Gov. Palin: Obama is mistaken. Again.

Posted by joshpainter on March 14, 2011

– by Josh Painter

For the second time in three days, Sarah Palin used Twitter to call President Obama out for his misleading statements on U.S. domestic oil reserves and production. She tweeted late Sunday afternoon:

“Pres is mistaken. Again. Claims we control 2% world’s oil & he ‘boosts production’?Who advises him?Who writes his stuff? Why won’t press ask?”

John Hinderaker explains the 2% deception:

That two percent figure is one that you hear all the time from liberals. It refers to the fact that the United States has only two percent of the world’s “proven reserves” of petroleum. This is what a character in a Nabokov novel called a “doughnut truth”–the truth, the whole truth, with a hole in the truth. Here is the hole: there is no universal definition of “proven reserves,” and “proven reserves” do not represent what Obama called “every single reserve available to us.”

[…]

Liberals like Barack Obama imply that America only has two percent of the world’s petroleum, but that is completely false. We only have two percent of the “proven reserves” that are recoverable under current “government regulations” and at current petroleum prices. We could increase our proven reserves overnight by opening up new areas to exploration and development; ANWR is just one of many examples. And our proven reserves increase every time the price of oil rises.

Under American law, there is another category of petroleum in the ground called “undiscovered technically recoverable oil.” I believe this category is also limited to areas that are legally available for development, but nevertheless, this category encompasses an enormous amount of energy…

As for “boosting production,” Obama is falsely taking credit for production growth which occurred over the last decade, even though he has only been in the White House for a little over two years, as Steve Maley points out:

Obama Administration policies had nothing whatever to do with the production buildup in late ‘09 into early 2010.

That production growth is due almost entirely to a handful of large deepwater fields, notably BP’s Thunder Horse, which came on production during that time frame.

”First oil” came on June 14, 2008. Since then, Thunder Horse has steadily ramped up its production by bringing on new wells. In March 2009, Thunder Horse produced close to 250,000 barrels per day (40,000 m3/d) oil equivalent in oil and natural gas from seven wells.

So Thunder Horse by itself accounts for almost all of that abrupt ramp-up in oil production.

Does Obama deserve credit?

Thunder Horse sits in 6,200 feet of water. The leases date from 1988 (Reagan) and 1994 (Clinton). The discovery well was drilled in 1999, and the platform was set in 2005, during the George W. Bush Administration.

Due to the Deepwater Moratorium/Permitorium and the shutdown of the Offshore Leasing Program, we have essentially stopped looking for the next Thunder Horse.

Instead, half the available rig fleet sits idle due to a lack of permits. The BOEMRE’s current permitting backlog is comprised of 270 shallow-water and 52 deepwater wells. The Obama Adminstration threatens to reject seven of the outstanding deepwater permits rather than comply with Judge Feldman’s order to approve them or show cause within 30 days.

Production elsewhere in the U.S. has also increased, but no thanks to Obama’s policies. It is industry ingenuity and competitiveness that has led the production growth, in the Bakken Shale of North Dakota, the Eagleford Shale of South Texas and in the Permian Basin of West Texas. This increase is driven by technology (horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing) and by product prices. None of these areas are primarily on Federal lands; they have excelled in spite of hostile Federal policies, not because of them.

On Friday, Gov. Palin also criticized Obama’s false claims about domestic energy.

Sarah Palin Said Kill Them (aka A lie told often enough becomes truth. – Lenin)

Posted by Karen Allen on March 25, 2010

No kidding. She did. Sarah Palin told everyone that was mad about the newly christened health care reform bill to shoot every last freaking Democrat that was responsible for it. Need proof?

See?

Oh, and that OpenBeak thing, in case you don’t know, is a Blackberry app. I have it too. And like Gov. Palin, I sit around watching my kids play sports, whilst thumbing out directives to carry out my dirty deeds. Is there a hit list, you ask? Sure as shootin’! It’s right there below. Yeppers, I am that obvious. I want people dead. And I advertise it on Facebook and Twitter for the entire world to see.

Seriously, I cannot even believe I am having to address this. And yes, I have to. Showing up in my Yahoo alerts email today was this snippet from The Hook, emphasis mine.

