Sarah Palin’s Strong Foreign Policy Goes “On The Record”

Posted by Gary P Jackson on March 25, 2011

By Gary P Jackson

After speaking in Naples, Florida Wednesday evening, Sarah Palin went On The Record with Greta Van Susteren. Though teased as a look at Sarah’s trip to Israel, and the possibility of a presidential run, much of the interview centered around Libya and the lack of coherent policy. Sarah Palin comes off as a competent and confident leader in this interview.

The emerging Palin Doctrine can be summed up in her philosophy that if we are going to be involved in these things we must be “in it to win it and if in doubt, get out” I take that to mean, either have a winning mindset from the start, or don’t bother. This go hard or go home attitude is how one wins the future, to borrow a slogan from our President. This is very Reaganesque. His strategy with the Soviet Union could be boiled down to four words: “We win, they lose“.

The world expects a strong United States. It expects the United States to have a strong Commander-in-Chief. History shows when the United States becomes disengaged, or weak on the world stage, very bad things happen.

Both World Wars, the rise of radical Islam, and even the build up to 9/11 can be traced to unengaged, “progressive” Presidents. [Democrats] who were more interested in re engineering the United States, building a socialist utopia, rather than keeping their eye on the ball.

We are seeing all of this play out once again with Obama’s helter-skelter, all over the map, lunacy. The Obama regime’s foreign policy has all the makings for a good screwball comedy. Sadly though, this is real life, and people will die.

As you watch Greta’s interview with Sarah, you see a Commander-in-Chief. An optimistic leader who looks at how things are, sees how things can be. I’m not just talking Foreign policy either. When I hear Sarah Palin speak, I am reminded of the same feelings I got hearing Ronald Reagan speak when he was President. Sarah has that steady, competent leadership ability to get the nation, and the world, back on track.

Once Again Sarah Palin Has To Tell Obama To Get Spending Priorities Straight Concerning Pay Cuts For Military

Posted by Gary P Jackson on May 11, 2010

Priorities,priorities- Keep eye on PresObama’s soldier pay decrease in midst of overspending elsewhere&govt union pay raises. Is he serious?

~Sarah Palin via Twitter

If there is one thing the Obama regime can do to get Mama Grizzly all fired up, it’s screw around with our brave man and women who sacrifice all to secure our Freedom and Liberty!

I am constantly in awe of our military. The fact that so many young men and women would voluntarily put themselves in harm’s way for all of us is simply inspiring.

This isn’t the first time Sarah has had to take the Obama regime on over military pay. Not long after taking office Obama cut off the pensions to the surviving members of the Alaska Territorial Guard, what is now called the Alaska Defense Force, a federally recognized militia, that is part of Homeland Security’s master planning.

The survivors of the Territorial Guard are WWII veterans who fought the Japanese on Alaskan soil. They were never paid for their service to the nation. With a lot of hard work though, pensions were secured for surviving members of the Guard.

With the stroke of a pen, Obama cut them off.

This was the typical passive-aggressive kind of attack Obama has made on Sarah since day one. Obama is that petty. The guy can’t face her head on, so he messes with things she cares about. He’s tried to mess with the AGIA…Sarah’s natural gas pipeline as well. That deal is ongoing.

Of course, at the time, in her role as Governor and Commander-In-Chief of the ADF, Sarah unloaded on Obama, then took strong action, signing into law provisions to pay these WWII heroes through the state until the matter could be resolved to satisfaction, which it finally has.

You can read more about this despicable act by Obama here.

Yesterday Sarah sent the tweet quoted above, and posted a short note on Facebook that simply read:

Soldier pay decreases in the midst of overspending elsewhere and government union

pay raises? Seriously? What are our priorities?

Sarah of course, is right. The Obama regime is growing government at an alarming rate. These government employees are making much more than market rate wages, earning quite a bit more than the rest of the population. Of course, being a Union man through and through, Obama is all for huge pay raises for this group.

The nearly $1 trillion bailout bill has been nothing but a government boondoggle, mostly wasted on pet projects, while experts agree having absolutely no positive effect on the economy.

The fact that we can waste money on nonsensical studies, and pork projects, but cannot find the money to pay those who protect us all from harm is simply unacceptable.

Along with her thoughts, Sarah linked to this from Newsmax:

Outrage: Obama Administration Targets Military for Pay Reductions

President Barack Obama — who came to power with the help of government employee unions across the nation and has lavished on them hundreds of billions in stimulus funds to keep them on federal, state and local payrolls with no strings attached — is moving to cut spending on salaries for military personnel.

This weekend The Washington Post headlined story, “Pentagon Asking Congress to Hold Back on Generous Increases in Troop Pay,” disclosed that the Obama administration is “pleading” with Congress to give military personnel a much smaller increase in pay than lawmakers have proposed.

The Pentagon contends that Congress simply has been too generous with troops during the past decade.

In fact, lawmakers have lavished so much money on troops, according to the Post, that service members are now better compensated than workers in the private sector with similar experience and education levels.

For example, the military brass claims that an average sergeant in the Army with four years of service and one dependent would receive $52,589 in annual compensation, according to the paper. This figure includes basic pay, housing, and subsistence allowances, as well as tax benefits.

Meanwhile, a U.S. postal letter carrier, with no supervisory or hazardous duty, makes approximately $80,000 a year when all benefits are factored in.

Critics of the Obama administration’s efforts to cut soldier’s pay say America’s security has been strengthened by higher pay rates, as qualified veterans are re-enlisting at record rates, reversing the problem the military witnessed just a few years ago.

Any attempt to link rising military personnel costs with shrinking military readiness is total nonsense,” said Thomas J. Tradewell Sr., who leads the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the largest and oldest major combat veterans organization.

