Ten Must-Have Apps for Sarah Palin Followers

Posted by ehvogel on March 6, 2011

I keep reading about this must-have app and that must-have app, so I decided to create a list for some creative entrepreneur that understands apps (my preference being Android). Here are my suggestions for 10 must-have apps for Sarah Palin followers:

1. Real time notices of Sarah Palin Facebook or Twitter postings. Sarah Palin followers just have to be the first to know about a new post.

2. Upcoming Sarah Palin media appearances. Whether it be Fox News or a simple radio appearance, real-time updates of coming appearances would be most helpful.

3. A register of new online polls regarding Sarah Palin. We like to vote for positive things regarding Sarah and need to know where to go to support her in any online poll.

4. Red Alerts for countering media bias regarding Sarah Palin and her family. We like to voice our opinions regarding Sarah to help counter any negative “hit piece” that is published about Sarah or her family. Links to comment pages would be a welcome thing.

5. Video archives of Sarah Palin appearances. We would like a depository of Sarah Palin videos that we could link to on our smart-phones to help counter real-time Sarah critics that we come across in our daily lives.

6. Sarah Palin’s favorite wild-game recipes. After all, you can only make Moose stew once in a while.

7. Sarah Palin quotes. She has coined or re-invented such fabulous terms as “death panels”, “going rogue”, “mama grizzlies”, “blood libel”, “a servant’s heart”, “lamestream media”, “refudiate” and others. We want to use these terms and would like instant access to new and existing ones, for whatever purpose. It would also be helpful to have links to the source where where she first used them.

8. Shoes. Okay, I throw this one out for all those wonderful ladies that notice another woman’s shoes. I suspect they might like to know what latest fashion Sarah is wearing on her feet, whether they be pumps or sloggers.

9. Sarah Palin media smack-downs. Okay, I know this could be included in #4 above, but it deserves its own app because we like Sarah’s feistiness and want to be the first to applaud it.

10. Smiles. Sarah Palin has one of the most magnificent smiles that has ever existed in a politician. We want to see every single one that comes across whatever media source runs it for a collective glimpse into her heart.

I could probably go on, but you get the idea. App-makers?

Reuters: Americans Most Want Sandra Bullock, Sarah Palin As Neighbors

Posted by Gary P Jackson on December 30, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

Online real estate marketer Zilliow.com surveyed American adults asking them who they would like to have living next door to them. As it turns out, Sandra Bullock and Sarah Palin topped the list coming in first and second respectively. The cast of Jersey Shore were voted “worst neighbors” in the polling.

From Reuters:

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Americans would most like to live next door to actress Sandra Bullock in 2011, but the cast of the reality show “Jersey Shore” made the most undesirable neighbors, according to a poll released on Tuesday.

Bullock, who has won huge audiences with her All-American, girl-next-door image, earned more than a quarter of the vote in the annual poll on the most desirable celebrity neighbors, conducted by online real estate marketplace Zillow.com.

She was followed by conservative Republican politician, Sarah Palin. That may bode well for people in Arizona as on Monday, headlines trumpeted the news that her daughter, Bristol Palin, had bought a home in the state.

President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha dropped three places to No. 4 on the list after coming out on top last year. They were proceeded by talk show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia DeRossi at No. 3. Rounding out the top five was talk show host Conan O’Brien.

You can read more here.

This comes on the heels of Sarah Palin being named to Gallup’s “Most Admired Woman” Top 10 for the third year in a row. For the ninth consecutive year, Hillary Clinton was chosen as the “Most Admired Woman” with Sarah Palin being chosen second for her third consecutive year in a row.

The Gallup poll asks those surveyed to choose both the most admired man and most admired woman living anywhere in the world.

You can see the full results of that polling here.

Pamela Geller Joins Sarah Palin As One Of The 10 Biggest Conservative Stand-outs Of 2010

Posted by Gary P Jackson on December 11, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

Pamela Geller is someone I admire greatly. She’s tough, smart, and as courageous as they come. Her website, Atlas Shrugs is one of the must read sites on the internet. Pamela is like a one woman army as she exposes radical Islam and the violence and death that comes with it.

Pamela has been the leading voice of opposition to the so-called Cordoba House Project, what I like to call the 9/11 Victory Mosque.

Students of history will tell you stories of the Islamic conquest of Cordoba, Spain, around 766 A.D., and how they took control of a Christian church and build a grand mosque in it’s place, as a symbol of Islamic dominance worldwide. You might say they were rubbing the noses of the conquered in their victory.

