Gov. Sarah Palin’s “Good Tidings and Great Joy” book tour took her to Charlotte, NC today where she was greeted by hundreds at the Billy Graham Library.  Palin had the following to say to the fine people of Charlotte:

A big thank you to everyone who joined us today for a very festive “Good Tidings and Great Joy” book event at the Billy Graham Library. It was great to see our old friend Charlie from the ’08 campaign trail. He’s growing up into such a beautiful young man. I’d especially like to thank Franklin and Jane Graham and all the staff and volunteers at the Billy Graham Library. If you’ve never had a chance to visit the library, I really encourage you to take time and do so. It’s a beautiful place dedicated to telling the story of Billy Graham’s amazing life and continuing his work to bring the Christian message of love and hope to the ends of the earth. Next up, we get to visit with volunteers at Samaritan’s Purse and then it’s on to Roanoke, Virginia, and Monroe, Louisiana, tomorrow!

P.S. I had a great time chatting with Bill O’Reilly last night about “Good Tidings and Great Joy.” I had forgotten I wore the same shirt this morning that I did on Fox last night… that is until every other person at the library today mentioned they enjoyed the O’Reilly interview and thought it was cool I was wearing the same clothes! I laughed and explained that this is what happens when you’re living out of a suitcase on the road meeting all these great people!

You can watch the interview here:

Gov. Palin also posted a gallery of 14 great photographs here.  My favorite is definitely this image where she is writing an excuse note for a school-aged child.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association published this article  on Palin’s visit.  Note the photo at the end of the article with what seems like a never-ending line of people waiting for a signature.

With the backdrop of a sunny sky and an unseasonably warm temperature, hundreds lined the sidewalk on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library, waiting to meet Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska and 2008 vice presidential nominee.

Palin visited the Billy Graham Library for a tour and a signing of her recent book release, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.

“I certainly recognize there is a war on Christmas that’s being waged—it seems—in our culture right now,” she said. “The true meaning of Christmas, of course, is Christ’s birth. I wanted to write this so that people realize that they can proudly and boldly proclaim the true meaning of Christmas.”

In 2010, Palin and some of her family members travel to Haiti, where they visited a Samaritan’s Purse cholera clinic and help distribute Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes. In 2009, Palin visited Billy and Franklin Graham at Mr. Graham’s Montreat home in the North Carolina mountains.

Today, she finally had the chance to visit the place the bears the name of one of her spiritual heroes.

“Billy Graham changed the world because he has allowed Christ to shine right through him. People would listen to him and could receive his message,” said Palin, who attended Mr. Graham’s 95th birthday party last month in Asheville, N.C. “He so capitalized—in a good way—on the favor that God gave him to do the Lord’s will and to do the Lord’s work.”

“I am happy to be here at the Billy Graham Library today. I had no idea it was this amazing. It reflects the fact that it was not about Billy Graham. His ministry is truly about the Gospel, and this facility reflects that.”  More

Gov. Palin also visited with volunteers of Operation Christmas Child and expressed appreciation via her Facebook page for their dedication.

Today we had the honor of meeting Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child volunteers at the processing center in Charlotte, NC. I was blown away with the energy and joy there!

My family was blessed a few years ago to participate in this mission in Haiti with Rev. Franklin Graham, Greta Van Susteren and her husband John Coale. It was heartwarming to see children’s faces light up when given a Christmas gift box packed with love! It’s a tangible way to show kids they matter and they’re loved.

Operation Christmas Child relies on volunteers; and today we met many of these hard workers who make the program possible. There are about 75,000 volunteers serving in a three-week timeframe at processing centers across the nation. That’s more than 395,000 volunteer hours! The Charlotte processing center alone has 28,000 selfless workers packing more than 2 million gift boxes. This year’s collection goal is 7.2 million gift boxes domestically and 9.8 million worldwide. Without these volunteers none of it would be possible! Their great efforts ensure gift boxes reach children all over the world, and more importantly, they send the love of Christ, reminding all that Jesus is the reason for the season. It’s the true Christmas spirit in action!

Here’s more on Samaritan’s Purse:

There’s an additional 13 photos on Palin’s Facebook page chronicling her visit with the Samaritan’s Purse volunteers.

The Charlotte Observer also published a photo gallery of Gov. Palin’s visit with the volunteers here.

Palin’s book tour will take her to both Roanoke, VA and Monroe, LA tomorrow, December 7th.

