Its all about the “change”

Posted by Denise Spencer on December 3, 2009

Sarah Palin’s most recent Facebook note smackes Obama and his administration down climate change or “climategate”. All of this on the heels of Al Gore cancelling his speech in Copenhagen and Barbara Boxer calling for an investigation into the hacking that exposed the climate change emails, but not an investigation into the emails themselves.

The president’s decision to attend the international climate conference in Copenhagen needs to be reconsidered in light of the unfolding Climategate scandal. The leaked e-mails involved in Climategate expose the unscientific behavior of leading climate scientists who deliberately destroyed records to block information requests, manipulated data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures, and conspired to silence the critics of man-made global warming. I support Senator James Inhofe’s call for a full investigation into this scandal. Because it involves many of the same personalities and entities behind the Copenhagen conference, Climategate calls into question many of the proposals being pushed there, including anything that would lead to a cap and tax plan.

Policy should be based on sound science, not snake oil. I took a stand against such snake oil science when I sued the federal government over its decision to list the polar bear as an endangered species despite the fact that the polar bear population has increased. I’ve never denied the reality of climate change; in fact, I was the first governor to create a subcabinet position to deal specifically with the issue. I saw the impact of changing weather patterns firsthand while serving as governor of our only Arctic state. But while we recognize the effects of changing water levels, erosion patterns, and glacial ice melt, we cannot primarily blame man’s activities for the earth’s cyclical weather changes. The drastic economic measures being pushed by dogmatic environmentalists won’t change the weather, but will dramatically change our economy for the worse.

Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public’s worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a “sin” against the planet. In his inaugural address, President Obama declared his intention to “restore science to its rightful place.” Boycotting Copenhagen while this scandal is thoroughly investigated would send a strong message that the United States government will not be a party to fraudulent scientific practices. Saying no to Copenhagen and cap and tax are first steps in “restoring science to its rightful place.”

– Sarah Palin

Nothing about this makes any sense. What is the point of science if not to prove or disprove an hypothesis? Global warming has not totally been proven or disproven; however, what this current situation does is prove to those of us paying attention that we can not trust those who consider themselves to be in charge! Now the federal government is looking at closing off part of Cook Inlet in Alaska to protect the bulgula whales. What about the people of Alaska? How are they to import and export goods if their major waterway is hampered in this way? This has to be common ground involved in these decision and we should not blindly follow the “ones” in government who claim to have only our best interest at heart. We must all stand up and voice our concerns. Thank you Sarah Palin for stating the thoughts and feeling of so many of us!

Leave it to the “lame” stream media

Posted by Denise Spencer on December 1, 2009

Sarah Palin’s latest Facebook note say it all:

“It’s really comical at this point! Despite all of the important events happening in the world today – the president’s speech tonight on the strategy in Afghanistan, the Senate debate over health care reform, the disturbing details of the “Climategate” scandal, the continuing challenges facing the world economy – the media is concerned about my travel and lodging arrangements on my book tour?! Does this sound familiar? It should. The media showed the same out-of-proportion obsession with my personal arrangements, clothes, and hairstyles last year instead of focusing on the crucial issues involving the election.

So what is this news “story”? That I fly on an airplane to complete some of the stops on my book tour when it’s impractical or physically impossible to reach the next event on time by bus. Some news outlets are behaving as if my travel was a secret that they didn’t know about – despite the fact that I’ve tweeted about my flights and at least one local newspaper reported on the arrival of my flight into Rochester, NY. What’s even funnier is that these same media outlets think it’s shocking that we stay in hotels. I guess they expected us to pitch a tent alongside the road. We love the great outdoors, but such an arrangement is hardly practical for a book tour. Using common sense, it was determined that traveling by plane between some stops would save time and energy and allow me to go to more events. Economically speaking for HarperCollins, it’s more efficient to travel by charter, and I am very grateful to the publisher for providing my family and me with this incredible opportunity to shake hands with as many Americans as possible on this book tour.

If you’re scratching your head wondering why my flight and hotel logistics warrant news coverage, join the club. They can, of course, report on whatever they like, but in my opinion CBS loses whatever professional integrity it still has when it links in its report to a website devoted to the bizarre conspiracy theory that I’m not the real mother of my son Trig.

