Worried About Death Panels? How about Marriage Panels!

Sarah Palin has made the phrase “death panels” part of the national lexicon. Sarah brought to light the fact that any time you have a government take over of health care, you will have rationing of services, and someone in government, a nameless, faceless drone, will decide who gets life saving treatments and who is deemed “unworthy.” Sarah has called this “downright evil,” and we agree.

The new 2000 page PelosiCare fiasco takes 22 pages to set up the structure for these “death panels.” (Pages 739-760) The “Comparative Effectiveness Panels” will be made up of doctors, bureaucrats, and experts on “health economics.”

It doesn’t explicitly give government the power to dictate treatments. In fact, it does explicitly say that federal officers cannot dictate them, but findings by this panel will be used as baselines for payment by insurers, including the federal government, when it comes to deciding what options for treatment are available to whom. After all, comparative effectiveness is explicitly a rationing process.

Rationing, by definition, will lead to certain people who are deemed “past their usefulness to society” being denied life saving health care. Those coming up with the criteria for this are indeed “death panels.”

As frightening as “death panels” are, this is just the start of what a run away Big Government nanny state can do to you. Once you let the Statist in, you are stuck with him, and he is not a nice guest.

This story comes from the United Kingdom, which has some of the poorest health care in the civilized world. The people are at their wit’s end, and the country is trying to figure out how to get away from their public system, their government controlled behemoth, and revert back to a system that makes sense.

Just how bad is the Big Government mess over there? Well, now their “death panels” are determining who is allowed to marry, and who is not. Who is allowed to have children, and who is not.

Hitler and Mengele would be proud. So would Chairman Mao.

Kerry Robertson, 17, and Mark McDougall, 25, haven’t broken any law. But they are on the run from the authorities, and from their home in Dunfermline, Scotland.

Less than eight weeks ago the couple were excitedly planning their wedding. They had booked church ceremony for the 5th of September, a Saturday. She had already chosen and bought her wedding dress. They had bought the rings, and invited 20 guests. Two days before the big day, however, social services told them that their wedding would have to be cancelled. Fife Council wrote a letter, objecting to the marriage, to Dunfermline Register Office, who consequently refused to marry the couple.

Social services claim Kerry cannot understand what marriage means, because she has learning difficulties. They are mild, it seems. She is able to read and write, and is going to college to “catch up.” Her partner Mark told the Daily Mail: “‘I didn’t even know she had learning difficulties until we’d been dating for two months.”

Kerry is 29 weeks pregnant – with a boy they have named Ben. “Although Ben isn’t born yet,” Kerry says, “I already love my baby and know I will be a good mum. Mark and I talk to him inside me every day and tell him we love him. We’ve already bought him clothes and my cousin, who recently had a baby, has handed down a beautiful crib for him.”

Social services say that Kerry – a college student – isn’t intelligent enough to bring up her child with Mark. They plan to allow the couple only a few hours with Ben after he is born. Then Ben will be taken from Kerry and Mark, and placed with foster parents.

Let’s think about this for a minute.

Here are a couple of young kids in love. They were excited and planning a nice wedding, when all of a sudden, a Big Government drone steps in and through their own “expertise” decides they are not fit to be parents because the girl is a little “slow.”

Under those guidelines, if adopted in America, would Barack Obama be allowed to keep his kids? I mean this is the guy that thought he had traveled to 57 states on the campaign, and had 1 or 2 to go. Would that make Obama a little “slow” in the eyes of the almighty bureaucrat?

Can you imagine?

This story isn’t something that happened in Hitler’s Nazi Germany or Chairman Mao’s Red China, this is happening right now in Scotland, a supposed free nation.

These aren’t mentally defective kids. The girl, Kerry, is in college for goodness sake!

Now I realize having a college “education” doesn’t equal smart, and certainly doesn’t guarantee common sense or ability, I mean look at the Ivy League buffoons who we have in charge of things now. Educated well above their intelligence, that’s for damned sure!

With that being said, just how “slow” could Kerry be if she managed to get herself in college?

Now I know, you are saying: “This is America, it can’t happen here.” Uh huh, we were saying the same thing about ObamaCare and PelosiCare just a day ago!

The same people who are bringing you “death panels” here in America, and who knows what else are EXACTLY the people who will tell you who to marry and whether or not you will be allowed to keep your child.

Remember, Obama’s “Science Czar,” John Holdren, thinks our Constitution gives the government the right to force you to have an abortion! Margaret Sanger is probably looking up from her Klu Klux Klan or Planned Parenthood meeting in hell, with great approval.

These people who will bring you “death panels” are the same people who have forced trans fats out of restaurants “for our own good.” These purveyors of tyranny are the ones who have forced people to stop smoking cigarettes, a legal product, almost everywhere, including in some cases, their own homes.

These nanny staters who will run you “health care” are the people who are trying to tax soda water and other soft drinks and juices in order to get you to “modify your habits,” you know, “for your own good.” They also want to tax fast food, and even regulate where these eatin’ joints are allowed, again, for your own good, because well, you didn’t go to Harvard, and you are obviously too “slow.” to get it!

Wait a minute, didn’t our “president” go to Harvard? Not a ringing endorsement for higher education, is it?

As Thomas Jefferson once said: “Any government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take away everything you have.” That includes all of your liberties and freedoms. You know, like the freedom to get married and have a baby.

One should also reflect long and hard these words by Benjamin Franklin: “Those who would sacrifice their freedom for temporary security deserve neither.”

You have a choice to make, right here, right now. Are you going to allow this government to pass this unconstitutional monstrosity known as Obama/Pelosi care, and lose every single ounce of your liberty and freedom, or are you going to fight these maniacal communists with your dying breath to retain your freedom and liberty, and the liberty of all of the future generations to follow?

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

Like many Americans, I’m very concerned about the efforts underway to rush through the 2,000 page Pelosi health care bill this weekend. Why the rush? That’s a lot of pages to read. Why not give everyone the chance to read it and debate it?