Palin: “Put your life in God’s hands” -Liberty University Roundup (Video Update)

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on December 4, 2013

Liberty1_13_1204Photo by Shealah Craighead

Gov. Sarah Palin kicked off the second leg of her “Good Tidings and Great Joy” by going to Liberty University and speaking at their final Convocation for 2013.  Palin’s time on stage was an informal Q&A session with President Jerry Falwell, Jr. which included questions submitted by students. Gov. Palin, via her Facebook page, had the following to say about her visit there today:

It was such an honor to participate this morning in Liberty University’s final Convocation for 2013! A big thank you to the students and faculty and especially to President Falwell for the kind invitation. As I mentioned this morning, places like Liberty University inspire me. This young university is educating a whole new generation of American leaders who understand the positive effect our Christian heritage has had not only in our personal lives, but also in the life of our nation.

It was awesome meeting the students after the Convocation. Congratulations to everyone graduating this month. And best of luck to everyone else on their final exams!

P.S. I enjoyed the tour of your beautiful Snowflex Centre. It’s not quite like the snow in Alaska, but pretty darn close!

Gov. Palin also posted a gallery of 14 photos of her Liberty University appearance.  Looks like it was a packed house!

Liberty University posted their account of Gov. Palin’s visit:

In the last Convocation of the fall semester on Wednesday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told Liberty University: “I have your back, because I know you have my back.”

In a sit-down, conversational interview on stage with President Jerry Falwell, Jr. and Vice President for Communications Johnnie Moore, Palin talked about her motivation to keep standing for “time-tested truths” — the same truths Liberty upholds — when she is attacked by the mainstream media for her conservative views.

“This is what inspires me — you,” she told the arena of more than 10,000 students. “ … What inspires me and allows me to keep going and standing strong is being in a place like this.”

Palin, the first woman and youngest person to be elected governor of Alaska and the country’s first female Republican vice presidential candidate, has visited campus before, but this was the first time she has appeared at a Liberty event.

Liberty3_13_1204

Photo from LU website

She said she was amazed at the campus transformation that has taken place since she was here a few years ago.

“You guys are doing an awesome job; it’s amazing, the infrastructure, additions to the amenities, what a wonderful force for good in this part of the nation and for the world,” Palin said.

Coming off a 15-city tour for her new best-seller, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas,” she talked about the larger message that the Christmas story brings today.

“My book is about protecting the heart of Christmas, which is really about protecting the heart of America,” she said. “Because the message of Christmas is the message of hope and change, not the stuff you hear coming out of Washington. … It’s the Judeo-Christian faith that provided all the foundation in our charters of liberty, our Constitution, our Declaration of Independence. It was a faith–filled people who understood how blessed our land was and the opportunities we have, our wonderful work ethic, all the things that have made America so exceptional.”

She said the tour is about more than a book; it is about restoring our nation’s principles.

“That’s why I appreciate Liberty University,” she said. “You will be a force for good, understanding the importance of Christian faith and a Christian education. You are the future leaders of this country.”

Students submitted their own questions for Palin, which ranged from who her biggest inspiration is (her youngest son, Trig, who has Down syndrome and has taught her “the world’s standards of perfection are not God’s standards of perfection”) to her family’s favorite Christmas memories (eating moose chili and traveling “over the river and through the woods” by snow machines).

She left students with a lesson she’s learned as a leader:

“Fear not. Again, it’s that message of Christmas; remember the angel came to Mary in a situation with less than ideal circumstances … and that message needs to be received by each one of you here today as you get out there in a pretty rough and tumble world. You’re going to be inundated in the workplace with cultural and societal pressures trying to beat you down … remember that message from that angel. … The greater message was that everybody is made so uniquely, with certain gifts and talents and passions and interests for a reason, to get out there and do good for the world. …  When it comes to families, when it comes to jobs, please remember that you do have purpose and you do have destiny — God don’t make no junk. … Success is letting Him shine through you so that others will be attracted to that light — the eternal destiny is really what matters.”

Looking back at where God has taken her, Palin still calls her rise to a position of leadership “bizarre,” but credits it as God’s work.

“Put your life in God’s hands — you never know where you’re going to end up.”

Once Liberty University uploads the video of today’s event I will update this blog entry.