If the Defense Department needs a larger budget for personnel programs, then let the VFW carry that message to Congress. Just don’t pin the budget blame on service members and military retirees.

Tradewell’s ire was targeted this past week at Clifford L. Stanley, the Defense undersecretary of personnel and readiness, who said during recent testimony before the personnel subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee: “Rising personnel costs could dramatically affect the readiness of the department.”

What’s hurtful,” said Tradewell, a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran from Sussex, Wis., “is a continuing perception that DoD is more concerned about the budget than they are about recruiting and retaining a professional volunteer force that’s been at war now for more than eight years.”

According to Stanley, last year was the military’s most successful recruiting year since the establishment of the all-volunteer force in 1973.

Although advocates for military families argue that the decade-long spending spree reverses severe cuts that the military suffered in the 1990s, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and other military brass fear that the spending will threaten security in the years to come. That will mean less money to buy weapons and maintain aging equipment.

On Saturday, Gates told reporters that massive deficits can impact how the president and policy makers confront emerging threats like Iran.

Lawmakers consistently have overruled the Pentagon and mandated more-generous pay raises than requested by both the Bush and Obama administrations. Congress has also rejected attempts by the Pentagon to slow soaring healthcare costs, which Gates told reporters are “eating us alive,” by raising co-pays or premiums.

The military admits the improving compensation for troops is helping retention.

For example, improvements in pay and benefits have made it more likely that sailors will stick around longer, Vice Adm. Mark E. Ferguson III, the chief of naval personnel, told the Post.

A Navy survey last year found that about 60 percent of spouses wanted their sailors to make a career of Navy life, meaning a stint of at least 20 years. In 2005, only about 20 percent of spouses felt the same way.

I think pay was previously a concern, but it’s started to change,” Ferguson said. Congress had been “extremely generous” but rising personnel costs were already influencing what the Navy spends to operate, maintain and modernize its fleet, he added.

The Pentagon wants a pay raise of 1.4 percent for service members next year, an increase based on the Employment Cost Index, which the Labor Department uses to measure private-sector salary increases.

Congress, as it has for the past several years, has indicated it favors a slightly bigger bump, of 1.9 percent.

Although that extra half of a percent may not seem like much, one expert told the Post that it would accrue annually and cost about $3.5 billion over the next decade.

But congressional supporters of the men and women in the Armed Services are questioning why they are being singled out for future pay cutbacks when other government agencies and unions are not.

The U.S. Postal Service, for example, is slated to give letter carriers an increase of 1.9 percent this coming year.

And postal employees are considered to be grossly overpaid compared with their private counterparts. A postal supervisor, for example, can make $70,000 or year or more, plus significant benefits.

Last year, Congress had to help fill a $3.8 billion deficit at the federally backed agency, but there has been no discussion of salary cuts for postal employees. Instead, postal officials have focused on reducing service, including Saturday delivery.

Look, nobody wants to belittle our nation’s letter carriers. If you’ve ever seen these men and women, you know that, for the most part, they work hard and earn their pay. However, other than the occasional loose dog, the postman doesn’t face much danger!

The Obama regime has a real distaste for the military, as do most in the Marxist-democrat party. One remembers talk early on of making the military pay for their own health care, and there are still questions with the new unconstitutional ObamaCare fiasco, as to what may happen.

Meanwhile, as Obama wants to cut the pay of our bravest, Connie Hair, writing for Human Events, reports the non-ending bailouts of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are costing the American taxpayers $7 BILLION a month! Fannie and Freddie are the reasons we are such a financial mess to start with. This Marxist-democrat pet project is nothing but a sink hole for tax payer money to be thrown in. Both agencies should ether be sold off and privatized, or simply eliminated.

Fannie and  Freddie Bailouts Cost Taxpayers $7 Billion per Month

The Senate continues voting today on amendments to the Democrats’ partisan finance “reform” bill while ignoring Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two government-sponsored entities (GSEs) at the heart of the financial meltdown.

Fannie and Freddie still owe taxpayers more than twice as much as the next closest bailout debtor, AIG, and they’re both asking for more taxpayer funds.

Fannie Mae yesterday reported a $13 billion 2010 first quarter loss, begging for another $8.4 billion in bailout funding for a total of $83.6 billion. Last week, Freddie Mac asked for an additional $10.6 billion that would total $61.3 billion.

According to Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), top Republican on the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, both are bleeding bailout dollars.

[Monday’s] announcement that Fannie Mae has again asked taxpayers for more money after reporting a first-quarter loss of more than $13 billion demonstrates that Congress must act to end this taxpayer-funded bailout, which together with the bailout of Freddie Mac, has now cost taxpayers an average of $7 billion per month since it began,” Hensarling said. “I urge the Senate to take-up the provisions of my bill, The GSE Bailout Elimination and Taxpayer Protection Act now included in Senator McCain’s amendment to the Dodd financial regulation bill.

Republican Sens. Richard Shelby (Ala.), Judd Gregg (N.H.) and John McCain (Ariz.) filed the amendment to the Dodd bill last week. It has not yet been scheduled for a vote.

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) had a hard time yesterday trying to explain why Fannie and Freddie are not included in the Democrats’ “reform” bill.

I think it’s a fair claim to say that we haven’t done enough to address Fannie and Freddie,” Warner told CNBC. “It is the big elephant in the room that hasn’t been addressed.”

More like the big donkey.

Warner says Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and author of the partisan Democrat bill, promises they’ll come back next year and reform Fannie and Freddie.

He’s put in place an effort to try to come back next year, he won’t be here, but we’ll come back next year and take on Fannie and Freddie in a more thoughtful way,” Warner said.

Right.