I’m truly humbled by the response to my book tour by everyday Americans, and if traveling by plane means that I can meet more of these wonderful people, I’ll travel by plane (or bus or train or canoe or dog sled or whatever it takes). Please enjoy the photos below!

– Sarah Palin”

Why in the world is this news??? It still amazes me that the “lame” stream media refuses to report the details of the health care debate and calls critics “tea baggers” but they will not report news worthy information about Sarah Palin. Her book has gone platinum in just two weeks and another printing has been ordered by Harper Collins. But all they want to focus on is their view of her travel. That it was publicized as a book tour when she is flying! Get real!

The next chapter…

Posted by Denise Spencer on December 1, 2009

After reading Sarah Palin’s memoir, Going Rogue, I can’t help but to think what the future holds for her. With a strong will and a true grounding of personal beliefs, I believe that she will continue to play an active role in American politics. Never before have we seen a public figure effect change by merely speaking her mind unfiltered by others. Pres. Obama may have been the first national candidate to use twitter, Facebook and MySpace as campaign tools; however, it is Sarah Palin who has been able to draw attention to the health care crisis and military support among others. If Sarah Palin, a private citizen, can create this environment of fear among the liberal left then I think she has accomplished greatness. Her outspoken, unfiltered, not politically correct approach has encouraged many other women and step up and become politically active.

I have been thinking a lot lately about our Founding Fathers. I am currently preparing to take a state-wide teaching exam on U.S. History to add a certification to my teaching license. As I prepare for this test, I have been reviewing the principles that our country was founded upon. The six basic principles of the Constitution are: popular sovereignty; limited government; separation of powers; checks and balances; judicial review; and federalism.

Popular sovereignty means that all power is held by the people and that the power to govern is given through the Constitution. It seems to me that the majority of Congress has forgotten this. That WE the people have hired them and that WE the people can and will fired them if they are not and will not represent us. We must continue to stand up and participate in Tea Parties and Town Halls, if we do not use our voices we will never be heard. I have read many articles recently that describe Sarah Palin as “Sarah 2.0”. Sarah is using the social networking technology to her advantage. This is causing a lot of media on her and what she has to say. An average citizen who refuses to “sit down and shut up”.

Sarah Palin, along with Ronald Reagan, knows the true value of limited government. George Washington even warned of expanding government and becoming politically partisan in his farewell address. Government can only do what the people give it the power to do! By speaking up about government-run banks, businesses and health care. As a people, Americans must stand up and stand together to protect our right to limited government. This is the message that Sarah is working so hard to help us get through to Congress and the President.

The separation of powers and anther biggie that our Founding Fathers were very concerned about. They created 3 branches of government that are to check and balances each other out so that no one branche has more power than the others. However, as we have seen since January, more “czars” have been appointed by the current administration then any other in history. This seems to be the administration’s way of getting around the confirmation process in Congress. I have to wonder why we need so many special positions to advise our President and if this positions are truly needed why can’t they be appointed and confirmed? I also have to wonder about the judgement of those people who are choosing these close advisors – Van Jones, Anita Dunn, etc.

Judicial review is provided for in the Constitution to determine the constitutionality of government. This is a good thing; however, we must be cautious and understand the values and morals of those whom are appointed. As more supreme court justices decide to retire or become ill, who will replace them? We must be vocal in lett ing our Congress know who supports true American values and principles. This is too important a job to allow anyone to be appointed and confirmed.

The last principle our Founding Fathers viewed extremely important is federalism. They were fearful of big government and of government take over of the individual states. They were right to be fearful of this. Look at where we are today. With the stimulus funds, states are being told what building codes should be, what roads to build or repair, and what to do with unemployment benefits. Our country was founded on sound principles and right now it looks as though the career politicians in Washington D.C. have lost touch with those principles all in search of obtaining more and more power. This is why Sarah Palin is a force in politics and will continue to be a force. Whether she ever decides to run for public office again remains to be seen. However, she will not fade quietly into the night because concerned Americans need her and she knows that. She is humble enough to know that she doesn’t need a title nor does she need the “elite” political machine. She has the support of average, everyday citizens because she is one of us. She is the real deal and that is why the left is so afraid of her. She isn’t afraid to say “bull crap” to Barbara Walters, she isn’t afraid of the party politics because she has taken them on before and has risen above.