The Muslim extremists want to build the Cordoba House on the hallowed ground of the 9/11 attacks, right at Ground Zero, as a sign they have conquered America. To rub our noses in 9/11.

Pamela Geller has taken up the fight and said: “Not on my watch pal!

Right Wing News has chosen the Top 10 Conservatives who really made a difference in 2010. From their tribute to Pamela:

Pamela Geller: Pamela runs the pre-eminent anti-radical Islam website on the Internet Atlas Shrugs, she’s in charge of Stop Islamization of America and she had a new book out, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America.

However, Pamela makes this list because she, more than any other person, was on point in the fight against the mosque at Ground Zero. Right from the beginning she was organizing protests and drawing attention to the project. Meanwhile, she was falsely slurred and attacked by the Left, the mainstream media, and apologists for radical Islam. That was simply because she refused to stand by and say nothing while a celebratory mosque was built in the shadow of the Twin Towers. If the Ground Zero Victory Mosque isn’t ultimately built, no one will deserve more of the credit than Pamela Geller.

Back in October RWN’s John Hawkins interviewed Pamela. If you haven’t read it, please take the time to go here and do so.

Pamela is joined on by Sarah Palin on the list. They had this to say about their choice for the top slot:

Sarah Palin: It might be easier to ask: What has Sarah Palin not done this year? She was one of the most effective voices in the fight against Obamacare, she became a popular Fox News contributor, she just released a new book, she has her own TV show Sarah Palin’s Alaska, and she was a force of nature in the 2010 elections where she raised millions, swung primaries with her endorsements, and did more to get women candidates elected this cycle than anyone else in history. Say what you want about Sarah Palin, but nobody in American politics had a bigger and better year than she did in 2010.

We are proud to join Right Wing News in saluting Pamela Geller, one of America’s true patriots and a staunch defender of Liberty and Freedom.

GOP Taps Sarah Palin’s Endorsees For Help With Transition To Power

Posted by Gary P Jackson on November 9, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

The Republican Party has chosen three of Sarah Palin’s candidates to be party of the team that will help with the transition of power in the House of Representatives.

These new members of Congress are:

Adam Kinzinger of Illinois:

Tim Scott of South Carolina:

Martha Roby of Alabama:

From the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON — House Republicans have tapped two newly elected congressmen who drew tea party backing in their campaigns to help lead the party’s transition to power.

Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Tim Scott of South Carolina, who won endorsements by Sarah Palin and support from tea party activists, are part of a newly named 22-member team charged with crafting new rules and smoothing the GOP’s shift from minority to majority.

The team, led by Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon and headquartered in the basement of the Capitol, is to meet Monday night and Tuesday. It includes several seasoned veterans and influential members like 15-term Rep. David Dreier of California, in line for his second stint as head of the powerful Rules Committee, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, in line to head the Budget Committee, and Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas, the GOP campaign committee chief.

Rep. Doc Hastings of Washington, one of a large crop of GOP lawmakers who came to Congress 16 years ago, the last time Republicans seized control of the House, is part of the group.

Two other freshmen, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Martha Roby of Alabama, are also on the roster.

Walden said he didn’t choose the team based on whether they had tea party backing, telling reporters last week that he wasn’t sure whether those he was recruiting were supported by the conservative-libertarian movement. “It’s a nice cross-section of our Republican conference,” he said of the group.

But it’s clear Republicans are aware that the grass-roots movement that helped propel them to big wins in last week’s elections will be an important part of their new House majority and bolstered Senate minority.

Many of the newly elected Republicans are political novices, including a pizzeria owner and a gospel singer. All four first-termers on the transition team have some degree of experience in elected office; Scott and Gardner have been state legislators while Roby has served as a city councilwoman and Kinzinger on a county board.

Christine O’Donnell: Sarah Palin Most Admirable Living Politician, Has A Spine Of Steel

Posted by Gary P Jackson on October 14, 2010

Vodpod videos no longer available.

By Gary P Jackson

This is a little snippet from an interview Christine O’Donnell gave Greta a few days ago. Greta asks her which politicians she admired, dead or alive. Christine answered Ronald Reagan and of course, Sarah Palin. Christine goes on to elaborate why.

Thanks to Sheya at PalinTV

In case you missed the interview with Greta:

Funny, she doesn’t come off insane does she? You think maybe the corrupt lamestream media may have been lying to us?