It’s too bad the sweetheart deals and tanking poll numbers forced Dodd to bow out of this year’s election — so he won’t be around for next year’s big fix.

Perhaps Virginia voters can hold Warner responsible for the credibility of Dodd’s promise in a few years.

If you didn’t already know, Barack Obama was second only to Chris Dodd in the amount of campaign money he has received from Fannie and Freddie.

That we can continue to fund one of the most corrupt, and inept operations in the nation, but can’t pay our bravest, is disturbing, disgusting, and outrageous!

I join Sarah Palin in calling for the Obama regime to stop wasting taxpayer money buying votes and start doing right by our troops!

Sarah Palin Issues A Rallying Cry For All Americans: Stand Up for SEALs Standing Up for Us

Posted by Gary P Jackson on March 5, 2010

As everyone knows by now, Barack Obama and his corrupt minions are engaged in a massive jihad against our military, CIA, and well, anyone and everyone charged with keeping America safe.

At the same time, we are now reading terrorists Miranda warnings and treating them like American citizens. Obama’s Justice Department just hired nine attorneys who have made a career out of defending terrorists. The Attorney General himself, Eric Holder, has a long history of defending terrorists. Holder was instrumental in securing a pardon for 16 murderous FALN terrorists during the Clinton administration.

One could go on and on….

Obama’s latest target is a group of brave Navy SEALs who captured one of the world’s most dangerous terrorists: Ahmed Hashim Abed. Abed is the terrorist mastermind who organized the killing, burning and mutilating of four American contractors in Fallujah, Iraq, in March 2004.

The terrorists strung up the blackened bodies of these Americans on a box-girder bridge over the Euphrates River, a horrifying event that made headlines worldwide.

As all terrorists are trained to do, this animal claimed the SEALs roughed him up when they captured him. Of course, this administration is far more worried about the terrorist’s feelings than anything else. I mean God forbid one of these precious little lovelies get their hair mussed!

The end result is three of America’s bravest are being persecuted for doing their job.

Many Americans have joined the fight to protect these brave men though. Sarah Palin is one of them. Her latest Facebook blog is dedicated to these three brave SEALs and calls on all of America to stand beside them in their hour of need.

Stand Up for SEALs Standing Up for Us

First the Obama Administration opened up the possibility of prosecuting CIA interrogators doing their jobs seeking information from terrorists. Then they tried to go after the Bush Administration lawyers who acted in good faith to protect us in the months after 9/11. Now some of the military brass are court-martialing three brave Navy SEALs for allegedly throwing a single punch at Iraqi terrorist leader Ahmed Hashim Abed. This is wrong. The Washington Times got it right: Save the SEALs.

These brave warriors belong in combat, not in the courthouse. They captured the most wanted terrorist in Iraq. We may never know how many other heroic missions they undertook on behalf of our country. The charges should be dropped, and they should be returned to their unit – with our gratitude for their service.

Stand up for the SEALs who are standing up for us!

– Sarah Palin

Sarah was right when she told Obama that we need a real Commander-In-Chief, not some Harvard law professor.

The brave men and women who make up our military and intelligence services deserve the support of the American people. They do not deserve a so-called commander-in-chief who is hostile to them and their mission.

It’s time for all Americans to rise up and tell Barack Obama to stop persecuting brave members of the military, the CIA, and other services dedicating to keeping America free and safe, and start killing terrorists!

Sarah Palin: Stay Focused People! Moving The Terror Trial Doesn’t Fix The Problem

Posted by Gary P Jackson on January 30, 2010

The most important job a President has is that of Commander-in-Chief. Protecting the nation against all enemies, both foreign and domestic should be job one for any President.

Unfortunately, like everything else Barack Obama has been put in charge of, he has proven to be an absolute failure as a Commander-in-Chief. Three high profile terrorist attacks on American soil, plus the massacre of CIA agents abroad bear this out.

As bad as that is though, Obama’s decision to bring the 9/11 terrorists to New York for a civilian trial vs a military tribunal, a time honored way of dealing with enemy combatants that dates back to ancient times, proves Obama just isn’t capable of handling this job. It proves he has a pre-9/11 mentality in a very dangerous post-9/11 world.

Sarah Palin has some insight in this just released note:

Stay Focused: Relocating Terrorists’ Trial Doesn’t Solve the Main Problem

People are celebrating the fact that the Obama Administration is considering relocating the terrorists’ trial from New York to another American city. Yet there’s still no talk of moving the trial out of our U.S. civilian courts to where it should take place – a military tribunal.

Now the administration is backtracking in order to fix its initially blundered decision to try these dangerous terrorists in New York City despite the great danger and cost to New Yorkers. This scenario is all too common in Washington. The tactic is to propose something so outrageous that the public will rise up and demand common sense, and then the White House “concedes” and changes its initial decision to give the impression of newfound reasonability and moderation. But the problem still isn’t solved! The trial location debate becomes a diversion so that we’ll take our eyes off the ball. The point missed is that our President still wants to give these terrorists U.S. constitutional protections in our civilian courts, allowing them to lawyer-up on our dime.

This tactic is in the same vein as another Washington game: creating the appearance of a “crisis” in order to push for a radical solution. (“The health care crisis must be fixed by government now or we’re all gonna die! The earth’s temperature is fluctuating; government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die! Private businesses made poor decisions and bureaucrats claim they’re too big to fail, so government must fix this crisis now or we’re all gonna die!“)

Politicians and lobbyists announce that there is a “crisis,” and never letting a good crisis go to waste, they propose a radical solution to fix it. The public listens intently, and in a sincere desire to help, an alternative to the politicians’ radical solution gets put forward. The politicians then “concede” and mellow out their radical solution. The public’s attention has been diverted to tinkering on the periphery, all the while ignoring the real problem at the heart of the “crisis” that started the whole debate.

