Palin: May the People of Israel Know Peace

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on September 13, 2013

Sarah Palin extends Yom Kippur wishes via her Facebook page:

My best wishes to the Jewish community today as Yom Kippur is celebrated. This is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holy days wherein we’re reminded of humanity’s timeless struggle for peace and justice in a world in need of redemption. May we never cease striving for these ideals, may we never lose hope in the ultimate goodness of God, and may we always seek His unearned mercy and grace. It is amazing that He miraculously and freely gives to those who ask and accept.

I received such a meaningful gift yesterday from friends in New York. This photo shows the rose they sent me; it’s handcrafted out of the remains of rockets fired at Sderot and other Israeli communities from Gaza. The sculpture represents people who grow roses from rockets, “creating beauty from ashes,” representing an Israel that has endured so much. May the people of Israel know who their friends are, and may they know peace.

Palin: May We Never Forget

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on April 8, 2013

Sarah Palin takes time to remind us of Holocaust Remembrance Day.  From Palin’s Facebook page:

May we never forget.

Palin then linked to this story from the Jerusalem Post:

Israel prepares for Holocaust Remembrance Day

Preparations are underway across the country for the observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, which begins on Sunday evening.

The central theme of this year’s ceremony is defiance and rebellion during the Holocaust, Yad Vashem announced, marking 70 years since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Memorial activities will begin with a state ceremony at Yad Vashem’s Warsaw Ghetto Square at 8 p.m., during which President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will deliver addresses. Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird will also be in attendance.

Yad Vashem chairman Avner Shalev will light a memorial torch, followed by Holocaust survivors Otto Pressburger, Eliezer Eizenschmidt, Miriam Liptcher and Baruch Kopold who will light torches. Sima Hochman will light the first torch in place of her husband, Peretz, who passed away last week. More.

Palin: Best Wishes for Passover

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on March 25, 2013

star-of-david-necklaceAs Jews begin to celebrate Passover and Christians celebrate Holy Week, Sarah Palin posted the following message of “good wishes” to her Facebook page:

Todd and I and our family send our best wishes this evening as Jewish people around the world celebrate Passover, commemorating their deliverance from bondage and their Exodus to the Land of Israel. This timeless and beautiful story reminds us of the universal human aspiration for freedom and that the Almighty hears the cries of a suffering people and fulfills His promises. Chag kasher V’Sameach. Happy Passover. And next year in Jerusalem.

And yesterday, Palm Sunday, was the beginning of the holiest of weeks for Christians. During this time, we honor the sacrifice of Jesus, reflect on amazing grace, and celebrate resurrection power!

“And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.” –Mark 11:8-10

Sarah Palin: Best Wishes for the Jewish High Holidays

Posted by Adrienne Ross on September 24, 2009

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

A mark of true leadership is recognizing cultural practices that are unique and precious to people. Sarah Palin recognizes and honors our Jewish Community. Read her Facebook note below:

Todd and I would like to offer our best wishes to the Jewish community as they celebrate the High Holy Days. With the celebration of the Jewish New Year this week and the observance of the Day of Atonement next week, we are reminded of the hopeful commitment to renewal and peace exemplified by the Jewish tradition and the Jewish people throughout history.

Yom Kippur, the most solemn and important of the Jewish holy days, is a time of reflection and supplication for forgiveness. The timeless human struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace is seen here in this process of atonement – in humbly seeking pardon for past wrongs in the hope of a new beginning. It reminds us that if we wish to co-exist globally, we must all strive for forgiveness and tolerance.

A speech was given at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday that was full of hateful anti-Semitic rhetoric. It was a shameful display before a body whose very charter is premised on the need for co-operation and harmony in pursuit of peaceful co-existence between nations. Such talk was especially abhorrent coming as it did during the Jewish High Holidays. The world community must speak with one voice in declaring anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance and racism utterly unacceptable. There is no place in the community of peace-loving nations for those who traffic in hate or deny the terrible atrocity of the Nazi Holocaust.

In this holy season, we join the Jewish people in the struggle to promote justice, harmony, and peace. May God bless them.