Christine has a solid grasp of foreign affairs. She understands what needs to be done.

Her idea to give military vets vouchers for routine care, so they don’t have to travel long distances to see a VA doctor, is brilliant. It will save everyone money, and free up the VA for more serious cases.

You can read more about that here.

Christine is a rock solid Conservative and will make a fine Senator. If you are looking for a candidate to help out, to get involved with their GOTV efforts, visit her website and volunteer.

Follow Christine on Facebook and Twitter as well.

Remember, this is a special election and Christine O’Donnell will be the only thing stopping the lame duck, and soundly defeated, democrat controlled Congress from passing some dangerous legislation like cap and tax, or amnesty, as a parting shot to you ungrateful voters who are throwing them out!

ABC Television, A Class Act: Yet Another Media Lie About Sarah Palin Debunked

Posted by Gary P Jackson on September 29, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

If you’ve been paying attention, the corrupt, left wing, lamestream media in this country hit a new low last night. As Both Stacy Drake and I wrote about here and here, after Jennifer Grey and her partner, Derek Hough, put on a thrilling performance Monday night, many in the audience were upset that the judges didn’t give them higher scores. As the last judge’s score was given, many erupted, booing quite loudly.

For the record, I thought she got hosed too, and as we now know, so did Sarah Palin, as she was booing as well!

As it happens, and you will see in the video above, while all of this was going on, and Brooke Burke was interviewing Jennifer and Derek, co-host Tom Bergeron was crossing the dance floor to get ready to introduce Sarah.

Now anyone who actually watched the show on Monday night, heard the crowd cheer loudly when Tom introduced Mama Grizzly. If there was gonna be boos, that would have been the time to make it happen.

In fact, every time Bristol and Mark were shown the crowd cheered loudly as well. Bristol and Mark are clearly favorites of both the fans, and the judges, and rightly so. They are doing a great job, as we wrote here.

This should put an end to this nonsense, but sadly, the crazies on the left are already analyzing this modern day Zapruder Film frame by frame. The conspiracy theories are being thought up as I type this. All we need now is a budding young Arlen Specter with a “magic boo” theory and we’ll be all set!

All I can say is ABC and Dancing With The Stars, and the people who produce these shows, are all class acts. They have gone out of their way to point out the lies coming from the corrupt lamestream media, and correct the record.

One thing about this little episode. Over 20 million people, normal, every day people, saw first hand just how far the corrupt media in this country will go to lie about Sarah Palin, even with the most insignificant of things.

That’s 20 million moms and dads and kids who may have never been exposed to the corrupt, limp, impotent losers that make up the lamestream media before. Or at least may have never realized they are lied to on a daily basis by these nimrods.

That’s 20 million people (plus) who will now think twice before believing the next smear against Sarah, or anyone else targeted by these useless “journalists.

That’s a good thing.

You Know … Bristol Palin Really Is A Great Dancer

Posted by Gary P Jackson on September 29, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

You know, if someone told me a few months back I’d be watching a show about ballroom dancing, let alone writing about said show, I would have laughed in their face. My entertainment generally includes 8000 horsepower nitro burning engines going down the quarter mile, and I write about politics and the shape our nation is in, because I feel that is what matters.

One of the cool things about being a Sarah Palin supporter is you never really know what’s coming next. There is always so much excitement surrounding Sarah, and so many opportunities. Now we can add Bristol Palin to the mix.

Bristol, sans Ricky Hollywood, is quite an interesting person in her own right. We’ve all witnessed some of the hard times, the craziness caused by her unfortunate time spent with professional leech, Levi Johnston, but Bristol has gotten past all of that and really stepped up.

As a single mom, she’s worked like everyone else, earning a paycheck to support her son, but having such a high profile and well respected mother has opened up some other opportunities as well. Bristol has had the opportunity to advocate for causes she cares about, and has recently taken to the lecture circuit, like mom, and is giving speeches to groups and sharing her message.

Then came Dancing With The Stars.

I wasn’t sure what Bristol was capable of. I watched the first installment and frankly was quite impressed. For someone who had never danced, I thought she was more than acceptable. Doing this in front of a live audience is tough, but knowing over 20 million people are also watching, well, that’s intimidating. Her performance was quite good.

Of course, this is a team sport, and man, Bristol couldn’t have gotten a better partner in this deal. Mark Ballas is an incredibly talented guy. He’s a great dancer, and an even greater teacher. He is incredibly patient, and really takes care of Bristol.