The fact is our government has a choice as to where to try the terrorists. We don’t have to try them in our civilian courts. The peripheral debate regarding in which city to try these evil, dangerous haters-of-America is a diversion. Let’s get back to the heart of the matter: what choice will our government make – terrorist trials in civilian courts or military tribunals?

– Sarah Palin

That, folks, is called hitting the nail on the head!

Washington is very good at playing the old game of diversion. Of bait and switch. Obama is a master of it. It’s one of the few things he and his Chicago crew have been able to pull off correctly since taking office. It’s the old slight of hand.

Giving KSM and the rest of these savages full constitutional rights and a civilian trial is ludicrous, especially since Obama himself has already pronounced that they will be found guilty, and no matter the verdict, they will be held forever.

A civilian trial serves only one purpose, and that is to embarrass the United States and give these murderous terrorists a world wide stage to bash our nation. Of course, the way Obama and his people look at this, is it’s just another way to bash President George W Bush and his administration too.

This madness has to stop. We have provisions for military tribunals already set up, and they pass United States Supreme Court muster. Put these cats through the military system and be done with them!

Sarah Palin: Commander-In-Chief

Posted by Gary P Jackson on January 19, 2010

As we continue to look at all of the massive failures of the Obama regime in the aftermath of the Christmas Day attacks over American airspace, I keep going back to a simple Facebook note from Sarah Palin:

It’s War, not a Crime Spree

President Obama’s meeting with his top national security advisers does nothing to change the fact that his fundamental approach to terrorism is fatally flawed. We are at war with radical Islamic extremists and treating this threat as a law enforcement issue is dangerous for our nation’s security. That’s what happened in the 1990s and we saw the result on September 11, 2001. This is a war on terror not an “overseas contingency operation.” Acts of terrorism are just that, not “man caused disasters.” The system did not work. Abdulmutallab was a child of privilege radicalized and trained by organized jihadists, not an “isolated extremist” who traveled to a land of “crushing poverty.” He is an enemy of the United States, not just another criminal defendant.

It simply makes no sense to treat an al Qaeda-trained operative willing to die in the course of massacring hundreds of people as a common criminal. Reports indicate that Abdulmutallab stated there were many more like him in Yemen but that he stopped talking once he was read his Miranda rights. President Obama’s advisers lamely claim Abdulmutallab might be willing to agree to a plea bargain – pretty doubtful you can cut a deal with a suicide bomber. John Brennan, the President’s top counterterrorism adviser, bizarrely claimed “there are no downsides or upsides” to treating terrorists as enemy combatants. That is absurd. There is a very serious downside to treating them as criminals: terrorists invoke their “right” to remain silent and stop talking. Terrorists don’t tell us where they were trained, what they were trained in, who they were trained by, and who they were trained with. Giving foreign-born, foreign-trained terrorists the right to remain silent does nothing to keep Americans safe from terrorist threats. It only gives our enemies access to courtrooms where they can publicly grandstand, and to defense attorneys who can manipulate the legal process to gain access to classified information.

President Obama was right to change his policy and decide to send no more detainees to Yemen where they can be free to rejoin their war on America. Now he must back off his reckless plan to close Guantanamo, begin treating terrorists as wartime enemies not suspects alleged to have committed crimes, and recognize that the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor.

– Sarah Palin

Obviously, it’s those final words, the fact that Obama needs to “….recognize that the real nature of the terrorist threat requires a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor” are what stand out. This caused us to further discuss this in a piece called: President Obama To Sarah Palin: Where You Lead I Will Follow!

Not long after, Liz Cheney’s group Keep America Safe released this video that highlights just how dismal it all truly is for those of us who would actually like a President that cared about keeping us safe.

Pretty powerful statement. Remember how the democrat/communists and the media (yes, I know, same thing) were caterwauling because it took President George Bush a whole seven, eight minutes to respond to the attacks on September11, 2001?

If you remember, President Bush was in Florida reading a book to a group of school children when he was told. Now rather than run out, hair on fire in a panic, the President chose to calmly finish the last pages of the children’s book, then calmly excuse himself to handle things.

Obviously that was the right thing to do. Over the next few hours there would be plenty of fear, anger, and confusion. It would have been irresponsible on his part to add to it.

But to this day, the moonbats on the left whine about those seven or eight minutes.

Here we have a president that waited 97 hours before addressing what was the third high profile terrorist attack on American soil since taking office!

No way in hell was this guy about to have his vacation interrupted.

We’ve seen a radical Muslim terrorist kill a soldier at an Arkansas recruiting center, something the Obama friendly media rushed to cover up. Pamela Geller has the story though at her popular Atlas Shrugs website, here.

And of course, we’ve had Hassan, who was obviously an al Qaeda “sleeper” who killed our troops in the attacks at Ft Hood, Texas…the largest armored military base in the world. Obama and friends have rushed to quickly shove that story out of sight and out of mind.

Now we have the Eunuchbomber who was only a failed fuse away from not only killing everyone aboard the jetliner, but who knows how many hundreds, or thousands on the ground as this thing crashed into the densely populated area below.

Of course, Obama’s crack team were all on the job assuring us that “the system worked!” It would be great sketch comedy if this wasn’t serious business.

To say the system failed would be quite possibly the understatement of a lifetime. I mean the terrorists’s own father called and told us his son had been radicalized by the Religion of Piece!

This of course got me to reflecting on what a truly horrible, inept, and maybe indifferent Commander-In-Chief Obama is. I looked back at a couple of articles I wrote earlier as an example of the man’s unfitness for duty.