Palin to Speak at Liberty University Dec. 4th

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on November 22, 2013

Extraordinary-Women-Liberty-University-201110080242KMs

It was announced yesterday that Gov. Sarah Palin will be the closing speaker for Liberty University’s Fall 2013 Fall Convocation series.  At present, Gov. Palin is on tour for her recently released  book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas“.  Liberty University provided the following press release:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be the featured speaker at Liberty University’s final Convocation of the Fall 2013 semester on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Palin will be introduced by President Jerry Falwell, Jr., who issued the following statement about her visit:

“While Governor Palin has visited Liberty’s campus in the past, she has never appeared at a Liberty event. I am thrilled she will soon see why this university brings such hope to America. At Billy Graham’s 95th birthday party she and I spoke of our mutual anticipation for her upcoming visit.”

Palin is a leading voice for American conservatism. She is the first woman and youngest person to be elected governor of Alaska and was the first female Republican vice presidential candidate in U.S. history. She is an internationally sought after speaker and has been a contributor to Fox News.

Her latest book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas,” was recently released by HarperCollins and is currently a New York Times best-seller. Signed copies will be available during Convocation.

“This book is not about isolated trivialities. It’s not really about gingerbread cookies, or stockings hung by the chimney with care, or the big fat man with the long white beard. It’s not about a holiday at all,” Palin writes. “It’s about that little baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, who arrived long before hope and change became political manipulations. It’s about Christ and our ability to worship Him freely. It’s about America, and what liberty truly means in our day-to-day lives.”   More

Palin: Day 3 of “Good Tidings and Great Joy” Book Tour 11/14/13

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on November 15, 2013

Sarah Palin spent another day greeting supporters and signing “Good Tidings and Great Joy” in Wausau, WI.  Perhaps the most interesting story of the day is that Walmart had 700 books on hand and it’s being reported that the store sold out.  In fact, Breitbart has  confirmed that Sam’s Club as well as Barnes and Noble sold their complete inventory too! Special note: Gov. Palin also shared this article on her Facebook page.

From Breitbart’s Kevin Scholla:

When former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went to Wausau, Wisconsin on Thursday, the whole city sold out of her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas. Palin held a book signing at the local Walmart, where a line snaked around the gigantic store (see video below) for the sold out book. Breitbart News has confirmed the town’s Sam’s Club and Barnes & Noble also sold out all their copies of her new book as well yesterday.

At Walmart, Palin greeted a multitude of well-wishers and signed book after book. Just like her Bethlehem, PA stop, she stayed late because of an abundance of supporters. She may have stayed later if not for one very relevant detail. According to a Walmart official, the store ran out of books.

Walmart wasn’t alone. The entire town of Wausau was cleaned out. A Harper Collins source told Breitbart News that along with Walmart, Wausau’s Sam’s Club and Barnes & Noble had also sold all of their copies. The stores have confirmed that all their books were sold. More

Gov. Palin posted an album of pictures 13 pictures from the Wausau signing to her Facebook page.  You’ll immediately notice how engaged she is with her supporters.  You’ll also notice that Palin rises to greet members of our nation’s military and its veterans.  (See above photo.)

The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune published the following article and provided a short video:

RIB MOUNTAIN — Carrie Kolbeck traveled all the to way to Fairbanks, Alaska, four years ago just to get a chance to hear her political hero, Sarah Palin, speak.

So when the Wausau woman heard the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate was coming to town while on a book tour, Kolbeck immediately made plans for a second meeting.

“She just believes in standing up for religious freedom, and that is a big deal to us,” said Kolbeck, 37. “I’m glad for her strength and courage. She’s a very brave woman.”

You can read the rest of the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune article and view the video here.

Gov. Palin also shared her own video (complete with cheery Christmas music) of the many people that were waiting in a line that seemed to snake through every department of Wal-Mart.  The message that accompanied the video is as follows:

Thank you, Wausau! It was great to visit with so many patriots yesterday. Thank you for letting me wish you a Merry Christmas!
http://youtu.be/HNEdtnh_05U

The Wausau Daily has published a photo gallery here

The Wisconsin Free published this article on Palin’s book tour with an interesting quote.

One observer noted, “877 people signed up for Obamacare in the first 6 weeks. Almost as many showed up to see Sarah Palin as signed up for Obamacare.”

Day 4 will take Palin to Ft. Campbell, KY and Ft. Benning, GA.  The book  tour schedule is available here.

Palin: Day 1 of “Good Tidings and Great Joy” Book Tour 11/12/13 (Updated)

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on November 12, 2013

Bethlehem1

Photo credit: Matt Smith | The Express-Times

Governor Sarah Palin kicked off her “Good Tidings and Great Joy” book tour in Bethlehem, PA earlier this evening where well over 700 supporters bought books and was able to take their place in line to have them signed.  Lynn Olanoff of LehighValleyLive.com published the following:

Sarah Palin’s Bethlehem Township, Pa., book signing drew more than 700 people to the local Barnes & Noble tonight.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential running mate and Tea Party star greeted her fans warmly, asking children what grade they were in school and offering advice to one woman who was soon traveling to her home state of Alaska, where she served as governor.