I was struck by one thing watching this week’s show, as well as last week’s. With a lot of the couples, there is a tad bit of tension. This simply doesn’t seem to exist between Bristol and Mark. There is a serious chemistry there. Good chemistry is needed for a team to work well, no matter the sport.

It was simply a delight to watch Bristol and Mark dance this week. They are quite beautiful together. Technically they were perfect, but past that, they were exciting, even playful. You could tell both Bristol and Mark were really enjoying the dance, and the footwork was just incredible.

During the judging portion it was said that Bristol should learn a bit more about acting, for the performance. I totally disagree. Bristol and Mark do so well together that if one didn’t know better, you’d think they were an item. That’s how much chemistry they have together, and how much fun they are obviously having.

How well did they do? Well, last week they scored mid pack with an 18 out of a possible 30 points. To put that in perspective, the top score was Jennifer Grey’s 24. This week Bristol and Mark scored a 22. That’s a 4 point jump in the scoring, a HUGE improvement. Most dancers either stayed the same, or scored less than last week.

Their performance was exciting and beautiful.

There are several good teams in this deal. Jennifer Grey, for example, is simply marvelous. She really is spectacular. Mark Warner is doing well, mostly because his partner is so good, and so fun. However, no couple has that spark that Bristol and Mark do. They’ve made this hairy legged old boy a fan of ballroom dancing!

Of course, Monday night’s show wasn’t without controversy, ginned up by the corrupt lamestream media. If you were following out Twitter feed late, you know what I mean.

The audience booed the judges several times during the night, mostly for remarks they made to the dancers. The really loud booing came after Jennifer Grey danced. Jennifer again had the high score of the night, a 24, but everyone clearly thought she deserved more, including me. It was quite clear that Jennifer put every ounce of her soul into that dance. The boos were long and loud.

Enter the corrupt, lamestream media. Before the show was even over all of the radical lefties were reporting the crowd was booing Sarah Palin, an out and out lie.

Of course, this was the headline of the day today. The corrupt media choosing this, rather than the FBI probe of Barack Obama’s best buddy, SEIU union thug, Andy Stern, the person who has visited the White House more than anyone since Obama has been in office.

A huge scandal, with one of Barack Obama’s closest advisers, by clearly, lying about Sarah Palin was more important to these corrupt losers.

Stacy Drake covered this very well here.

Our friend Sheya at Palin TV put together a video of clips from DWTS as well as the Entertainment Tonight’s visit to Wasilla. As you watch the video above, you’ll see Sarah introduced to cheers, not jeers. One would thing if the malcontents that were supposedly booing Sarah, were going to do it, that would have been their day in the sunshine.

When Bristol and Mark were introduced for their dance, the audience cheered loudly, and cheered several times during the performance. Like the judges, the audience really likes these two …. a lot.

My take-aways?

1. At this point the corrupt media has become a joke. They are so partisan, so ridiculous, and frankly, so afraid, they can’t even control themselves long enough to report honestly on a friggin’ dance contest.

2. Bristol Palin really can dance. Like her mother she is a quick study. She and Mark are a delight to watch. Just plain good stuff. These two are serious contenders for the win. Jennifer Grey will be tough to beat, she’s a great dancer and there is a sentimental connection with a lot of folks, but if any team can beat her and her partner, it will be Bristol and Mark. They have really captured America’s imagination.

Thanks again to Sheya at PalinTV for putting the video together.

Susannah Fleetwood: 6 New Rules to Fight the Left: Bring Out the Mama Grizzly

Posted by Gary P Jackson on September 26, 2010

By Gary P Jackson

It’s no secret that the left hates women. Much like minorities, the left tolerates women because they need the votes, but deep down, they can’t stand ‘em, especially conservative women. The women on the left hate other women as well. The diseased ideology of the left trumps all: Race, religion, nor gender matter not to this bunch. You either conform, or else. The left does not tolerate dissent.

Sadly, many males, so-called conservative males, have lost their mojo. They have become timid. Too afraid to stand up for themselves, let alone the ladies among us. This lack of testicular fortitude among our male “leaders” has really come into the spotlight since 2008, and the introduction of Sarah Palin to the nation.

No one in recent memory has inspired such hatred from the elites, both on the left and on the right. They simply can’t stand the fact that this woman, with a true pioneering spirit, has become one of the most powerful people in the nation. It kills them that Sarah Palin has risen to the top levels of power, and yet has never been to the “right” schools, or joined the “right” clubs. My goodness, she didn’t even have the decency to murder her unborn child when she found out he had Downs Syndrome. That just won’t do!