Gas party? FBI investigates cut line at Perriello home
by Dave McNair
published 3:10pm Wednesday Mar 24, 2010

The day after former VP candidate Sarah Palin encouraged her Facebook friends to “print pink slips” for members of Congress who voted for President Obama’s “disasterous” healthcare package, including 5th District Representative Tom Perriello, Politico reports that the FBI is investigating a cut gas line at the Charlottesville home of Perriello’s brother—who is married and has two small children—which County spokesperson Lee Catlin is calling a “suspicious incident.”

Hmmm, I thought, I suppose they are trying to somehow make a connection…a very loose connection…sort of like the one the plumber made under my sink which led to a flooded kitchen floor last week. Ah well, I figured, what’s one dumb author?

Unfortunately, the unfounded connection didn’t end there. Later today I found out the Anchorage Daily News had published an article entitled “Palin’s firearms-themed rhetoric called dangerous”. Well, again, I thought, they’ve never been a cheerleader for her, even though she’s provided them more income in the last few years than they would have ever had alone, so what would one expect?

Most likely, you can tell where I’m headed with this story. The search engines easily bring up the insane and completely baseless logic that Gov. Palin is making a literal call to arms, effectively ordering the heads of Democrats be brought to her on a platter. In a desperate attempt to draw the attention away from the health care fiasco that even the president’s own party is just now discovering the entrails of, the media and their “bring down Palin at all costs” blogger buddies have launched a Can You Believe She Ordered Democrats Killed? campaign.

Let me remind you these are the same people that went bonkers when that nutjob started shooting up the Pentagon last month. “He was a right wing extremist and 9-11 truther!” they published everywhere. Not surprisingly, they shut up real quick when it came out the guy was a long time registered Democrat. Whoops.

The ADN had one thing right in their article title though…”firearms-themed.” Yes, her words and chart had a theme as such to them…she is after all an avid hunter and gun owner advocate. Be aware though that Gov. Palin isn’t the only politician or author to ever use such terms. Here’s a few, just from a quick Google search, emphasis mine. You could get the idea from them that the Dems are just targeting and bombing away! And if you search the key phrase “Democrats take aim”, you will get a looooong list.

Chron.com: Wary Democrats drawing provisional bead on Dean

It’s beginning to dawn on Democrats that they may not win control of the House or Senate in the November elections, so a pre-emptive blame game has begun.

Even after those examples, some critics will point to the rumored threats that were hurled at House reps this past weekend as proof that we on the right are violent. I’ve seen no proof of those threats, but I will tell you that the violence that was done to the American people and our Constitution during this past week has been life threatening in more ways than one. People are mad to say the least. For Democrat lawmakers to feign ignorance and not understand that point is pure malarky.

But let ME be clear…to accuse Gov. Sarah Palin of purposely encouraging and inciting physical trauma toward those spineless Democrats responsible for the health care fiasco is extreme, slanderous, and without merit.

No more than the Democrats as a whole are at fault for the Pentagon shooter or the whackos that threw eggs and tomatoes in Gov. Palin’s direction during her book tour or the Black Panthers that in 2008 stood outside the PA polling place with a nightstick, than is Gov. Palin at fault for those that do illegal acts of cutting gas lines or throwing bricks.

Stop making things up, media and left wing bloggers. Pictured below are the real people you should be concerned about…worry about them. Stop them. Prevent them from hurting America.

Even possibly more dangerous are the illiterate ones. (h/t @gary4205)

Sarah Palin Is Tweeting Again

Posted by Sarah Palin Web Brigade on November 19, 2009

In case you haven’t noticed, Sarah Palin is tweeting again. Her first tweet from the SarahPalinUSA Twitter account was sent after her first book signing event in Michigan.

A second tweet followed as her tour bus crossed the Indiana state line:

Governor Palin’s AKGovSarahPalin Twitter site has now been deleted, but an archive of all her tweets on that site can be found here. Ron Devito captured screenshots of all the tweets shortly before the site was deleted. Her last tweet on that site announced: ” This account will be deleted soon…a private account has been established @ SarahPalinUSA”.

Happy Tweeting, Governor Palin! We look forward to each and every tweet that comes “flying” from your fingers!
