Danny Strong Lies Again – claims ‘minimal conservative backlash’ to ‘Game Change’

Posted by Sarah Palin Web Brigade on May 18, 2012

As if the farcical movie ‘Game Change’ wasn’t itself full of enough lies, producer Danny Strong just made this patently  false statement (emphasis mine):

The film’s producers, director Jay Roach, and Strong were prepared for an outcry from conservatives, but it didn’t really materialize. He said, “It was an extremely minimal conservative backlash. The only backlash was amongst Sarah Palin’s aides, and those are people who are on Sarah Palin’s payroll. As far as the mainstream conservative press – the Washington Times, the Washington Examiner, Fox News – I felt that there was very little backlash to the film, and I think part of that was because of how fair the film was and how the film went to great pains to show you Sarah Palin’s point of view and John McCain’s point of view.”

Contrary to Strong’s prevarication, there was a very strong conservative backlash to the ‘Game Change’ movie.  For example, John McCain told FOX News Sunday that he would not watch the movie and that “It’s based on a book that’s completely biased and with unattributed quotes, et cetera.”    In his Wall Street Journal article this week about the vice presidential vetting process,  A. B. Culverhouse, the DC attorney who was in charge of vetting Sarah Palin,  described the movie as “the revisionist HBO movie about that campaign” .   Governor Palin herself referred to the movie as a false narrative.  After the U. S. Embassy in Singapore screened ‘Game Change,’  SarahPAC sent the Ambassador a copy of ‘The Undefeated’.   The PAC also posted a statement criticizing the movie.  The Maryland4Palin unit of Organize4Palin  handed out playbills branding the movie as a false narrative to attendees as they arrived for the DC premiere of ‘Game Change’.   And yes, several of Governor Palin’s aides did make public statements about the inaccuracies in the movie and also engaged in a conference call condemning the movie.

Mark Levin condemned Schmidt and Wallace as evil two-faced cowards – The Right Scoop has the video here.   Rush Limbaugh described it as a “cartoon” and said it was part of the Democrat Party’s war on women.  See also his discussion of the movie while it was still in the works.  Glenn Beck (video here) said that the movie producers were likely attacking Governor Palin’s credibility to prevent her from running for office again.  Stephen Bannon’s Victory Films contracted with the Reelz Channel to air ‘The Undefeated’ the same weekend as the premiere of the ‘Game Change’ movie.

The Palin blogosphere was afire with articles refudiating the movie and its contents.  (See our Game Change page for a sampling.)   Palin-friendly blogs, large and small, joined in the fray.  Breitbart.com authors wrote a series of articles condemning the Game Change Movie as a false narrative.  Blogs like The Daily Caller,   Conservatives4Palin,  The Other McCain,  The Gateway Pundit, and a number of other blogs in the Palin community condemned the movie and defended Governor Palin.

So where’s your “minimal conservative backlash,”  Danny Strong?

Flipping the Script on ‘Game Change’

Posted by Adrienne Ross on March 1, 2012

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

Rachel Weiner published an article at The Washington Post today entitled “Sarah Palin wants to rewrite ‘Game Change’ history.” That’s an interesting title considering the fact that HBO is the party guilty of attempting to rewrite actual American history in their hit piece, set to air on March 10th.

Weiner takes umbrage at the fact that the Governor’s staff has chosen not to take this one sitting down but has pushed back against the lies contained in Game Change. How dare this much-accomplished former governor and reformer right the wrongs and defend her true record, rather than grin and bear it. How dare her staff speak the truth? Don’t they know they’re expected to just shut up while revisionists do yet another hatchet job on her record?

Weiner writes:

Right now it seems almost as if Sarah Palin’s political action committee has one goal and one goal only: Discredit the movie “Game Change.”

[…]

Palin has also always had trouble ignoring her critics, a reflexive defensiveness that has dogged her since 2008. Taking on “Game Change” may only give HBO more buzz, but she continues anyway.

The Governor wants to discredit the movie? You think? Is she expected to validate it, when it is blatant fiction designed only to make money while feeding the monster that is the wild imagination of Hollywood and other far left types? Perhaps Weiner’s indignation would be better served trying to figure out why the left “has one goal and one goal only”: Discredit the patriot Sarah Palin.

This is what bothers people like Weiner: not only does Governor Palin’s staff smack down the huge lie of Game Change, but they do so using undeniable evidence. “Game Change We Can Believe In,” the video SarahPAC released today, goes beyond the words of other aides who worked alongside the Governor and have called out the movie for the charade that it is. This video is a collage of words and interviews from none other than Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace, who are the sources behind the lies found in the HBO movie. It’s interesting how on the record, for all to see and hear, they sang her praises–and rightly so. But after their own inept handling of the campaign–and subsequent loss–they chose to place blame on Governor Palin to cover their own tails. How is the public expected to believe anything that comes from these two self-serving characters?

So what is the truth that Weiner would like to help obscure? Governor Palin is a great American who has spent the last two decades in public service for the right reasons. She achieved success through hard work, tenacity, and great instincts. She didn’t rely on a last name, she wasn’t handed a mantle, she wasn’t for sale, and she was more focused on character than what exposing corruption would cost her. As the first woman governor of Alaska, and the youngest, she relied on grassroots efforts, won, and served the people. She governed as a fiscal conservative. She cut the budget. She returned money to the people. She honored the state Constitution. She fought for energy independence and secured the largest private sector energy project in the history of North America. She had an approval rating close to 90 percent. How many other governors could boast this kind of record? And this is only a cursory run-down.