Of course Sarah wasn’t the first, nor will she be the last person of integrity, male or female, who is attacked by the elites. Unable to compete in the marketplace of ideas, Marxist-democrats, and establishment Republicans are reduced to sounding like grade school children, hurling insults at their opponents, and trotting out inconsequential events from decades past.

The latest to attract the ire of the radical left and the Republican elites is Christine O’Donnell, a solid conservative, who, while never holding office, has spent years working and advancing conservative causes.

The attacks have gotten insane. Simply insane.

Of course, the real reason women like Sarah Palin, Christine O’Donnell, Nikki Haley, and Sharron Angle are being portrayed as “sluts and nuts” is because they are strong, conservative leaders. The elites in both parties know the rise of constitutional conservatism is being fueled by women. Women who are pissed off, and ready to clean house! They are direct threats to both the stranglehold the radical left has on our Republic, as well as the weak, go along, get along elites in the Republican Party. And as we have seen, the Republican elite doesn’t give up it’s power easily, even when defeated in an election!

In short, the only ones with any cojones are these conservative women.

They mad as hell at the direction this country has taken, and actively doing something about it. They are sick and tired of the BS from the left, and the Republican elite.

Susannah Fleetwood has penned a great piece taking these losers head on, and issuing a call to go all “Mama Grizzly” on those who would attack women with hateful nonsense, rather than debate the issues.

Fleetwood starts with scum bag Bill Maher:

Most people who didn’t live in a cave are probably somewhat familiar with the left’s recent attacks on Christine O’Donnell. First, it was that she was against masturbation in 1995, now it’s that she dabbled in witchcraft when she was in high school. (No, seriously, I’m not making this stuff up–these people are just that pathetic.)

Now, granted, Bill Maher (the man who first engaged in this attack on O’Donnell) is obviously trying to paint Christine O’Donnell as crazy or out of the mainstream, by implying that she’s some sort of a secret witch. (Wait–I’m confused. First she was a radical Christian who was against masturbation, and now, she’s a witch? Which one is it?) However, Bill Maher is one to talk about others being out of the mainstream. First of all, this guy is perpetually surrounded by a coterie of skanks, and his look is free-clinic chic, to say the least. Second of all, Maher dressed up as the Crocodile Hunter for Halloween, after the guy had tragically died from a stingray piercing his heart. To say that was “in bad taste” is the understatement of the millennium. And finally, Maher referred to Bristol Palin as a “Hillbilly Heroine” on his TV show.

So, my response to people who say that we should take Bill Maher’s accusations of witchcraft seriously: really? We should listen to this degenerate with regard to which candidates we support?! (No I’m not shouting–I’m growling.)

However, this story has now gotten a lot bigger than Bill Maher or Christine O’Donnell–and if you will all bear with me, I will explain exactly what I’m talking about.

Fleetwood is just getting wound up!

This is a long, but excellent dissertation. An absolute must read. Check it out here.

BTW, this doesn’t just apply to women. Conservative men get attacked as well, and the same excellent points Fleetwood makes in support of women, also apply to us dudes.

Simply put, we must no longer tolerate the attacks against us. This is war. A war for the very soul of our nation. The “turn the other cheek” way of doing things won’t work with these people. They are ruthless. They never stop attacking, ever.

Fleetwood takes a chapter from The Untouchables in her piece, recalling Sean Connery’s Malone explaining the “Chicago Way” to Kevin Costner’s Eliot Ness:

Here’s how you get ‘em. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue.

That’s the Chicago way!

This is the attitude we must adopt. (metaphorically, of course) Remember those attacking conservative women, and men, are the enemies of Freedom and Liberty. All they have to offer is tyranny and enslavement.

It’s time to take the gloves off and fight back. Go all Mama Grizzly on their sorry behinds!

“Sarah Palin Kicked The Door Open, And A Lot Of Women Started Going Through”

Posted by Gary P Jackson on August 27, 2010

There’s an unsettling of the political apple cart. Sarah Palin kicked the door open, and a lot of women started going through.

~ Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List

By Gary P Jackson

An interesting piece from Yahoo News:

NEW YORK – The suffragists who 90 years ago won voting rights for women would likely shake their heads in wonder at this election, with its “mama grizzly” candidates and high-stakes woman-vs.-woman showdowns.

