Palin and Clinton Virtually Tied for America’s Most Admired Woman

Posted by Dr. Fay on December 30, 2009

A poll taken by USA Today between December 11-13 finds Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton virtually tied as America’s most admired woman:

…a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, while Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are virtually tied as the most-admired woman.

The close finish by Clinton, named by 16% in the open-ended survey, and Palin, named by 15%, reflects the nation’s partisan divide. Clinton was cited by nearly 3 in 10 Democrats but only 6% of Republicans, Palin by a third of Republicans but less than 1% of Democrats.

USA Today: People “voted with their pocketbooks” for ‘Going Rogue’

Posted by Dr. Fay on December 26, 2009

According to USA Today, Obama’s two books trailed two other new books in the fall as “book buyers voted with their pocketbooks.”  Edward Kennedy’s memoir made it to the No. 2 spot in September, but Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue has held the No. 1 spot since its debut on November 26:

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin ‘s memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life , made its debut at No. 1 Nov. 26 and has remained in the top spot for five straight weeks, setting a record for political books.

USA Today: Palin’s Book Going Strong – Sets Record for 2009

Posted by Dr. Fay on December 24, 2009

USA Today notes:

TOP 150: See what’s moving on our Best-Selling Books list

Palin, going strong: Sarah Palin‘s memoir, Going Rogue, is the first and only book of 2009 to remain at No. 1 on the list for five consecutive weeks. Three other titles —Dan Brown‘s The Lost Symbol, Glenn Beck‘s Common Sense and Stephenie Meyer‘s New Moon — held the No. 1 spot for four straight weeks earlier this year. Borders vice president Larry Norton says the chain has been “pleasantly surprised how well the book has held up after the initial burst of publicity. Usually, big celebrity books burn brightly, but not for this long.” Publisher HarperCollins says Palin signed 58,000 books on her 25-state book tour that ended Tuesday in Alaska.
