mainstream media.  Governor Palin later humorously addressed her inadvertent error on Twitter:

Doggone it! That explains why my Christmas cards keeps getting returned! pic.twitter.com/j4M35K963i

– The Washington Times – Friday, September 26, 2014

Decrying the “lamestream media” and “Alinsky-lovin’” elitists, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called on attendees at the 2014 Values Voter Summit to help fundamentally restore America.

“It is time to stand and fight like your country’s future depends on it, because it does,” she said.

She derided “these Alinksy-lovin’, Orwellian, out-of-touch command and control elitists who’ve been running the show” who used to rail against big government — but have now actually become “The Man.”

“Their M.O. is to play the politics of personal destruction against anyone who they would deem a threat to their power,” she said.

[…]

She said Friday the left screams racism just to end debates and urged the crowd: “don’t retreat — you reload with truth.”

“We can survive this president — the question is, can we survive the people who voted for him a second time?” she said.

She told the “values voters” in attendance that they “scare the bejesus” out of opponents because voters in the audience value things such as life and equal opportunity — issues people can’t argue against.

“Friends, the accuser would say that you are the divisive ones, the media trying to say that our basic core values divide, that truth, liberty, and opportunity, and courage, and life,” she said. “Do they divide? Only under screwed up Orwellian leadership would they be considered as something to divide.”

But, she said, a positive, optimistic outlook is key.

“Go not as prophets of doom and fear, but messengers of vibrant life and real hope,” she said. “We are value voters. And our values were our founders’ values, they are America’s values. And our message is the message that America wants to hear and needs to hear.”

Fred Lucasa at The Blaze reports:

Sarah Palin Gives Obama Coffee Cup Salute in Passionate Speech

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took at jab at President Barack Obama’s coffee cup salute from earlier this week.

“Our honored military — when we talk about these national security issues, our honored military, on behalf of all Americans who do support you — and we honor you, we respect you,” the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said Friday speaking at the Values Voters Summit in Washington.

“On behalf of all Americans to your commander-in-chief, we then will salute him,” Palin said, raising a styrofoam cup, to laughter from the audience.

Palin mistakenly identified the address of the White House in providing advice of how to handle attacks form the left.

“Well, don’t retreat, you reload with truth – which I know is an endangered species at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue anyway, truth,” Palin said. “ The media’s favorite president, he just can’t stop telling lies.”

She also jokingly ripped media outlets for reporting about a divorce that isn’t happening.

She said her husband Todd jokingly said, “Is it still that same $20 million divorce? Well, write me the check.”

“It’s kind of tragic to say it, though, at this point, what difference does it make?” Palin said, clearly mocking former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.”We are used to it. Sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, we expect it.”

Palin also spoke in favor of abolishing the Internal Revenue Service.

Palin made news earlier this year when she advocated for the impeachment of Obama for executive overreach. While she did not mention impeachment in her speech Friday, she called Obama a “lawless and imperial president.”

Palin: Media’s Favorite President Just Can’t Stop Telling Lies

26 Sep 2014, 2:57 PM PDT

Friday in Washington D.C. at the Family Research Council’s 2014 Values Voter Summit, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) called on conservatives to “get back to work,” and “to save our country.”

Palin was on a roll as she mocked Obama‘s “latte salute,” slammed his “false promises and messianic oratory” and blasted his “dense liberal elite” attitude.

She rallied the audience saying, “All Americans, rich and poor, men and women, every race, every background, it is time to end the politics of division. The politics of demographics and identity groups under attack except distraction. So the status quo has got to go. United we will be able to stand.”

[…]

“The media’s favorite president, he just can’t stop telling lies,” Palin added. “You know, he just said that the Islamic State, ISIS isn’t Islamists. You know who that’s news to? The Islamic State who calls themselves Islamic and Muslims to join their death cult.”

Gov. Palin: Kansas, the choice is clear: Pat Roberts or Harry Reid?

Posted by Dr. Fay on September 25, 2014

Governor Palin campaigned for Senator Pat Roberts at a pancake breakfast in Independence, Missouri this morning.   Many think that the outcome of this particular race could determine whether the GOP wins a Senate majority in November.

Posted on Governor Palin’s Facebook page this afternoon.

Sarah Palin
——————

We enjoyed a gorgeous sunrise in the Sunflower state while driving to Independence, Kansas, early this morning – one year to the day that Kansas Senator Pat Roberts took a stand that changed our national debate. Remember through that night, Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee took their historic stand for all of us in their effort to fulfill campaign promises and defund Obamacare. Very few Senators stood with them, but Pat Roberts knew it was the right thing to do; so, this tried, tested, and true Kansas conservative charged the hill and also stood strong in service to his home state and all Americans!