How much will this bill cost us? It’s unclear because the figures coming out of Washington keep changing – and always in the direction of costing more, not less. The latest numbers show it will cost more than a trillion dollars over the decade, but when has a government program ever come in on or under budget?

How will we pay for it? Taxes, of course – and not just on the “rich” (you know, the people who spur the economy by buying goods and running companies that employ people), but also on just about everyone, especially small businesses – the job-creating engine of our economy. One of the points of health care reform was to help small businesses with the cost, but this bill hurts them – and right at a time when so many Americans are out of work and need the jobs that small businesses produce.

What’s in this bill? The “death panel” provision is in it. Medicare cuts are in it. Coverage of illegal immigrants is in it. And federal funding for abortion is in it. I commend the many Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are taking a principled stance to fight this.

I had a message for Speaker Pelosi in a speech I gave last night for the Wisconsin Right to Life – “please, please don’t break the ‘transparency promise’ by prohibiting at least a vote of your colleagues on funding abortion-on-demand.”

Speaker Pelosi has already broken many promises thus far in this “reform” exercise. She promised that this would be a bi-partisan effort, but the bill she’s pushing isn’t bi-partisan. She promised that the final version of the bill would be posted online 72 hours before it comes to a vote so that the American people could clearly see what’s in it and how we will pay for it. But she broke that promise too when she decided to rush the bill to a vote this weekend.

The speaker must be held accountable for her broken promises. Now is the time for Americans who believe in the free market and who believe that we need policies that promote job growth instead of job loss to say once and for all, “Enough!” Stand up and make your voices heard before it’s too late. Call and email your representatives and tell them to vote “no” on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote “no” to sending them back to Washington when we go to the polls in less than 12 months.

Barack Obama’s Dr. Death Cuts And Runs When Confronted About His Nazi-Like Death Panels, And Other Bedtime Stories About Czars!

In the above video, panelists warn of the revival of eugenics under Barack Obama’s government health care takeover, through the denial of care to millions who would be judged not fit to live, just as in Nazi Germany.

Historian Anton Chaitkin does a wonderful job of exposing Dr. Death, who then realizes he has other business to attend to, and bails out before he really has to answer the allegations. As you heard on the tape, another unidentified attendee tries to ask a question about Dr. Death’s support of assisted suicide, which is quickly brushed aside.

Dr. Death, is basically a coward! If you are going to have the sort of disturbing notions this guy has, then you should be made to sit and defend them. But I guess it’s hard to defend the indefensible.

A few weeks back Sarah Palin introduced the nation to Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, Barack Obama’s “health adviser” and brother of White House Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel. In other words, Dr. Death.

When Sarah coined the term “death panels” she had Dr. Death in mind.

Now it’s been fun watching democrat/communists and ignorant Republicans scramble and try to say there are no “death panels.” Or even more hilarious, try and claim the so-called “end of life counseling” wasn’t a “death panel” but a good thing. Hell, I’ve even seen politicians and people that I actually thought had a half a brain go down this road. Very disappointing, but at least it helped me learn who not to worry about listening to any more!

You see Sarah Palin, and others, never mentioned “end of life counseling “or said it was a bad thing. As some of the left wing correctly noted (yes, I know, there truly IS a first time for everything) Sarah herself had passed a resolution as Governor of Alaska urging seniors to talk to their doctors and family about end of life decisions, and living wills. Of course, these weren’t to be government mandated programs, she was merely wanting to make sure seniors know these services were available through doctors and attorneys.

Oh the democrat/communists had Sarah now. They had her with the strawberries!

Well, not quite. You see unlike most of the media, and pretty much all of the politicians, on both sides, Sarah had actually done her homework on Obama, and his radical friends. Remember that warning she gave you about who Obama was “palin’ around with?” Well, as we have seen with Van Jones, Jeff Jones, Cass Sunstein, Mark Lloyd, Dr Death, and God only knows how many more, violent terrorist Bill Ayers was just the tip of a very large iceberg!

What we now know about Dr Death is that he, like many of Obama’s so-called Czars, is an absolute loon. I mean crazy, insane, perhaps psychotic. Dr Death is one of the main characters, in what would be a horribly cheesy SciFi movie, if he didn’t actually have the full attention of the President of the United States!

I know some of our more gentle readers get a bit weak in the knees when we start talking Nazis and the Obama administration, but other than early 20th Century American “progressives” who were very strong believers in eugenics, nothing and no one else can compare the group of truly evil men and woman that Obama has chosen to advise him on his Obamacare fiasco, as well as other misadventures he has planned.

Dr Death has been appointed to two key positions: health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget and a member of Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research.

Here are some of the various thoughts Dr Death has expressed regarding the administration of health care:

Vague promises of savings from cutting waste, enhancing prevention and wellness, installing electronic medical records and improving quality are merely ‘lipstick’ cost control, more for show and public relations than for true change.

Savings,, will require changing how doctors think about their patients: Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, “as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others”

(Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008)

Yeah, you heard that right. Dr. Death thinks that other doctors should just blow off their sacred Hippocratic Oath, for the “greater good!” I mean why give quality care to the old people, who worked all of their lives and made American the great nation it is, when someone younger might benefit more!

Dr. Death wants doctors to look beyond the needs of their patients and consider social justice, such as whether the money could be better spent on somebody else. “Social justice” is a communist code phrase that basically means income or wealth distribution.

All of a sudden old Joe-the-Plumber isn’t looking so stupid anymore, is he! He too tried to warn America about Obama and his desire the “spread the wealth.”

Emanuel believes that “communitarianism” should guide decisions on who gets care. He says medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens . . . An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia”

Translation: Don’t give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson’s or a child with cerebral palsy. Or children with Downs Syndrome. Gee, no wonder Sarah Palin doesn’t think very highly of this guy!