The women in key races include a rancher and three multimillionaire former CEOs, one a pro wrestling magnate. Two frontier states — Oklahoma and New Mexico — seem assured of electing their first female governor after both major parties nominated women.

Note: Susanna Martinez, the Republican nominee for New Mexico Governor is endorsed by Sarah Palin, as is Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, the Republican Senate candidate in California, who is about to clean Barbara Boxer’s clock.

Yet in spite of celebrations planned Thursday for Women’s Equality Day, marking the adoption of the 19th Amendment in 1920, American women’s share of high-level political power still lags behind scores of other nations.

Women hold only 17 percent of the seats in Congress — well below Europe’s 22 percent and far behind the Nordic countries’ 42 percent — and the major parties have yet to nominate a woman for president. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign for the Democratic nomination in 2008 collected 18 million votes but still fell short of victory.

The handful of women that you see near the top is just that a handful,” said Erin Vilardi of the White House Project, which seeks to expand women’s role in politics.

At the congressional level, both parties have a hell of a lot of work to do,” Vilardi said. “The culture is still very dominantly male.”

Among the notable developments in this year’s campaign is the emergence of numerous charismatic, conservative women running as Republicans.

In California, wealthy businesswomen Meg Whitman, the ex-CEO of eBay, and Carly Fiorina, ex-CEO of Hewlett-Packard, are the GOP nominees for governor and Senate.

Fiorina is the first Republican woman to take on the Democratic incumbent, Barbara Boxer, since Boxer entered the Senate in 1992, and the race has captured national attention.

In South Dakota, the race for the state’s lone House seat pits the incumbent Democrat, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin, against Republican legislator Kristi Noem — both of them working moms who grew up on farms. Noem, who helps her husband run a ranch, is one of several GOP woman candidates dubbed “mama grizzlies” because of traits shared with Sarah Palin, the party’s 2008 vice presidential nominee and a political star who’s been doling out endorsements this year.

In Minnesota’s 6th District, the conservative Republican incumbent, outspoken Tea Party favorite Michele Bachmann, is being challenged by Democratic State Sen. Tarryl Clark in what could be one of the nation’s most expensive House races.

Michelle Bachmann will see an easy win here. She will be one of the leaders in the new Congress for sure. She also has Sarah’s support.

In New Mexico, Democrat Diane Denish, the lieutenant governor since 2003, is competing for governor against the GOP’s Susana Martinez, a Latina district attorney who has drawn attention for her tough stance on illegal immigration.

In Oklahoma, Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin, who’s been endorsed by Palin, is favored in the governor’s race over Democratic Lt. Gov. Jari Askins.

According to the Center for American Women in Politics at Rutgers University, there have been only two other woman-vs.-woman gubernatorial contests in U.S. history — in Nebraska in 1986 and Hawaii in 2002.

Florida could join New Mexico and Oklahoma is electing its first woman governor — if Democratic nominee Alex Sink can win in November.

One of the most distinctive female candidates is the GOP nominee for U.S. Senate in Connecticut, Linda McMahon, former CEO of the World Wrestling Entertainment empire that she and her husband developed. McMahon, who says she’ll spend up to $50 million of her own money on the race, was nicknamed “Crotch-kicker” in a statement from the Democratic National Committee.

In Colorado, the issue of male chauvinism surfaced in the campaign for the GOP Senate nomination. Ken Buck — a prosecutor with a strong Tea Party following — prevailed despite criticism for saying he should be backed over rival Jane Norton “because I do not wear high heels.

Sarah had endorsed Norton. It’s obvious to see why she backed Norton over Buck, despite the Tea Party. Sadly, Buck will just be another “good old boy” establishment hack.

Worldwide, women hold 19 percent of the seats in national legislatures, according to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Its rankings of 186 nations — based on percentage of women in the single or lower chamber of the legislature — has the U.S. tied for 90th with Turkmenistan.

Women have held the top government post in dozens of countries — including Germany, Britain, Australia, Argentina, Israel, India and Turkey.

Several Women’s Equality Day events are planned across the country Thursday.

In California, a great, great, great granddaughter of suffragist leader Elizabeth Cady Stanton will address a rally near the statehouse in Sacramento. In New York, the Susan B. Anthony List — it backs female candidates opposed to abortion — will host a forum on “pro-life feminism.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, said the surge of women running as anti-abortion conservatives reflected a “war over who gets to define what feminism means.”

There’s an unsettling of the political apple cart,” Dannenfelser said. “Sarah Palin kicked the door open, and a lot of women started going through.”