Palin didn’t pose for pictures or sign any personal messages in her new book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas,” but that seemed to bother few who attended the two-hour event.

“She’s a doll,” said Williams Township resident Mary Hazuka, who came to the store at 6:30 this morning to secure No. 47 in line. Hazuka, who bought a total of four books, said she was pleasantly surprised to see Palin’s husband, Todd, beside her in the store.

“We didn’t know her husband was going to be here,” Hazuka said. “That was a plus.”

Palin specifically requested to start the tour for her Christmas book in the Bethlehem area, a local Barnes & Noble employee said last week. The store was selling Palin’s book today for 20 percent off the $22.99 list price.

“You are the very, very first recipients of our whole book tour,” Palin said to the initial crowd.

Shoppers were given the option of buying Palin’s book — which went on sale nationwide today — earlier in the day, obtaining a numbered wristband and then returning for the 6 p.m. signing. The store, located in Southmont Shopping Center on Freemansburg Avenue, opened an hour early today to accommodate the crowds.

Long line by 8 a.m.

Some eager book purchasers were already outside when the first store employees arrived at 6 a.m. By 8 a.m., there was a line outside stretching past the adjacent Pier 1 Imports.

One out-of-town visitor told Palin she woke up at 1:30 a.m. to come see her.

“Well, welcome to our world!” said Palin, who added that she’s constantly traveling at odd hours.

Palmer Township resident Taryn Gilbert also showed up about 6:30 this morning to secure No. 33 in line. Gilbert, who attended with her mother, Gina, said their family traveled to many of Palin’s Pennsylvania campaign stops in 2008.

“We were always in the front row. She said she remembered us,” said Taryn Gilbert, who along with her four siblings comprise the local group Sing for America. The family all wore red sweaters to Palin’s campaign stops in 2008, Gilbert said.

Palin was last in the Lehigh Valley in October 2008 for a campaign rally with running mate John McCain at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem.

Tonight, she wore her signature rimless glasses and a custom-made sweatshirt with an emblem stating, “It’s OK to wish me a Merry Christmas!” Palin’s new book — her third — advocates bringing back the religious spirit of Christmas.

Palin’s first book, “Going Rogue,” was a New York Times bestseller. Her new book was ranked No. 34 among Amazon’s bestsellers at 7 tonight.  More

You’ll find a great picture gallery there as well!

Earlier in the day there was a plethora of media attention given to the newly released “Good Tidings and Great Joy, Protecting the Heart of Christmas”.

Palin: Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition Roundup

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on November 11, 2013

Gov. Sarah Palin spoke at the Family Banquet for the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition Saturday night and by all accounts, her message was well-received. The following was posted to Palin’s Facebook page:

It was wonderful to see so many inspiring and patriotic Iowans tonight at the Faith & Freedom Coalition dinner. They join other hard working Americans as the wind beneath the wings of our great republic, and their hard work and activism make a difference!

Faith&Freedom2013

Tony Lee over at Breitbart has had two articles featured on Palin’s Iowa appearance, the first being “China Will Be ‘Foreign Master’ If America Doesn’t Resolve Debt Crisis”

Saturday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin compared the United States’ debt to slavery, warning Americans about the dangers of being “beholden” to China if the nation’s debt crisis is not resolved.

Speaking at an Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition event to kick off the 2014 midterm season, Palin said the country’s “free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China.”

“It’s going to be like slavery when that note is due,” Palin said of the debt the country is accumulating. “We’re going to be beholden to a foreign master… because there is no plan coming out of Washington, D.C. to stop the incurrence of debt, is there?”  More

h/t iizthatiiz

An additional article by Tony Lee,  “Americans Shouldn’t Have Faith in ‘Arrogant’ Church of Big Government” said:

On Saturday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin blasted the “scrooges” waging a “war on Christmas” and their “zealot-like” faith in an “arrogant” church of big government run by the supposed best and the brightest that has only caused “irreparable harm” to America.  <>She said the “arrogant” church of government does not have “faith in your ability to govern yourself,” so “you should not have faith in it” because “it does not have faith in us.”