Here is how this obviously disturbed man justifies this:

Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination; every person lives through different life stages rather than being a single age. Even if 25-year-olds receive priority over 65-year-olds, everyone who is 65 years now was previously 25 years”

(Lancet, Jan. 31)

Now, did you follow that nonsense?

Basically he is saying that because you might have benefitted from superior health care when you 25, you are no longer entitled to it at age 65, because, well, you benefitted from it when you were 25!

Most 25 year olds are indestructible, at least in their own mind! Unless they are indeed disabled, which would doom them to those “death panels,” 25 year olds don’t need a lot of maintenance! Only a severe injury would normally see a healthy 25 year old needing a great deal of medical care and attention.

On the other hand, at 65, a productive member of society, someone who worked all of their adult life, and more than likely even as a youngster, will indeed need more medical care. I’m a long way from 65, but I’m also well past 25, and I can testify that as we get older, we find the need for more care!

Now in the sane world, the one we live in, someone at age 65, a person who helped make America the greatest nation on earth, someone who contributed a lifetime to working hard, rasing a family, and in the words of the communist, contributed to the “greater good”, doesn’t deserve to be forgotten, left to suffer from ailments that are easily treatable in America, and have been for decades, simply so someone else can have treatment.

Communism is evil in all of it’s forms. It is immoral for the government to steal money from those who earn the money and create society, and give it to those who don’t. If wealth distribution is evil, then what can we say of arbitrary health care re-distribution?

As communism and socialism are simply different sides of the same coin, I find this quote quite appropriate:

Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. It’s inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

Dr Death believes in the so-called Complete Lives System. He has written:

Because none of the currently used systems satisfy all ethical requirements for just allocation, we propose an alternative:

Youngest-first, prognosis, save the most lives, lottery, and instrumental value..… When implemented, the complete lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated … the complete lives system is least vulnerable to corruption. Age can be established quickly and accurately from identity documents. Prognosis allocation encourages physicians to improve patients’ health, unlike the perverse incentives to sicken patients or misrepresent health that the sickest-first allocation creates.

A summary from Lancet:

Allocation of very scarce medical interventions such as organs and vaccines is a persistent ethical challenge. We evaluate eight simple allocation principles that can be classified into four categories: treating people equally, favouring the worst-off, maximising total benefits, and promoting and rewarding social usefulness. No single principle is sufficient to incorporate all morally relevant considerations and therefore individual principles must be combined into multiprinciple allocation systems. We evaluate three systems: the United Network for Organ Sharing points systems, quality-adjusted life-years, and disability-adjusted life-years. We recommend an alternative system—the complete lives system—which prioritises younger people who have not yet lived a complete life, and also incorporates prognosis, save the most lives, lottery, and instrumental value principles.

If you have been following the news, you’ll know that some provinces in Canada already have monthly lotteries to assign patients to doctors. How’s that for establishing a death panel!

Lest you think Dr Death is the only disturbing person advising Obama, fear not, he has literally dozens of these loons ready, willing, and able to play the lead role in this bad horror flick!

Let’s look at Cass Sunstein, Obama’s “Regulation’s Czar.” Now this guy will be turned loose on almost every facet of American life and allowed to force feed you his wild schemes.

One of Sunstein’s notions is that your organs do not belong to you, and that at your death, the state should be able to harvest your organs, for use elsewhere. Now on the one hand, it’s not like you will be needing them or anything, but there are First Amendment issues here. Issues about freedom of religion. Some religions simply do not condone the desecration of the human body at death.

In the book Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, And Happiness, Sunstein laments that the main reason people don’t donate their organs is that they don’t choose to do so.

Evidently, for democrat/communists, it’s “hands off my body” when they want to murder babies, and most feel it is wrong, but “let me at ‘em” when they want to snatch your body parts!

Funny, the pro-death abortion proponents are constantly screaming about “freedom of choice.” Can someone please explain to me just how a democrat/communist’s brain processes that sort of logic?

One thing about it, between these death panels, assisted suicide lovers, and baby killers, one can really and truthfully state that the democrat/communist party is nothing more than a death cult that also wants to steal your hard earned money to do insane and unproductive things with!

Again, this would be fun to watch if it was just a bad movie, and you were kicked back drinking an adult beverage and laughing at these people. Unfortunately, all of this bunch has the sympathetic ear of the President of the United States!

Oh, and by the way, stealing your organs isn’t even CLOSE to being the most insane thing Cass Sunstein believes!

Not even close!

Like the Nazis before them, the current crop of democrat/communists that surround Obama are “nature freaks.” And I don’t mean like someone who enjoys hanging out in the great outdoors I’m talking freaks!

In 2002 Our man Sunstein said this:

“Any animals that are entitled to bring suit would be represented by (human) counsel, who would owe guardian-like obligations and make decisions, subject to those obligations, on their clients’ behalf.”

That’s right, this guy who Obama wants to put in charge of regulating pretty much everything you do, thinks animals should be able to sue humans! In another time this moron would be locked in a padded cell until he achieved room temperature!

I might remind you that Sunstein is a Harvard “legal scholar.” Reason number 11,347 to never send your kids to an Ivy League school, hire anyone who has even been to one, and for the love of all that is holy, never, ever vote for someone who went to one!

But wait, there’s more!

Now I won’t bore you with Van Jones, the radical cop hating racist, self avowed communist, and 9/11 truther. Thanks to Glenn Beck, this guy has been sent packing, back to being an obscure, hate filled nobody. But he too is an other example of the sort that Obama loves to surround himself with.

No, I want to talk to you about Obama’s science Czar.

John Holdren is one of those really crazy people who sit around all day and fret about overpopulation. But, thankfully, this one has just the plan. This loon actually believes he can make the case that our Constitution would allow the state to force women to have abortions if they had more than the officially sanctioned number of children people like him, and Barack Obama, deem proper!