The first one involves the heralded and much celebrated Alaska Defense Force. This deal was so petty, that if I didn’t know better, I’d say this was a direct shot by Obama at Sarah Palin.

For those that don’t know, the Alaska Defense Force is a federally recognized militia, and part of Homeland Security’s planning. In practice, this is a voluntary militia that serves as reserve police

force in the state of Alaska, as well as a reserve military unit. They receive full military training, and are under the direct command and control of the Governor of Alaska.

This issue in question involves living ADF members who fought the Japanese in WWII. Alaska was invaded by the Japanese in WWII, and brave members of the ADF held them at bay. These brave men were mostly Native Alaskans, and they fought without receiving any paid compensation whatsoever.

For years Alaskans had fought to, at the very least, get these brave men some retirement money from the government. They finally succeeded.

Early in the year, Barack Obama put a halt to this.

As the McClatchy New Service reported at the time:

WASHINGTON — In a strongly worded message to Congress outlining its priorities for a military spending bill, the Obama administration today said it disapproved of including money for pensions for 26 elderly members of the World War II-era Alaska Territorial Guard.

The Guardsmen are among those assigned to protect Alaska from the Japanese during World War II.

The Army decided this year to no longer count service in the Guard in calculating the military’s 20-year minimum for retirement pay, although it still counts for military benefits. As a result, their pensions were decreased in January.

An estimated 300 members are still living from the original 6,600-member unit formed in 1942 to protect Alaska, then a territory, from attack. The 26 men have enough other military service to reach the 20-year minimum for retirement pay but would lose it if the Territorial Guard service doesn’t count.

A Senate military spending bill up for a vote in the Senate allows the former Guard members count their service as part of active military duty, and it reinstates the payments.

State lawmakers passed a bill earlier this year to fill the pay gap until Congress made a permanent fix, but the White House said Friday it didn’t think it was “appropriate to establish a precedent of treating service performed by a state employee as active duty for purposes of the computation of retired pay.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who along with Sen. Mark Begich, D-Alaska, sponsored the fix, called the administration move “deeply disappointing, bordering on insensitive.” The legislation honors 26 elderly Native people who are the few remaining survivors of a military unit that served the country with valor, Murkowski said.

The administration’s justification, which is that the legislation will set the precedent of treating service as a state employee as federal service, defies logic and history,” she said in a statement. “Sixty-two years after the Territorial Guard was disbanded, the Obama administration minimizes the contribution of this gallant unit to America’s success in World War II by calling its service ‘state service.’

At the time, I added this to our reporting: “For her part, Governor Sarah Palin, in her role as Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska Defense Force, a modern day equivalent to the Territorial Guard, signed SB 89 which funded, these pensions until 2010.

This was Sarah doing what a Commander-in-Chief does, taking care of her troops.

You can read more background on the ADF, their WWII history, as well as the history of the efforts to get these brave Alaskans honored and paid here.

For Sarah, as well as both Alaska Senators and the one Congressman from Alaska all teamed up to fight this. We learned just before Christmas that the efforts of all had paid off, and they had defeated Obama’s attempts to deny these brave men their due.

Wasilla’s Tracey Porreca has this covered well from her blog Finding Myself In Alaska:

Alaska Territorial Guard Wins!

While I am not pleased with some of the enormous and even reckless spending our government seems to be determined to push forward, I received via Facebook and Rep. Don Young’s site notification that H.R. 3326 has passed. The price tag for this is $636 billion, which is nothing to laugh at, but it secures several things in the area of defense, one of which is the status of the remaining Alaska Territorial Guard members.

As you may remember and have read in previous blog posts on this site (here and here)the Alaska Territorial Guard’s status has been in question and those who had received retirement benefits in the past were at risk for no longer receiving them. While still in office, Gov. Sarah Palin assured this group the State of Alaska would continue their benefits until the issue was resolved. With today’s vote, according to Rep. Young’s site, H.R. 3326 “Clarifies the military status of World War II Alaska Territorial Guardsmen as active service for the purposes of retirement.

This is a very small portion of this bill and I for one am glad that those involved included language in this legislation that protects the benefits so deserved of these brave men

Here is the letter that Sarah wrote Obama concerning this:

Dear Mr. President:

It was with great concern that I learned of the recent decision by the Department of Defense to rescind the program that currently provides retirement payments to veterans of Alaska’s Territorial Guard (ATG). This unfortunate decision was made without any notice to those affected and will cost a group of elderly Alaska veterans a significant portion of their retirement income at a time when the cost of living, particularly in rural Alaska, is substantially higher than in the rest of the United States.

In 2004, Congress fully vetted this issue and decided that service in the ATG was the same as military service. This is the right and proper way to honor these brave individuals who answered the call of duty during times of great national peril.

Prior to World War II, Alaska’s territorial Governor was authorized by Congress to organize a two-branch military response organization – the organized National Guard, and the ATG, which would mobilize to help defend Alaskans in the event of an invasion. An estimated 6,600 men and women, mostly Alaska Indians, Eskimos, and Aleuts, responded to that calL Instead of hunting, trapping and fishing, they patrolled rural Alaska and served as the eyes and ears of the Army for more than five years without pay and benefits.

It took our nation almost 60 years to have these defenders of our territory honored for their time in the ATG, and for their service to be counted the same as federal military service. While most died waiting for their recognition, some have survived to receive their honorable discharge from the United States Army.

Now they are being told, again, that their ATG service is not worthy of federal recognition, and that is not right.

These people are our heroes.

The stellar service of these mostly rural, mostly Native, soldiers is to Alaska today what the service of the militia at Lexington and Concord was to New England.

I urge you to remember all that these valiant members of the ATG sacrificed while defending this country and ask that you reconsider this decision and immediately reinstate the retirement benefits that Congress already recognized in 2004 and that these heroes have certainly earned.