It’s been a tough primary season, and now it’s time for Republicans, independents, and blue dog democrats to unite! Those who are concerned about the Obama/Reid failed liberal agenda that is “fundamentally transforming” the nation we love must rally around the primary victor and remember that the goal is to beat back the radical left’s agenda. Kansas, the choice is clear: Pat Roberts or Harry Reid? Voters today in Independence know enough about independents to know that the opponent in this race, Greg Orman, is not one. He’s donated thousands of dollars to Barack Obama and Harry Reid! He wanted them to do what they’ve done! He actually SUPPORTS the mother-of-all disastrous mandates, Obamacare; the guy actually SUPPORTS amnesty for illegal immigrants; he’s pro-abortion… the list goes on. No one with the liberal record of support for the most radical of Harry Reid’s agenda passes the straight-face test when claiming he’s just “independent.” Good try, Greg, but these sharp, hardworking, salt-of-the-earth patriots see right through the liberals’ game in coaxing the “I” after your name. The good people I met this morning say, “Of course, he’s a liberal, in sheep’s clothing.” One straight-shooting farmer hit it home when explaining, “I think he’s just full of bull.”

Senator Pat Roberts has fought hard in many ways. I was amazed at how many constituents he knew by name and their specific concerns about the direction of America and their state’s particular issues. So many thanked him for fighting for them in Washington and before that as a Marine. Once a Marine always a Marine! Kansas, please re-elect this good man. My only complaint is that when I pointed to his ranking as “The Third Most Conservative Senator,” he grinned in his own humble way and told me he’d seen a ranking that put him fourth. Comparing his consistent conservative record with anyone else’s, I insisted my research was right; so, my complaint is that this was the first argument I’ve ever had with a U.S. Senator while, literally, approaching the microphone together.

Kansas, please send this marine back to the hill! Thank you, Independence, for hosting such a fun and productive and inspiring day! In your beautiful museum with scrumptious Chris Cakes to serve his constituents, Senator Roberts and I agreed, it was a perfect pancake feed!

Here is the article by Tony Lee at Breitbart.com that Governor Palin linked to:

‘Wacko Birds’ Author to Palin: Hillary Wants to Be ‘Snapchat Candidate’ to Erase Her Past

In an interview with Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin at her Alaska home, Wacko Birds author and Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak said Hillary Clinton will try to be 2016’s “Snapchat candidate” because she desperately wants to erase her past.

Palin, who revolutionized the way in which social media sets the news cycle, invited Pollak–who worked with the late Andrew Breitbart, the new media pioneer who started one of the most prominent news outlets in the new media era–for a discussion about his new book. And the two surely discussed the importance of pop culture and non-legacy outlets in conservatism’s future, among many other topics.

Pollak, the author of Wacko Birds: The Fall (and Rise) of the Tea Party, mentioned that Barack Obama “emerged simultaneously with Facebook” in 2004 and candidate Obama in 2008 “was whatever Facebook users wanted him to be.”

“People could fill that blank space,” Pollak said of Obama’s crowdsourced campaign that employed some prominent former Facebook officials and ran circles around Hillary Clinton’s stodgier and more flat-footed apparatus.

Pollak said that younger people are using Snapchat to communicate because their messages expire soon after they are sent. Even potential 2016 candidates like Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) have adopted the new social platform, which Pollak noted was recently valued at $10 billion and appealing to younger people who want to send “naughty pictures that disappear.”

“Hillary Clinton Wants to be the Snapchat candidate because she wants to make her past disappear,” Pollak told Palin.

Palin observed that the Clintons have the “luxury of reinventing themselves as much as they want” because they have a compliant media that is more than willing and able to help them. That is a luxury, as Palin discovered, conservatives–and outsiders of all stripes in general–do not have.

After observing that today’s kids probably think Facebook and Instagram are passé, Palin, whose personal emails were once infamously hacked (the hacker eventually received a one-year jail sentence.), asked Pollak, “And do [Snapchat users] think it really disappears forever.” Palin’s right–the “snaps” don’t really completely disappear.

Palin and Pollak discussed how even regarding the most recent events involving Hillary Clinton, the media conveniently want to shove her failures–like Benghazi–under the rug. And they often ignore that Clinton was Obama’s Secretary of State whenever she jabs Obama’s foreign policy failures.

“Everyone forgets that she was in charge of that foreign policy for four years,” Palin said. “That was your territory. That was your department.”

Pollak told Palin he believed that “people want to forget because they want the fantasy of whatever it is she represents.”

But because of Matt Drudge, the late Breitbart, and the rise of social media that has amplified the voices of conservatives like Palin even more, it will be more difficult to whitewash Clintons’s record should she enter the 2016 presidential race.

Three years before Matt Drudge changed the news business forever by breaking Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky on his website, the Clinton White House feared that the Internet would weaken the mainstream media’s palace guards.

“Moreover, it allows an extraordinary amount of unregulated data and information to be located in one area and available to all,” a 1995 Clinton White House memo stated. “The right wing has seized upon the Internet as a means of communicating its ideas to people. Moreover, evidence exists that Republican staffers surf the Internet, interacting with extremists in order to exchange ideas and information.”

Palin, whom I dubbed the “Great CommuniTweeter,” praised Drudge in a 2012 speech, saying the naysayers who denounced the man “without a degree or a pedigree” for trying to “influence the national discourse” because they knew he “wasn’t beholden to the old media’s machine and the Thought Police.”