Speaking at an Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition dinner, Palin said “enough is enough” of the “politically-correct police out there” and blasted the scrooges waging a “War on Christmas.”

Palin said Americans needed to take action to resist the “fundamental transformation” of society that many Americans “never signed up for.” Echoing themes from her book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas, which comes out on Tuesday, Palin said that “religious freedom is under attack,” and religion is “pushed out of the public square” and “censored.” Palin said one will see the censorship and double standards “blatantly come this holiday season.” More

While in Iowa, Palin also drew attention to “Puppy Jake Foundation”,  a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping military veterans through the assistance of well bred and highly trained service dogs.

From Palin’s Facebook page:

Todd and I had a great time visiting with friends — furry and otherwise — in Des Moines tonight supporting the Puppy Jake Foundation. Thanks to our hosts Becky Beach and the entire Puppy Jake team for allowing us to highlight the positive work they’re doing with these service dogs to support our brave soldiers returning home. It was great to visit with Sen. Mike Lee there tonight, too!

Now, hopefully Todd’s been won over and will agree it’s time to add another set of paws to the family! Please “like” the Puppy Jake Foundation on Facebook and visit their website to find out how you can help our vets. (And put in a good word to Todd for me… he’s the one who’s always said, “The more, the merrier!”)

http://puppyjakefoundation.com/
https://www.facebook.com/PuppyJakeFoundation

PuppyJake

The DesMoines Register also featured a story on the Puppy Jake Foundation and entitled it “Sarah Palin uses star power to shine spotlight on Iowa service dogs”:

Sarah Palin is using her star power to draw attention to an Iowa program that trains service dogs for injured military veterans – and the donations immediately started rolling in.

Palin, a conservative pundit and 2008 vice presidential candidate, cuddled several puppies from the Puppy Jake Foundation at a gathering at a central Iowa home Friday night organized so that she could meet the dogs’ raisers/trainers/foster parents.

“She was talking to her husband, Todd, and kind of razzing him about getting a puppy and how adorable they were,” said Robin Lickteig, the puppy trainer who hosted the get-together at her Cumming home.  More

From Sarah Palin’s Facebook page:

Tomorrow we will announce the details of our upcoming “Good Tidings and Great Joy” book tour scheduled to start November 12th in the beautifully named Bethlehem, PA. This book is not about isolated trivialities. It’s not really just about gingerbread cookies, or stockings hung by the chimney with care, or the big fat man with the long white beard. It’s not about one holiday at all. It’s about that little baby wrapped in swaddling clothes who arrived long before hope and change became political manipulations. It’s about Christ and our ability to worship Him freely. It’s about America, and what liberty truly means in our day-to-day lives. It’s an empowering message that can change your life and help rebuild what is GOOD in this world! I am beyond excited to share this unique book with you and your loved ones. You can pre-order “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas” here:

Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Good-Tidings-Great-Joy-Protecting/dp/0062292889/ref=tmm_hrd_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1381255547&sr=1-3

Barnes & Noble: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/good-tidings-and-great-joy-palin-sarah/1116988729?ean=9780062315656

I can’t wait to hear from you as we apply this positive message to our everyday living and commit to ignoring the “political correctness” that would lead us to do otherwise!

Sincerely,

Sarah Palin

Palin Invited to Attend Billy Graham’s 95th Birthday Celebration

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visits with the Rev. Billy Graham and his son Franklin at the Graham family home in Montreat in November 2009 / Special to the Citizen-Times

As cited in Palin’s October 30th Facebook post:

And it will be thrilling to pay tribute to Rev. Billy Graham next week as he celebrates his 95th birthday! The entire Graham family has had such a positive influence on our nation and the world. God bless them!

From Asheville’s Citizens-Times:

ASHEVILLE — Former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will attend next week’s birthday celebration for the Rev. Billy Graham, a Graham organization spokesman confirmed today.

Real estate mogul Donald Trump has apparently also said on social media that he will be attending, Graham spokesman Jeremy Blume said.

A number of prominent people have been invited to a Nov. 7 party to mark Graham’s 95th birthday.

Blume said there are a number of ties between Palin and the Graham family.

Alaska has been “an outpost” for relief aid headed to Russia provided by Samaritan’s Purse, the international charity run by Billy Graham’s oldest son, Franklin.

Franklin Graham has a hunting cabin in Alaska and visited Palin during trips there when she was governor, Blume said.

Palin’s Facebook page today has a photo from a Christmas mission trip to Haiti a few years ago the page says both Palin and Franklin Graham went on.  More