Thank you for considering my views.

Sincerely,

Sarah Palin

This was Sarah Palin again doing what a Commander-in-Chief does, taking care of her troops!

In another piece, that just happened to involve Alaska, as Obama stopped there on his way to kick off his “Bow to the World’s Other Leaders Tour“in Asia, to refuel Air Force One. This time Obama refused to be filmed with an Air Force F-22 Raptor, the pride of Elmendorf AFB.

This was a real slap in the face to the brave men and women who serve there, and around the world. Of course, this was all political because Obama was one of the ones behind the efforts to kill off the F-22.

We wrote about this in a piece called Pathetic: Barack Obama Refused To Be Photographed With F-22 Fighter.

Obviously, Obama is not all that fond of the military. Of course, he’s not wild about the CIA either. I still haven’t heard him address the attack on one of our key CIA stations, or the deaths of those brave agents.

As we are talking Commanders-in-Chief, I thought it would be nice to offer some contrast. We wrote a piece back in June, The ‘Cuda Goes to Kosovo that talks about her trip to visit her troops.

By now we have all witnessed how Obama acts around the troops, and it’s rather obvious how he feels about them, and well…the American people…since he obviously isn’t all that into the whole “national security thing” especially if it is going to cut into his Hawaiian vacation time! Got get that golfing in, no matter what!

By contrast, here is some raw video of Sarah in Kosovo:

Quite a contrast.

Here’s Maj General Craig E Campbell discussing Sarah’s role as Commander-in-Chief with Greta back in 2008:

We wrote another story about Sarah welcoming home her son Track and the rest of his Stryker Brigade Combat Team from Iraq this past Fall. Sarah was honored as the Brigade’s “senior mom.” You can read about it all here.

As Commander-in-Chief, Sarah Palin attended every deployment ceremony and was at the airport to great every returning group of soldiers, personally thanking them for their service and sacrifice to this great nation.

One has to ask, looking at how these two have conducted themselves as Commanders-in-Chief, looking at their actual record and performance, just who would you want to be your Commander-in-Chief?

While you think about that, take a peak at this inspiring video produced by our old friend, The Mighty Serf:

President Obama To Sarah Palin: Where You Lead I Will Follow!

Posted by Gary P Jackson on January 8, 2010

As most know by now, Sarah Palin slapped Barack Obama down just about as hard as one can metaphorically slap someone down over his complete and total failure to do his job of keeping America safe.

While we have a lot more to say on this subject coming forth, I just had to comment today on just how hard Sarah Palin is now pushing back on Obama and his inability to handle his job as Commander-in-Chief.

But first, a reminder of the smack down:

The title of her note is dead on, of course, but for me, the last line is the stuff legends and blog hits are made of!

I wonder if she went back and forth between “constitutional law professor” and “community organizer” in her head?

Either way, this is a scathing attack on Obama and an indictment on his lack of experience and skill to be either President or Commander-in-Chief.

The more I hear Sarah speak (or read her writings) the more I think of the Great Ronald Reagan and how he used one liners to simply destroy his opponents. Some were funny, like his crack to Walter Mondale about age, and some were just powerful, like “Mr. Gorbachev, tear…down…this…wall!

Sure miss the Gipper!

Sarah’s latest hits that sweet spot just as well as Reagan used to. And she’s had Obama’s number since day one. She famously proclaimed at the 2008 RNC convention, as she was accepting her nomination as the GOP’s vice presidential candidate:

Before I became Governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown.

And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organizer,” except that you have actual responsibilities.

A great jab, but what many may have missed is the fact the Obama campaign actively sought to frame her as “just” a small town mayor. They were going out of their way to never mention the fact that she was the Governor of our largest state!

Another great moment in her 2008 speech, one that has turned out to be incredibly prophetic, especially on terrorism, is this:

This is a man [Barack Obama] who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word “victory” except when he’s talking about his own campaign.

But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed … when the roar of the crowd fades away … when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot – what exactly is our opponent’s plan?

What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

The answer is to make government bigger … take more of your money … give you more orders from Washington … and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy … our opponent is against producing it.

BOOM! Taste my nightstick!

Besides the great visuals in her speech, Sarah was dead on when it comes to how Barack Obama is working out as President. Sadly, everything she predicted is coming true.

Obama has notoriously dithered after every terrorist attack we have seen on American soil since he has taken office: Fort Dix, New Jersey, where a crazed Muslim terrorist attacked a recruiting office, Fort Hood, Texas, where a terrorist, and possible al Qaeda “sleeper” murdered our troops, to the Eunuchbomber on Christmas Day, Obama his been down right pathetic in his response.

So clueless is Obama that neither he, nor his CIA Director Leon Panetta, or even Panetta’s deputy director, Stephen Kappes, saw the need to return from their vacations to deal with terror attacks world wide. Remember, the CIA just lost one of it’s most strategic posts and seven very valuable officers when an al Qaeda “double agent” just waltzed into headquarters and blew himself and everyone else up.

So far, that’s three counts of terrorist attacks on American soil on Obama’s watch, as well as one incredibly major attack on us abroad. The three domestic attacks are the first since 9/11.

Obviously, Sarah is right, Obama and his clueless kumbaya approach to terrorism, coupled with his insistence to treat terrorists like someone who just robbed the corner liqueur store is gonna get a whole lot of Americans killed!

It’s war, not a crime spree!

-Sarah Palin

So, with that in mind, the nation listened to yet another incoherent drone from our clueless ” constitutional law professor-in-chief” on Thursday. As in most cases, Obama talked a lot, but said basically nothing, something he does better than any man either living or dead.