Holdren has also favored forced sterilization or forced contraception. He wrote this:

Of course, a government might require only implantation of the contraceptive capsule, leaving its removal to the individual’s discretion but requiring reimplantation after childbirth. Since having a child would require positive action (removal of the capsule), many more births would be prevented than in the reverse situation.

This guy has all sorts of schemes in his pointy Ivy League educated head. One of his brilliant ideas was to put sterilization chemicals in the nation’s drink water.

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development.

To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the oposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.

Again, there is no sign of such an agent on the horizon. And the risk of serious, unforeseen side effects would, in our opinion, militate against the use of any such agent, even though this plan has the advantage of avoiding the need for socioeconomic pressures that might tend to discriminate against particular groups or penalize children.

This sort of thing brings us back to the discussion of eugenics, and the above video. In the early 20th Century, eugenics were all the rage in America. All of the so-called intellectuals were enamored by the notion. One of the really prominent practitioners of this thought was Margaret Sanger. Sanger, who had ties to the Klan, founded Planned Parenthood as a way to rid the world of unwanted and undesirable children. She was naturally keen on aborting black babies, and this is truly one of the darkest legacies of the democrat/communist party. It is estimated that as many as 50 million black babies have been murdered by abortion over the decades.

Sanger, and her contemporaries were of great interest to Adolf Hitler, which of course, brings us full circle, and back to the Nazis. It was the American “progressive” movement that inspired Hitler with is idea for the Holocaust.

Now just in case you think these totally out of the mainstream and completely insane ideas do not reflect those of Barack Obama, allow me to point out that Obama supports infanticide. This is a truly barbaric act that is practiced when another barbaric act, late term abortion, is botched.

Basically, this ritual is practiced when an abortion mill doctor performs a late term abortion, but somehow botches the procedure and the baby survives, or, as normal humans call it, is born.

What is allowed to happen in these cases, is the new born baby is placed on a shelf, or in some dark closet until he or she perishes. It’s as inhumane as it comes. If only he or she was a puppy, Cass Sunstein would allow the baby to sue!

Now Obama is famous in the Illinois Senate for one thing, and one thing only, and that’s holding the record for voting “present” more than anything else. And yet, he managed to come out of his comma and vote against “born alive” legislation that would have outlawed this inhuman practice every time a bill would come up for a vote. You can learn more here.

Here’s the bottom line, Dr Death, Cass Sunstein, John Holdren, Barack Obama, and a whole cast of dozens more of these whacked-out Czars like them, have control of this nation. These Czars are illegal and unconstitutional. We must demand their removal. Every last one of them.

But you need to remember that these people want complete and total control of health care in America. And if you think that people who are in favor of forced sterilization, or forced organ harvesting don’t already have death panels ready to decide whether or not you are “worthy” of health care, then you have another thing coming.

Get off the couch, get in the game. Get involved and come together with like minded folks around you. Go to a tea party. Join the 9/12 Project. But get involved and don’t let up until all of these illegal and unconstitutional Czars have been sent packing. Don’t let up until Obama and the democrat/communists drop Obamacare and it is dead for good!

Then work as hard as you ever have in your life to help vote all of these people out of office in 2010 and 2012!

Sarah Palin: Troubling Questions Remain About Obama’s Health Care Plan. We Give The Final Word (Hopefully) On “Death Panels”

The big discussion in health care, thanks to Sarah Palin, has been those metaphoric “death panels.”

Now, I have to laugh out loud because the NYC/D.C. Beltway “elites” with their Ivy League educations have failed again to grasp common sense!

Now whether this is by design, or stupidity, I’ll let others debate, but it is obvious that education was wasted on those in Washington and in the media.

By now you have heard that key Senators in the Senate Finance Committee are saying they will take out certain “end of life” provisions of Obama’s disastrous health care fiasco.

“See, those death panels we swore were never there, now they’re gone!”

Now, these people actually think they’ve done something!

All better now.

Again, I don’t know if politicians and media are just inherently stupid, or are just playing it on TV.

The end of life “counseling” was troubling, for sure, and we have found cases in Oregon where cancer patients were offered suicide drugs, but not cancer treatments. Oregon has statewide socialist medicine as well as assisted suicide laws. It seems that many progressives are members of the Hemlock Society.

Folks, let me be clear. “Death panels” is a metaphor.

For you educated Ivy League “elites”, media and politicians alike see below:

You see, those “death panels” are not the end of life counseling, or anything associated with them.

As Sarah Palin, and many others have been pointing out for weeks now, the condition in every single nation that has socialized medicine is rationing. It’s inevitable!

Now we all know the 45 million or so uninsured number, that the democrats throw around at will, is complete bull. It’s likely less than half that number. Take out the illegal aliens, and those who are only temporarily uninsured due to a job change, and it’s even smaller still.

But let’s use their number (or even half of it)

How in the world are you going to add another 20-45 million people into a health care system without adding a substantial amount of new doctors, nurses, and other workers? How can you add 20-45 million people to the health care system without building new hospitals?

And of course, how can you add 20-45 million people to the health care system without spending a whole lot more money?

The answer is: You can’t!

Obama claims you can and that he will. But that’s a provable lie.

With the government takeover of health care, they will have set budgets. It will end up being first come first served.

Years ago, in Waco, Texas, East Waco, to be exact, there was a great barbecue joint. It was in the rough part of town, but all of the big shots loved to eat there. There was always a line out the door and into the street, at lunch time. And it was only open for lunch.

The place had been there since 1947 and the owner/cook/server/cashier was a real character. You went in, placed an order, which oddly enough, was called “an order.” “An order” consisted of roughly ½ pound of beef, however much bread he grabbed, and a coke! This was served on butcher paper, with no silverware, no napkins, no nothin’! He just served it up, and his helper, would take it, and you, to a long table where everyone sat. Pickles and onions could be had if you asked and if he thought you needed ‘em!

I’m not kidding!

It was heaven if you like good barbecue. Oh, and it came with a little bowl of drippins to dunk the meat in, and there was some serious hot sauce on the table.