She was chosen to run alongside Senator McCain because he knew her record and knew she could ignite the American people–which she did and continues to do to this day. Her stellar record is irrefutable and has a distinct place in history. Why, therefore, wouldn’t she make a case against a movie which depicts her as unstable, unintelligent, and unfit to lead in this nation? She’s been leading all along, even before the left–and right–realized she was a threat to their cozy, cushy, status quo establishments. She would be remiss not to stand up and speak out against these malicious lies.

Far left radicals believe their side has the right to create any narrative they choose. When the legs of their false memes are cut off, and the truth exposed, they cry foul: We’re supposed to tell the people what to believe, the people aren’t supposed to know any better, and the person defamed and slandered is supposed to just grin and bear it. Those are the rules, people. Got it?

No, what we get is that there is no limit to the extremes these people will go to in their attacks against Governor Palin while they make a load of money in the process. They advance their sick agenda by preying on people they view as too simple-minded to know better or too sheepish to check the record for themselves. In this, they insult the American people.

Clearly, they think we’re all stupid, for Weiner also writes:

While Palin and her aides have yet to see the movie, that fact hasn’t stopped them from relentlessly attacking the film. Two weeks ago, SarahPAC treasurer Tim Crawford told The Fix that he expected the movie to be filled with inaccuracies. Former aide Meg Stapleton called it “sick.” Palin herself told Fox News the book was “based on a false narrative.”

Weiner managed to get one thing right: aides have not seen the movie. Now, let’s tell the full story. They haven’t seen it because they were denied that opportunity.

As The New York Times reported last week:

The half-dozen former aides to Ms. Palin, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, said the network did not allow them to see the movie, which is based on the book “Game Change,” before being broadcast starting on March 10. But the advisers condemned it based on two short trailers and accounts of it in the press.

If HBO is so proud of their work of art, if they are assured of its accuracy, why would they prohibit those closest to the Governor from viewing the film? Simple: they knew that those cognizant of the truth would come out strongly against their film. Weiner’s suggestion that Governor Palin’s aides should keep their mouths shut since they haven’t seen Game Change is laughable, a lame attempt to silence the opposition, and another scheme to pull the wool over the American people’s eyes. The trailers alone give reason to totally reject and aggressively denounce the movie as a work of sick fiction. In fact, the language used to denounce the film didn’t go far enough in its description of Game Change. “Sick” is too kind.

Thankfully, there are those who are interested in truth. Mr L of Mr. L’s Tavern encourages people to turn off HBO (Why bother even turning it on–ever?) on March 10th and turn on the Reelz Channel March 11th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern to see The Undefeated. He writes:

By now, those who subscribe to HBO have seen the trailer for the upcoming original movie Game Change. The film is based on a book by the same name. The players involved in the making of Game Change have been exposed as Obama supporters and financial donors. The sources used in the book and film are unsupported and unidentified. The film’s portrayal of Gov. Palin has been panned by former agenda-less McCain aides as pure fiction. Please read the articles linked below and be sure to pass this along to your friends and family.
Let’s all turn off HBO and tune into REELZ on March 11 for the television premier of The Undefeated to know the real story of Sarah Palin.

I applaud the Governor and her staff members for refusing to allow Hollywood, the media, Steve Schmidt, and Nicolle Wallace to recreate history. Governor Palin’s actual history is highlighted with accuracy in Stephen Bannon’s The Undefeated. Individuals who are interested in fact over fiction should be sure to watch it–and learn exactly why Senator McCain chose her to help him change the game in 2008.

Big Hollywood: Palin Carried McCain Until He Changed the Game

Posted by Adrienne Ross on February 24, 2012

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

I am glad to see that more people are stepping up to denounce HBO’s representation of Governor Palin during the 2008 election (though still summoning Senator McCain). Game Change is a work of fiction disguised as fact, so in the interest of truth, we will continue to expose it for what it is. Joel B. Pollak wrote an article for Big Hollywood in which he described his experience with the campaign. Here’s an excerpt:

But here’s the truth about the McCain-Palin campaign, which HBO’s upcoming “Game Change” film attempts to shroud in fanciful anti-Palin fiction: Palin carried the campaign. She would have led the Republicans to victory had it not been for the September financial collapse and McCain’s disastrous decision to suspend his campaign so that he could vote for the TARP bailout in Washington.

The Democrats knew it, too. That fall, I was back in the classroom at Harvard Law School, surrounded by students and faculty who not only supported Sen. Barack Obama but were, in some cases, involved in his campaign at senior levels. They feared Palin and, after her arrival, could barely talk about the election without a sense of dread. They had no answer for her optimism, her authenticity, her femininity and her courage.

On the ground in New Hampshire, where I volunteered after classes and on weekends, Palin’s nomination had led to a sudden groundswell of support. Where McCain had struggled to fill an arena, lines outside events featuring Palin seemed miles long. She had awakened and rallied the conservative base.

[…]

After the election, when the Republican establishment began to self-destruct, Palin rallied the conservative base yet again. She became an important voice in the burgeoning Tea Party movement. She helped lead Republicans to the greatest congressional victory in several generations. Her success stopped the Obama agenda dead in its tracks. That’s a real “game change” worthy of a film – and the story’s still being written.

Sarah Palin on Rusty Humphries Show

Posted by Shane Vander Hart on December 4, 2009

By Shane Vander Hart, Caffeinated Thoughts

Governor Sarah Palin was on the Rusty Humphries Show yesterday in between book signings.  This was a different interview, as he didn’t want to ask her the same questions that she had been asked numerous times already (listeners also submitted questions).  So they discussed ANWR, economy, illegal immigration, Climategate (which she did a Facebook post on yesterday), Obama’s birth certificate and past associations, and much more.  You can listen to the interview here.

She received some criticism over her answer to Obama’s birth certificate, so she responded via Facebook:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask… which they have repeatedly. But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

HT: Josh Painter for the heads up on the interview.