I’m listening to this train wreck of a speech unfold, and out popped this gem from Obama’s teleprompter to my ears:

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been reminded again of the challenge we face in protecting our country against a foe that is bent on our destruction. And while passions and politics can often obscure the hard work before us, let’s be clear about what this moment demands. We are at war. We are at war against al Qaeda, a far-reaching network of violence and hatred that attacked us on 9/11, that killed nearly 3,000 innocent people, and that is plotting to strike us again. And we will do whatever it takes to defeat them.

Sadly, one has to get twenty-six paragraphs into a thirty-three paragraph speech(including the “thank you” at the end) before one finds the revelation that we are, indeed, at war! Even sadder, this bit of basic truth is buried in the middle of the paragraph!

Baby steps, I guess.

Now this doesn’t sound like much, but for Obama and his 1960’s hippy rejects running things, this is a marked change. This marks one of the first times Obama has actually referred to the war on terrorism, as war! That simply boggles the mind!

This is a guy whose Homeland Security Director, Janet “The System Worked” Napolitano dropped the “war on terror” language, as it might offend, in favor of “overseas contingency operation” and “terror attack” under Janet has become a “man-caused disaster

Seems to me that “man-caused disaster” is a great description of the entire democrat/communist party in general and the Obama presidency in particular.

Obama is a guy who is giving Miranda rights to terrorists.

So, let’s recap:

January 5, 2010: Sarah Palin: “It’s war, not a crime spree.”

January 7, 2010: Barack Obama: “We are at war.”

A regular Sherlock Holmes this Obama fellow.

Sarah is right, we need a Commander-in-Chief, not a constitutional law professor.

This is rapidly becoming a pattern. Obama “acting stupidly” followed by Sarah Palin taking him to the woodshed, followed by Obama then forced to react.

In honor of Obama’s realization that we are indeed at war with al Qaeda, once Sarah reminded him, I’d like to dedicate this song for Mr Obama to Sarah Palin.

Pathetic: Barack Obama Refused To Be Photographed With F-22 Fighter

Posted by Gary P Jackson on December 4, 2009

Reason number 739, 612 that Sarah Palin will make a better Commander-In-Chief than Barack Obama, who recently called our brave troops “a nice photo op.”

This is about as pathetic as it gets. On his recent trip to the far east, where he would not only grovel to the Chinese, but take time to be the only head of state to bow to the Japanese Emperor, Obama stopped off at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska so Air Force One could be refueled, and he could use those brave men and women as a photo op while he held what amounted to a campaign rally.

The F-22 is the pride of Elmendorf, as it should be. But you see, the Obama administration has worked very hard to kill the F-22 program. Reminds us of Jimmy Carter, when at the height of the cold war, he was cancelling advanced weapons programs right and left, so he could throw money at social engineering projects, such as the Community Re-Investment Act, that would directly lead to the huge sub-prime mortgage crash that has our economy in shambles as this is being written, and the establishment of the Department of Education, which has led to the massive decline in the quality of education in America.

So anyhow, Carter 2.0…errr….I mean Obama, is so pathetically petty he doesn’t want to be seen with the most technologically advanced fighter on the planet, a wonderful example of American technology, sophistication, and engineering prowess,… not to mention an incredibly strong symbol of America’s strength,….. because he is the one of the ones who killed it.

From Foreign Policy:

When President Obama spoke to troops at Alaska’s Elmendorf Air Force Base last month, the unit there parked a shiny new F-22 fighter plane in the hangar. But according to multiple sources, White House aides demanded the plane be changed to an older F-15 fighter because they didn’t want Obama speaking in front of the F-22, a controversial program he fought hard to end.

White House aides actually made them remove the F-22-said they would not allow POTUS to be pictured with the F-22 in any way, shape, or form,” one source close to the unit relayed.

Stephen Lee, a public affairs officer at Elmendorf, confirmed to The Cable that the F-22 was parked in the hangar and then was replaced by an F-15 at the White House’s behest.

The airmen there took offense to the Obama aides’ demand, sources told The Cable, seeing it as a slight to the folks who are operating the F-22 proudly every day. They also expressed bewilderment that the White House staff would even care so much as to make an issue out of the fact that the F-22 was placed in the hangar with the president.

A White House official, commenting on background basis, told The Cable that yes, there were discussions about which plane or planes would be in the hangar, but that they were not meant as an insult to the pilots and other personnel who work on the F-22. The official couldn’t elaborate on why the White House aides felt it necessary to get involved in the matter in the first place.

The official pointed to Obama’s speech to the troops that day, where he praised both the 90th Fighter Squadron, known as the “Dicemen,” and the 525th Fighter Squadron, the “Bulldogs,” both of which operate the F-22.

Even so, the Air Force personnel thought it odd the White House wanted to display the older plane rather than the more advanced plane that, in the eyes of its supporters, represents the latest and greatest in American aviation.

The Obama administration fought hard and successfully to cut off production of the F-22 at 187 planes, a number Defense Secretary Robert Gates endorsed but that was hundreds less than originally planned and about half of the 381 planes Air Force leadership lobbied hard for in the years preceding Obama’s inauguration.

It’s one thing to be against further production; quite another to slight the folks who are flying them in the operational world,” one source said, adding that “the F-15 pictured was put into service roughly around the same period when Obama graduated from college. It’s vintage.

The United States has 187 F-22 Raptors defending our nation. There are thousands of brave men and women who fly and maintain them. These men and women take great pride in what they do, and rightly so. It is just beyond the pale that this little man, Obama, would go out of his way to disrespect them, all because of petty politics.

It really makes no sense whatsoever to deny these warriors a chance to show off their finest tools.