Here’s the thing though. The old boy knew how much he wanted to sell every day, and how hard he wanted to work. He always made that much, and no more. You needed to want an early lunch if you were going there. Get there late and you might not get fed!

In fact, it wasn’t uncommon to be out in the street, or just inside the door, and hear him yell at his helper:

“Might as well tell them folks to go on over to the Chicken Shack and get a table, I’ll be over there myself pretty quick!”

That was his way of saying he was about done. Of course, few left, hoping his was playin’ around! But he always had more customers than food.

Why did I just tell you that story?

Well, if we allow Obama and the democrats to take over and destroy health care, we will always have more sick patients than doctors, nurses, hospitals, and money. Always.

So, at some point, folks will sit down and start looking for ways to save money, and cut the back load of patients. They will do this by cutting back on services and denying services to those they determine “not worth the effort.”

And there is your “death panel.”

Will they call it that?

Uhhh, nope.

They will be called “advisory boards” and have names like: “Standards and practices” or “patient care panels” or whatever Orwellian name they can come up with.

Sarah Palin has been hitting Obama really hard on this stuff, and has released another statement on why Obamacare is a disaster waiting to happen. Palin has something that is illegal, evidently, in Washington D.C. or New York City, and that is common sense.

Common sense dictates that the snake oil Obama is trying to sell isn’t going to work. And as we told you earlier this week, Sarah has had her own experience with the federal government and health care. When Sarah Palin assumed the Governor’s office Medicaid was an incredible mess in Alaska. Seniors faced long waits and iffy care. She worked to get emergency funding, and then cleaned up the system. The result was in two short years, she reduced the backlog for Medicaid patients by a whopping 83 %!

Look, it’s just this simple: Who do you trust?

Do you trust a rookie President who has never led anything in his life. A back bench state Senator of no importance, who after only serving 140 some odd days, abandoned his U.S. Senate job to run for President? A man who has never run a city, never run a state, never run a lemonade stand? A man who has never held a private sector job, never made a payroll, never had to worry about a budget, or turning a profit?

Or, do you listen to a proven leader. A woman who HAS run a city, HAS run a state, and HAS OWNED a successful small business for 20 years?

Look, congresscritters sit around and debate stuff. By nature, there are few if any leaders. It’s not much more than a big debate society that can write bad legislation on a regular basis.

As Governor of a state, Sarah Palin’s job mirrored that of the President’s. There is a reason why, in the United States, we generally elect Governors to be President, not Senators or congressmen. Being Governor is to lead. Being Governor is to actually have to accomplish something, rather than give it lip service. The buck stops at your desk.

Sarah Palin has already proven that she understands the health care issue better than most. She’s already had to clean up a big mess caused by a federal health care program that wasn’t working at all. When Sarah Palin warns of the looming disaster America faces if Obama and the democrats get their way, she speaks from first hand experience, not some theoretical mind exercise.

She’s actually been there, done that, and got the t-shirt from it!

With that said, Sarah has released some more concerns. Some food for thought, as it were , about the continuing problems with the Obamacare nightmare.

It’s time for us to defeat this mess, neuter Obama, and get ready to take back Congress in a big way. It’s time to run the democrats out of town for good, and get America back to what made it work, using strong conservative principles and ideas.

Troubling Questions Remain About Obama’s Health Care Plan

I join millions of Americans in expressing appreciation for the Senate Finance Committee’s decision to remove the provision in the pending health care bill that authorizes end-of-life consultations (Section 1233 of HR 3200). It’s gratifying that the voice of the people is getting through to Congress; however, that provision was not the only disturbing detail in this legislation; it was just one of the more obvious ones.

As I noted in my statement last week, nationalized health care inevitably leads to rationing. There is simply no way to cover everyone and hold down the costs at the same time. The rationing system proposed by one of President Obama’s key health care advisors is particularly disturbing. I’m speaking of the “Complete Lives System” advocated by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the president’s chief of staff. President Obama has not yet stated any opposition to the “Complete Lives System,” a system which, if enacted, would refuse to allocate medical resources to the elderly, the infirm, and the disabled who have less economic potential. [1] Why the silence from the president on this aspect of his nationalization of health care? Does he agree with the “Complete Lives System”? If not, then why is Dr. Emanuel his policy advisor? What is he advising the president on? I just learned that Dr. Emanuel is now distancing himself from his own work and claiming that his “thinking has evolved” on the question of rationing care to benefit the strong and deny the weak. [2] How convenient that he disavowed his own work only after the nature of his scholarship was revealed to the public at large.

The president is busy assuring us that we can keep our private insurance plans, but common sense (and basic economics) tells us otherwise. The public option in the Democratic health care plan will crowd out private insurers, and that’s what it’s intended to do. A single payer health care plan has been President Obama’s agenda all along, though he is now claiming otherwise. Don’t take my word for it. Here’s what he said back in 2003:

“I happen to be a proponent of a single payer universal health care plan…. A single payer health care plan – universal health care plan – that’s what I would like to see.” [3]

A single-payer health care plan might be what Obama would like to see, but is it what the rest of us would like to see? What does a single payer health care plan look like? We need look no further than other countries who have adopted such a plan. The picture isn’t pretty. [4] The only way they can control costs is to ration care. As I noted in my earlier statement quoting Thomas Sowell, government run health care won’t reduce the price of medical care; it will simply refuse to pay the price. The expensive innovative procedures that people from all over the world come to the United States for will not be available under a government plan that seeks to cover everyone by capping costs.

Our senior citizens are right to be wary of this health care bill. Medical care at the end of life accounts for 80 percent of all health care. When care is rationed, that is naturally where the cuts will be felt first. The “end-of-life” consultations authorized in Section 1233 of HR 3200 were an obvious and heavy handed attempt at pressuring people to reduce the financial burden on the system by minimizing their own care. Worst still, it actually provided a financial incentive to doctors to initiate these consultations. People are right to point out that such a provision doesn’t sound “purely voluntary.”

