Writer/producer Stephen K. Bannon appeared on Fox and Friends Friday morning and had this to say about the making of “The Undefeated”

SarahPAC Statement on Game Change

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on March 7, 2012

There used to be a commercial for Memorex cassette tapes (yes, I know I’m dating myself here) which posed the question, “Is it live or is it Memorex?” with the obvious point being that the closed-eye listener would never know the difference between the recording and the live version.  HBO’s “Game Change” is being promoted as a historical docudrama and is suggesting that the film presents the facts of the 2008 campaign even though it’s based upon unnamed sources.  SarahPAC recently released a video entitled “Game Change You Can Believe” with actual, not fabricated, footage from that historical election cycle.  You may recall seeing that video here when it was posted last week.  On the other hand, HBO’s “Game Change” relies upon 25 unnamed sources, making it neither “live nor Memorex”.

The following was posted to the SarahPAC website earlier today:

Despite HBO’s best efforts, we have all seen the movie Game Change. We stand by everything we previously said on the record. The movie is at best “historical fiction” – historical only in that Sarah Palin was nominated and campaigned for the office of Vice President. The movie is a series of scenes where the dialogue, locations and participants are invented or rendered unrecognizable for dramatic effect. HBO and its surrogates continue to argue that they spoke to 25 sources. None of them are on the record nor is their level of “involvement” in the campaign disclosed. Not one source is on the record in either the book or in the movie and it is clear why. The authors of the book never even traveled on the campaign with Governor Palin. We call on HBO to add the fiction disclaimer.

Palin: Reelz Acquires “The Undefeated”

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on February 21, 2012

From Variety:

Reelz Channel has acquired TV rights to Stephen Bannon’s Sarah Palin documentary “The Undefeated” and will premiere it on March 11, just a day after HBO debuts “Game Change,” the adaptation of the best selling book chronicling the Alaska governor’s entrance into the 2008 race.

The two projects will certainly be a study in contrasts: “The Undefeated,” which had a theatrical and pay-per-view run last year, is a reverential look at Palin, from how she took on the good-old-boys club of Alaska politics to her battles against the entrenched media and Beltway establishment as she rose to national prominence. Palin attended the film’s premiere last summer in Iowa.

“Game Change” is based on the 2008 campaign tome by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, but the HBO movie focuses on the drama surrounding John McCain selection of Palin as his running mate. More

SarahPAC: Here They Go Again…

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on February 17, 2012

By now you have probably seen the advertisement on television for the HBO film “Game Change” which is based upon a book bearing the same name.  It goes without saying (but i will) that this film is yet another attempt to  portray Governor Sarah Palin in a negative light.  Interesting.  Some three and one-half years after her unsuccessful run for Vice President of the United States and after declaring Palin as irrelevant at every turn, somehow it is STILL necessary to defame her record. This definitely falls under the category as “things that make you go hmmmm”.

Today, SarahPAC posted the following in response to “Game Change”:

“I haven’t seen HBO’s latest effort at manipulating history. However, based upon the description and reports from people who have viewed the film Game Change, HBO has distorted, twisted and invented facts to create a false narrative and attract viewers. They call it a docu-drama, there is little “docu” in it. HBO must add a disclaimer that this movie is fiction.” -Tim Crawford, Treasurer SarahPAC

Pay channel HBO has produced another docudrama based on the political arena. This time it is a subscription-only television movie sensationalizing 40 pages of a three-year-old book about the 2008 presidential election. The real 2008 Election was an incredible, moving experience that brought together the nation to celebrate our democracy. HBO has taken that experience and twisted it into tabloid drama for its own profit.

The docudrama Game Change has not been released, but the content and clips available and scenes as reported by the media make it clear that HBO studio heads decided they would generate more profit by inventing facts and scenes for the purpose of fictionalizing a history written by people with no personal knowledge of the situations they attempt to depict.

After viewing the Game Change trailers purporting to show actual events from the campaign, we sifted through over 2,000 behind-the-scenes photos of actual events, people and moments.

Below is an inside look at those moments which were captured from September to November 2008 and encompass over 95 rallies in 19 states, three major policy speeches, numerous town halls, four meetings with Blue Star Moms, two hockey games and as many unscheduled stops as we were able to fit in the schedule.  More

Oh, and if you’re interested in a real game changer of a film, I highly recommend “The Undefeated”.

Palin’s Grit, Tenacity and Fortitude

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on November 21, 2011

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Stephen Bannon, speaking with him and listening to him discuss the making of “The Undefeated”.  Someone unfamiliar with the making of “The Undefeated” would, most likely, assume that Sarah Palin was heavily involved in the making of the film and influencing its outcome.  She was not.  In fact, you’ll notice in Bannon’s “Grit, Tenacity, and Fortitude” article he specifically mentions filming and observing from a distance but not meeting Palin.  For a documentary film, this might, at first glance, seem odd to some.  I say it lends for a more objective weaving of the story Bannon tells in “The Undefeated”, one of “Grit Tenacity, and Fortitude”.

From Human Events:

I repeatedly get asked: “Why would you make a movie about Sarah Palin–what could we possibly not already know about her?”

The answer is quite simply, “everything that’s important.”

Sarah Palin is what I describe as a “McLuhanesque” figure—one of the most media-saturated people in the world, relentlessly covered by the 24/7 news cycle, yet her real story is there hiding in plain sight, never having been told.

And what story exactly is that? The rise of a woman from complete obscurity to national prominence through her own force of will and sense of justice.

When The Undefeated starts in the late 80s, Sarah Palin is working on a small commercial fishing vessel she co-owns with her husband Todd, who is a blue-collar union member, working on the North Slope. The daughter of a school teacher, she is not part of the social, political, or cultural elite in the remote Mat-Su Valley, 40 miles northeast of Anchorage. In fact, Alaska at that time, was still a wilderness with the rough-hewen culture of a frontier state.

She is essentially out of the loop in a state that is out of the loop.  More

Palin: “The Undefeated” Producer Stephen Bannon’s Bloggers Briefing

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on June 7, 2011

The Heritage Foundation hosted a bloggers briefing earlier today with Stephen Bannon, producer of the movie “The Undefeated”.  You may recall that this blog has published two previous posts promoting this epic film here and here. While Mr. Bannon made many statements about the film, I believe the most memorable statement is when he attempts to describe Sarah Palin and says “she is a woman of unique substance”.  Indeed she is Mr. Bannon, indeed she is.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