Drudge told the National Press Club a few months after breaking the Lewinsky bombshell that he envisioned a future “where there’ll be 300 million reporters, where anyone from anywhere can report for any reason. It’s freedom of participation absolutely realized.”

Palin told new media devotees that “you are the future he predicted!”

Drudge has now become the de facto assignment editor for the mainstream media reporters and editors who once lambasted his website. Similarly, political operatives, mainstream media writers, and everyone else in the permanent political class who mocked Palin for bypassing them and Tweeting to get her message out in 2009 now obsessively use Twitter, often compulsively checking in the first thing in the morning and right before they go to sleep.

As Pollak details in his book, since Obama was elected, the mainstream media have given favorable treatment to Occupy Wall Street while denouncing the more peaceful Tea Party movement. They combed through Palin’s records–and found nothing–while ignoring Obama’s past and his administration’s scandals–like the IRS’s targeting of conservatives. The media tried to amplify stories about anti-illegal immigration rallies that drew few supporters while fabricating the number of supporters at pro-amnesty rallies to make them seem larger and more powerful than they were. The media blamed Palin and the Tea Party for Gabby Giffords’ assassination attempt before they had any evidence about the shooter’s politics or motives. It turns out the shooter was apolitical and may have been offended that Giffords was cold to him at a previous event. That same media also blamed the Aurora, Colorado shootings on the Tea Party without any evidence whatsoever.

But new media outlets were also able to expose and combat these lies more ferociously than ever before. The late Andrew Breitbart, who worked with Drudge for many years behind the scenes, deftly used Twitter to maximize its “force multiplier” effect. And Pollak’s book details “the important role played by Andrew Breitbart and conservative new media in defending the Tea Party at several critical moments” in the Obama era.

But, as Pollak goes into depth in his book, Tea Party conservatives still face challenges even as they make plenty of advances in the new media era. If Hillary Clinton runs in 2016, the media will redouble their efforts to again elect one of their own. And much like Team Hillary will have to learn from Obama’s successes and failures, Tea Party conservatives must learn from their triumphs and mistakes in the Obama era that Pollak details in his book to combat the Hillary industrial complex.

Sarah Palin was right on the significance of Russia’s proximity to Alaska

Posted by Dr. Fay on September 15, 2014

Here is an editorial from the New York Sun shared with us by our friend Benyamin Korn, editor of the Jews for Sarah website who also writes at Algemeiner.

View From Wasilla?

Editorial of The New York Sun | September 1, 2014

“Palin Was Right” is the headline that catches our eye on the Daily Beast. It runs over an Associated Press dispatch, disclosing details of a long-ago program to prepare for an invasion of our northern territory by the Soviet Union. The AP has worked itself up into something of a swivet about this. To us the FBI looks ever more far-signed now that the Europeans are scrambling to see whether the Russians have actually invaded Ukraine and President Obama is admitting in respect of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria that he lacks a strategy.

Where is J. Edgar Hoover when we need him? He was apparently behind the program in Alaska. Between 1950 and 1959, the AP reports, the FBI “recruited and trained fishermen, bush pilots, trappers, and other private citizens across Alaska for a covert network to feed wartime intelligence to the military.” The idea was that when the Reds got across the Bering Straight, these agents would know of pre-placed caches of radio equipment and survival supplies and start transmitting intelligence back to our government. Smart. They could see Russia from their houses.

Governor Palin, of course, didn’t actually say “I can see Russia from my house.” That was Tina Fey parodying her reply to Charlie Gibson, to whom she said of Russia: “They’re our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska.” But Mrs. Palin did actually comprehend the significance of Russia’s proximity to America. The secret program AP reports on was codenamed “Washtub.” The wire advises that “with the benefit of hindsight, it would be easy to dismiss ‘Washtub’ as a harebrained scheme born of paranoia.”

Washtub, the AP says, reflected “genuine worry about Soviet intentions and a sense of U.S. vulnerability.” It notes that as the plan was being shaped in 1950, “Soviet-backed North Korea invaded South Korea, triggering a war on the peninsula that some in the Pentagon saw as a deliberate move by Moscow to distract Washington before invading Europe. The previous summer the Soviets stunned the world by exploding their first atomic bomb. Also in 1949, the U.S. locked arms with Western Europe to form the NATO alliance.” Plus Mao declared victory in China.

Tom Emmer (MN-6)

Career politicians in D.C. better start investing in “fight straps” before Tom Emmer gets there. This former hockey player, coach, and current hockey dad won’t have any patience for their “gross misconduct.” Tom is a proven conservative whose private sector and family experience have instilled the principles of hard work, free markets, and less government regulation. A fourth-generation Minnesotan, Tom runs the lumber business his great grandfather founded. As a husband and a father of seven Tom knows a thing or two about leadership! He’s pro-life, a supporter of our Second Amendment rights, and won’t be a “duster” in Congress. So, Minnesota, let’s work together to send Tom Emmer to Washington and put the career politicians in the penalty box!