In an article I noted yesterday, Charles Lane wrote:

“Ideally, the delicate decisions about how to manage life’s end would be made in a setting that is neutral in both appearance and fact. Yes, it’s good to have a doctor’s perspective. But Section 1233 goes beyond facilitating doctor input to preferring it. Indeed, the measure would have an interested party — the government — recruit doctors to sell the elderly on living wills, hospice care and their associated providers, professions and organizations. You don’t have to be a right-wing wacko to question that approach.” [5]

I agree. Last year, I issued a proclamation for “Healthcare Decisions Day.” [6] The proclamation sought to increase the public’s knowledge about creating living wills and establishing powers of attorney. There was no incentive to choose one option over another. There was certainly no financial incentive for physicians to push anything. In fact, the proclamation explicitly called on medical professionals and lawyers “to volunteer their time and efforts” to provide information to the public.

Comparing the “Healthcare Decisions Day” proclamation to Section 1233 of HR 3200 is ridiculous. The two are like apples and oranges. The attempt to link the two shows how desperate the proponents of nationalized health care are to shift the debate away from the disturbing details of their bill.

There is one aspect of this bill which I have not addressed yet, but it’s a very obvious one. It’s the simple fact that we can’t afford it. But don’t take my word for it. Take the word of Doug Elmendorf, the director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. He told the Senate Budget Committee last month:

“In the legislation that has been reported we do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount. And on the contrary, the legislation significantly expands the federal responsibility for health care costs.” [7]

Dr. Elmendorf went on to note that this health care legislation would increase spending at an unsustainable rate.

Our nation is already $11.5 trillion in debt. Where will the money come from? Taxes, of course. And will a burdensome new tax help our economy recover? Of course not. The best way to encourage more health care coverage is to foster a strong economy where people can afford to purchase their own coverage if they choose to do so. The current administration’s economic policies have done nothing to help in this regard.

Health care is without a doubt a complex and contentious issue, but health care reform should be a market oriented solution. There are many ways we can reform the system and lower costs without nationalizing it.

The economist Arthur Laffer has taken the lead in pushing for a patient-center health care reform policy. He noted in a Wall Street Journal article earlier this month:

“A patient-centered health-care reform begins with individual ownership of insurance policies and leverages Health Savings Accounts, a low-premium, high-deductible alternative to traditional insurance that includes a tax-advantaged savings account. It allows people to purchase insurance policies across state lines and reduces the number of mandated benefits insurers are required to cover. It reallocates the majority of Medicaid spending into a simple voucher for low-income individuals to purchase their own insurance. And it reduces the cost of medical procedures by reforming tort liability laws.” [8]

Those are real reforms that we can live with and afford. Once again, I warn my fellow Americans that if we go down the path of nationalized health care, there will be no turning back. We must stop and think or we may find ourselves losing even more of our freedoms.

Like Shootin’ Moose In A Barrel, Sarah Palin Slaps Barack Obama Down Again Over Death Panels

Can you imagine being Barack Obama these days?

I mean here you are only seven and a half months into your one and only term as president and your whole world is crashing down around you. Your signature issue, turning America into some sort of communist utopia, by usurping the constitution through your “health care” plan, is circling the drain.

You have angry Americans who have never been politically active in their lives fired up against you and the rest of your party. You will basically go down in history as the person who destroyed the democrat party. An epic failure.

And then there is this woman who your minions have been trying to destroy for almost a year who has your number, big time!

First she let you and the party have just enough rope and then calmly wrote two words on her Facebook page, “death panels.”

Then she just kicked backed and watched you, the democrats, the RINOs, the media, and well, everybody, go nuts trying to get out of this mess.

Now normal people understand that there won’t literally be death panels.

They also understand, however, that between the various medical boards who will decide what sort of standards and practices will be used, and what procedures will be appropriate for each group, combined with the bean counters, there will be defacto “death panels.”

Every nation that has socialized medicine rations health care. That’s indisputable fact.

But you, Barack Obama, along with your party had to take the bait didn’t you!

Instead of regrouping, you’ve sent Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the rest of the bunch out to call American citizens a “mob” and “Nazis,” which is hilarious, because Nazis were socialists, kinda like modern day democrats!

You even sent out the union thugs from SEIU to attack unarmed dissenters!

But while you were doing all of this, those two little words from Sarah Palin, were turning the debate on it’s ear! Regular folks were hearing “death panels” and going to see what that was all about. They actually started reading the House bill H.R. 3200, all 1017 pages of it, for themselves.

That really got ‘em fired up!

But Mr Obama, you couldn’t let well enough alone. Since you obviously are allergic to the air in Washington, or think you are still campaigning for office, you went running off to Portsmouth, NH for a totally spontaneous and completely unrehearsed “townhall meeting.”

Concerning the “Death Panels”

Yesterday President Obama responded to my statement that Democratic health care proposals would lead to rationed care; that the sick, the elderly, and the disabled would suffer the most under such rationing; and that under such a system these “unproductive” members of society could face the prospect of government bureaucrats determining whether they deserve health care.

The President made light of these concerns. He said:

“Let me just be specific about some things that I’ve been hearing lately that we just need to dispose of here. The rumor that’s been circulating a lot lately is this idea that somehow the House of Representatives voted for death panels that will basically pull the plug on grandma because we’ve decided that we don’t, it’s too expensive to let her live anymore….It turns out that I guess this arose out of a provision in one of the House bills that allowed Medicare to reimburse people for consultations about end-of-life care, setting up living wills, the availability of hospice, etc. So the intention of the members of Congress was to give people more information so that they could handle issues of end-of-life care when they’re ready on their own terms. It wasn’t forcing anybody to do anything.”