Contrast this to Commander-In-Chief Sarah Palin, whose love for the military is well known. We’ve reported on her trips to Kuwait and Kosovo, but here’s some photos of Sarah, in her role as the Alaska National Guard’s C-I-C aboard the USS Stennis during Northern Edge 2009, a joint training mission held this summer.

As you know, in Alaska, with it’s close proximity to Russia, Commander-In-Chief, for the Governor, is an actual job. Forces of the Alaska Air National Guard routinely escort Russian planes out of Alaskan air space. Not long ago, they were decorated for escorting a number of Russian “Bear” bombers back home.

Anyhow, as you can see, Sarah is quite comfortable being filmed up close and personal with our finest and bravest, as well as their equipment.

Sarah and Todd on their way to the plane that will land aboard the USS Stennis as Sarah participates in Northern Edge 2009, a joint training exercise held this summer:

Sarah and Todd on the flight deck of the USS Stennis:

Sarah in the conning tower aboard the USS Tennis getting brought up to speed on flight ops:

This one is for our buddy Devito: Sarah is doing a little weapons training during her visit to her National Guard troops in Kuwait in 2007:

You tell me, when was the last time we had a Commander-In-Chief who actively took weapons training with their troops?

What a beautiful sight an F-22 Raptor can be to those of us who cherish freedom and liberty:

Every time we think of how great it will be to have Sarah Palin as Commander-In-Chief of our armed forces, an F-22 gets it’s wings! (Yeah, it’s corny, but hey, it’s Christmas time, and we just must get in a “Wonderful” reference somewhere!)

In the grand scheme of things, this isn’t the end of the world. Obama is doing many things a lot worse than this. But it’s just one more slap in the face to the men and women who bravely sacrifice their safety and comfort, so the rest of us can enjoy liberty and freedom. These men and women are the best our nation has to offer. And they do this voluntarily. For Obama to show himself like this is a true insult to our troops and the nation.

BTW, here’s some things Obama is NOT ashamed to be photographed doing:

All I want to know is: Does he inhale?

Two peas in a pod:

Seriously, you don’t see the resemblance?

Here we see Obama at a fund raiser. His current employer, George Soros, is seen sitting in the front row, next to the stairs. He’s on your right, with the jacket, blue shirt, no tie:

Here’s Obama’s blurb for “just another guy in the neighborhood” Bill Ayers’ book. Ayer’s would later return the favor by writing Obama’s first book: Dreams From My Father, for him! (What? It’s settled science!)

Here’s our Barry “community organizing”:

Hmm, teaching at an ACORN training camp. mmmm mmmm mmmm

Really Barack, really?

NOT how Texans wear their hats:

This guy even hates NATIVE Americans!

Is this the precursor to the whole sad Tiger Woods situation?

Not a real photograph, but it could have happened!:

What? All you left wingers thought it was fine when it was Sarah’s face photoshopped in!

This, of course, shows us where we are headed under an Obama presidency. Ride ’em cowboy!

Sarah Palin: Finally, A Decision for Afghanistan: We’re In It to Win It

Posted by Ron Devito on December 2, 2009

Following is the complete transcript of Governor Palin’s Facebook Note on Obama’s decision on Afghanistan:

Three months ago, I joined a number of Americans in urging President
Obama to provide the resources necessary to achieve our goals in
Afghanistan. Tonight, I am glad he mostly heeded that advice (Palin, 2009, ¶1).

At long last, President Obama decided to give his military commanders
much of what they need to accomplish their mission in Afghanistan. In
the end, he decided to endorse a “surge” for Afghanistan, applying the
counterinsurgency principles of “clear, hold and build” that worked so
well in Iraq. Given that he opposed the surge in Iraq, it is even more
welcome that he now supports a surge in Afghanistan (Palin, 2009, ¶2).

This approach means, as Senator John McCain has noted, that “We now
have an opportunity to build a bipartisan consensus in support of a
vital national security priority: defeating Al-Qaeda and its violent
extremist allies in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and ensuring that these
countries never again serve as bases for terrorist attacks against
America and our allies” (Palin, 2009, ¶3)

We should be clear, however, that fewer troops mean assuming more risk.
Talk of an exit date also risks sending the wrong message. We should be
in Afghanistan to win, not to set a timetable for withdrawal that
signals a lack of resolve to our friends, and lets our enemies believe
they can wait us out. As long as we’re in to win, and as long as troop
level decisions are based on conditions on the ground and the advice of
our military commanders, I support President Obama’s decision (Palin, 2009, ¶4).

Master List of Governor Palin’s 2009 Accomplishments

Posted by Ron Devito on November 30, 2009

Updated November 30, 2009 at 1330 (1:30 PM) EST.

Following is a categorized Master List of Governor Palin’s accomplishments for 2009 with links to each accomplishment item and selected photos. This is a lengthy list, yet as of this writing only covers less than seven months. The Master List will be updated as accomplishment items are added, permanently linked in the Reference Blogs box (on Google Blog), and occasionally time/date stamp re-posted (perhaps quarterly).

Blogs are ephemeral in that entries are buried as more are added. Sure, readers can search by key words, but that is no substitute for a categorized index. Through this Master List, readers can see precisely what Governor Palin has achieved in just these nine months alone. If this list were to be printed, it would be over 30 pages.

Note: items also reflect how this blog has matured over time.

Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA)

AGIA will result in a 1,715-mile natural gas pipeline to run from Alaska’s North Slope to a connecting point in Alberta, Canada and end 30 years of pipe dreaming about same. The pipeline will bring Alaskan natural gas to the Lower 48 states. The pipeline is expected to be complete in 2019. It will be North America’s largest infrastructure project. This achievement alone is more than most of us do in an entire lifetime.