The provision that President Obama refers to is Section 1233 of HR 3200, entitled “Advance Care Planning Consultation.” With all due respect, it’s misleading for the President to describe this section as an entirely voluntary provision that simply increases the information offered to Medicare recipients. The issue is the context in which that information is provided and the coercive effect these consultations will have in that context.

Section 1233 authorizes advanced care planning consultations for senior citizens on Medicare every five years, and more often “if there is a significant change in the health condition of the individual … or upon admission to a skilled nursing facility, a long-term care facility… or a hospice program.” During those consultations, practitioners must explain “the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice,” and the government benefits available to pay for such services.

Now put this in context. These consultations are authorized whenever a Medicare recipient’s health changes significantly or when they enter a nursing home, and they are part of a bill whose stated purpose is “to reduce the growth in health care spending.” Is it any wonder that senior citizens might view such consultations as attempts to convince them to help reduce health care costs by accepting minimal end-of-life care? As Charles Lane notes in the Washington Post, Section 1233 “addresses compassionate goals in disconcerting proximity to fiscal ones…. If it’s all about alleviating suffering, emotional or physical, what’s it doing in a measure to “bend the curve” on health-care costs?”

As Lane also points out:

Though not mandatory, as some on the right have claimed, the consultations envisioned in Section 1233 aren’t quite “purely voluntary,” as Rep. Sander M. Levin (D-Mich.) asserts. To me, “purely voluntary” means “not unless the patient requests one.” Section 1233, however, lets doctors initiate the chat and gives them an incentive — money — to do so. Indeed, that’s an incentive to insist.

Patients may refuse without penalty, but many will bow to white-coated authority. Once they’re in the meeting, the bill does permit “formulation” of a plug-pulling order right then and there. So when Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) denies that Section 1233 would “place senior citizens in situations where they feel pressured to sign end-of-life directives that they would not otherwise sign,” I don’t think he’s being realistic.

Even columnist Eugene Robinson, a self-described “true believer” who “will almost certainly support” “whatever reform package finally emerges”, agrees that “If the government says it has to control health-care costs and then offers to pay doctors to give advice about hospice care, citizens are not delusional to conclude that the goal is to reduce end-of-life spending.”

So are these usually friendly pundits wrong? Is this all just a “rumor” to be “disposed of”, as President Obama says? Not according to Democratic New York State Senator Ruben Diaz, Chairman of the New York State Senate Aging Committee, who writes:

Section 1233 of House Resolution 3200 puts our senior citizens on a slippery slope and may diminish respect for the inherent dignity of each of their lives…. It is egregious to consider that any senior citizen … should be placed in a situation where he or she would feel pressured to save the government money by dying a little sooner than he or she otherwise would, be required to be counseled about the supposed benefits of killing oneself, or be encouraged to sign any end of life directives that they would not otherwise sign.

Of course, it’s not just this one provision that presents a problem. My original comments concerned statements made by Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, a health policy advisor to President Obama and the brother of the President’s chief of staff. Dr. Emanuel has written that some medical services should not be guaranteed to those “who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens….An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.” Dr. Emanuel has also advocated basing medical decisions on a system which “produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated.”

President Obama can try to gloss over the effects of government authorized end-of-life consultations, but the views of one of his top health care advisors are clear enough. It’s all just more evidence that the Democratic legislative proposals will lead to health care rationing, and more evidence that the top-down plans of government bureaucrats will never result in real health care reform.”

Now Mr Obama, Barack, I know being a community organizer must give you a lot of insight or something cool like that, but while you were running around the country campaigning for president on the taxpayers dime, after abandoning your Senate seat, Sarah Palin was actually dealing with a health care crisis in Alaska! Thanks to the federal government, it’s rules, and regulations the poor and elderly had long waits and poor health care.

You see, elderly Medicaid patients were facing those “mythical” death panels daily. Thanks to Palin’s efforts she was able to reduce the Medicaid backlog by 83 % in just two years. An incredible feat.

So Barack Obama, democrats, media, whoever, please keep on quoting Sarah Palin. Keep talking about her. Heck, even make fun of her!

All of you are just pawns on her chess board!

Oh My….Barack Obama Caught Astroturfing!

My oh my. Obama and the democrats have just been hoisted by their own petard!

This is really and truly delicious. If you saw Barack Obama’s totally staged townhall meeting in Portsmouth, NH, you saw something right out of central casting. I mean that was some serious stagecraft.

We’ve all seen the many highly contentious townhall meetings on TV, and you simply don’t see a quiet, gentle, supportive crowd. It just ain’t happening!

What you do see are some angry middle aged and senior citizens who are not taking this lying down! You see people who have never done anything political in their lives who have become activists!

So this precious moment during Obama’s campaign stop just didn’t pass the smell test. The second person “randomly selected” to ask the Dear Leader a question was young Julie Hall. She asks her question at 29m:25s into the video.

You can watch the video here.

Julia read the following question off a piece of paper: “As I was walking in I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming healthcare. How do kids know what is true and why do people want a new system that can help more of us”.

Yeah, that was totally spontaneous.

Of course those “mean things” were on posters being held by angry Americans who weren’t allowed under the big tent to participate. No dissent allowed in Hopey Changey Land!

Of course, this “totally unrehearsed and random comment” gave Obama a perfect lead in to talk about Sarah Palin’s brilliant “death panel” comment that has all of the democrats scrambling, as well as talking about not killing grandma off. And of course, blame it all on the Republicans (who don’t have enough votes to stop anything.)

The fact that there will be, in fact, defacto “death panels” has been discussed everywhere, so we’ll let that be for now.

The important thing here to know is who sweet little Julie Hall is. You would think in this day and age if someone is going to go out and pretend to be just some civilian off the street, they’d either delete their Facebook account, or radically change it up. Even more interesting is the fact that this randomly chosen young Julie, lives in Malden, MA, as does Kathleen.

Kathleen Manning Hall’s campaign contributions list the occupation “Legal Asst, Looney and Grossman LLP” and a home address in Malden MA:

Looks like she donated $636 to Obama in 2008.

But wait, there’s more:

This lists donations to Obama of $230 on 6/15/07, $250 on 9/28/07, $500 on 9/30/07, $300 on 3/2/08

On that link we have the $636 previously mentioned from “Kathleen Manning Hall” but we also have $1355 donated to Obama by “Kathleen Hall, Legal Assistant, Looney & Grossman” at the same address.

Looney and Grossman loves Democrats – their employees donated $12,101 in total to Democrats and $0 to Republicans.

This is as pathetic as it gets.

The democrat are crashing and burning on the health care issue. Scott Rasmussen’s latest poll has support for Obamacare at a new low and circling the drain.

Obama’s townhall was a rambling, incoherent mess. He told many whoppers, like the fact that AARP is supporting his plan. They have come out and said they are not, and did that long before Obama’s NH dog and pony show.

He also brought up the Post Office vs UPS and Fed Ex as a sales pitch for government run health care.

Seriously!

It was just a very bad day.

What makes this delicious is all of the crowing the democrats, who invented political astroturfing, have been doing in regard to the real grass roots activism that millions of Americans are getting involved in.

Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi first called all of this genuine anger astroturf back in April when all of the tea parties were in high gear as seen on the video here.

Madam Pelosi has continued her outright hatred towards the ordinary American people by pronouncing the townhall protesters astroturf too. A few days later Harry Reid and fellow slug Chuck Schumer chimed in a well. You have to wonder if they understand who their bosses are and who signs their paychecks!

And again, this from the group who invented political astroturfing!

Obama’s man, David Axelrod is the king of astroturf!

And Obama himself was a trainer of “thugs for hire” back in his ACORN days! And he had zero problem with calling out the union kneebreakers from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) to beat up some unarmed American patriots who have attended townhalls to protest.

All of this disgraceful talk about honest Americans prompted AstroTurf Chairman Michael Dennis to come out and express his outrage that these sleazy democrats were using his product to attack the American people.

As if to double down on stupidity, a democrat party specialty, Nancy Pelosi dragged her number two man Steny Hoyer, along for a great little op-ed, where she called the patriotic men and women who oppose their insane communist plans “un-American!”

Amazingly, for 8 long years we heard these same loons lecture us that dissent was the truest form of patriotism. That speaking truth to power was cool. Now it’s a crime against the state!

For the most part, the American public has gotten decidedly tired of the democrats. The democrat party lies to the American people when the truth would work better.

It’s pathological!

They have to lie about everything they do because no one would ever elect them as dog catcher if they actually told the truth about what they were up to!

It’s time for all of America to join together. I mean ALL of America.

Barack Obama and the democrat party have declared war on all of us.

They have declared war on the American citizen.

They have flat decided that even though most of the nation wants them to stand down, stop spending our great grandkid’s future, and leave the best health care on earth alone, they are still going to go full steam ahead and build themselves a communist utopia anyhow!

I mean who really cares what the peasants think!

It’s really pretty pathetic though, when they have to bring out a sweet innocent girl like Julie Hall to shill for them!

I’d say that Barack Obama and the democrats should be ashamed of themselves, but that is a foreign concept to this pathetic bunch!

Sarah Palin’s Position on Obamacare Has NOT Changed

True to their usual unscrupulous ways, the Dems and liberal media are trying to spin Sarah Palin’s call for civil discourse as a softening of her position on Obama’s healthcare bill, which she correctly labeled as “evil”. Far from being a change in position, it is a commonsense approach to prevent fear and anger about the Democrats’ push toward government-run healthcare from leading to behaviors that would “give the proponents of nationalized healthcare any reason to criticize us.”

A closer look at her Facebook page shows that she posted a link to this poignant Youtube video the day after she posted her advice to Alaskans on how to conduct themselves at town hall meetings.

One detractor even posted a comment on Palin’s Facebook profile claiming that her healthcare statement had been taken down. Obviously, he didn’t click on the “See more notes” link at the bottom of her Notes page. Either that or he didn’t go to her Wall and click on “Filters,” then select “Just Sarah Palin.” If he had, he would have seen that Sarah posted her healthcare statement not once, but twice, and that both posts are still there. A link to the video of Michele Bachmann’s speech is in between, prefaced with this request:

It is amazing to me to see the amount of hype and spin the libs are willing to use to smear and discredit Sarah Palin and even put words in her mouth. Or to quote Sarah, they simply “make things up”. Never in America has anything this dastardly happened on such a large scale. Even sadder is that so many unsuspecting citizens believe their drivel and are influenced by it.

A Message to Alaskans about the Stimulus Veto and the Health Care Town Halls

Tomorrow begins an important week for Alaskans.

On Monday, state lawmakers will meet to override my veto of stimulus funds. As Governor, I did my utmost to warn our legislators that accepting stimulus funds will further tie Alaska to the federal government and chip away at Alaska’s right to chart its own course. Enforcing the federal building code requirements, which Governor Parnell and future governors will be forced to adopt in order to accept these energy funds, will eventually cost the state more than it receives. There are clear ropes attached, and Alaskans will soon find themselves tied down by codes hich will dictate how we build and renovate homes and businesses. The state has hundreds of millions of dollars already budgeted for conservation, weatherization and renewable energy evelopment. Legislators don’t need to play politics as usual and accept these funds and the ropes that come with them.

Also this week, Alaskans will join Senators Murkowski and Begich in town hall meetings to discuss the current health care legislation. There are many disturbing details in the current bill that Washington is trying to rush through Congress, but we must stick to a discussion of the issues and not get sidetracked by tactics that can be accused of leading to intimidation or harassment. Such tactics diminish our nation’s civil discourse which we need now more than ever because the fine print in this outrageous health care proposal must be understood clearly and not get lost in conscientious voters’ passion to want to make elected officials hear what we are saying. Let’s not give the proponents of nationalized health care any reason to criticize us.