Sarah the Strong

Posted by Denise Spencer on November 25, 2009

(picture courtesy of Amy Sorrell) (picture courtesy of Amy Sorrell) How does one begin to describe the experience of 1800+ people who turned out to see Sarah Palin. My latest adventure began when Billy and I traveled five hours to sleep in the cold (30-40 degrees) to wait in line for a chance to see Sarah and have our copies of Going Rogue signed. We arrived at the Valley View Mall in Roanoke Virginia at 5 pm on Saturday November 21,2009. To our surprise there were already two dozen people in line in front Barnes and Noble, some of whom had chosen their spots as early as 8 am. By 7:00 pm, there where at least 150 people with lawn chairs, sleeping bags, heavy coats and big smiles. To me all of this seems more like a line for concert tickets then a book signing! As the night went on, Billy and I distributed fliers for 2012 Draft Sarah Committee and talked to the many others who were dedicated enough to wait it out. I also spent the time twittering my experience and talking and texting with friends back in Wasilla. At 9:44 pm I tweeted: “@SarahPalinUSA 200+ r waiting 4 u n Roanoke. Been passing out 2012 draft sarah info since 5:30 pm.” 9:44 PM Nov 21st Sarah was also tweeting about all of the placed she was visiting, here is one of her tweets: SarahPalinUSA: “ROANOKE – here we come!Thx to all of you camping out all nite – stay warm!People like u are our inspiration. It’ll be a blast in the morning” (11/21/2009 9:40:29 PM) At 11:00 pm we all got a huge surprise! Billy and I were standing in the parking lot talking, I happened to look up and saw Sarah’ bus. We watched it drove into the parking lot. The bus pulled up to the side walk and out came Sarah with Trig, Piper and her mom and dad. She had come to see us! She told us that she felt guilty because she was going to be sleeping in a warm hotel room and that WE were the real patriots for sleep outside waiting for her. She stayed for only a brief moment but in that moments she changes the crowd. We were already all excited but now people were exchanging email addresses and phone numbers so that they could share pictures and keep in touch with their “neighbors” from the mall. Why did they do this? Sarah Palin showed us that she is listening, she is paying attention to us. In those few minutes during her surprise visit she changed lives. Surprise! (picture courtesy of Amy Sorrell)(picture courtesy of Amy Sorrell) Later on that night Sarah tweeted again: SarahPalinUSA: “Landed in VA/swung by overnight campers to say “thx & we’ll see u again tmorrw!” Reminiscent of Alaskan camping trips-slash-tailgate parties” (11/22/2009 12:44:07 AM) With her short but unexpected visit, Sarah Palin shows this crowd of average citizens that we do mean something, that we are important and we should be taken seriously. This is why people on the far left are so afraid of she, we connect with her. She is a reachable person. She is not hiding behind a façade like many of our elected officials. Sarah Palin is a polarizing figure not because of a title she holds but because of who she is and what she stands for. I have met Sarah before and it was very interesting for me to watch others in the crowd who had not had that privilege. I saw people ranging in age from 2-92 waiting for the experience to meet Sarah. I made new friends and talked with people from all walks of life. Believe or not, but I even met and became friends with a reporter! A conservative reporter at that! I even talked Cheryl into wearing for “Go girl” Sarah Palin button along with her press badge. (That was a hoot!) At 5:30 am on Sunday, November 22, 2009, the staff of Barnes and Noble as well as the advanced team staff began to list the crowd up in order to distribute wristbands and tickets for the event. The staff did an awesome job because this was no easy task, it was much like trying to herd cats! Once we received our wristbands and tickets, we lined up once again to await Sarah’s arrival. Billy and I stood in line for what seemed like forever. At 9:55am Billy and I will 98 of our “friends” entered B&N. At 10:00 am, the bus delivered Sarah Palin and her family to the front door. She shook a few hands and the signing began. As I waited in line inside the door I got to meet Aunt Katie. That is Sarah’s Aunt Katie. She walked down the line saying “Thank you for supporting my niece.” She is just as nice and humble as the rest of the Palin/Heath clan. After a short wait I was standing in front of Sarah wearing my Valley Republican Women’s Club shirt, she looked up at me and said “where did you get that shirt?” I smiled and shook her hand and told her that I was in Wasilla last summer to which her smile got bigger. That was my two seconds! But that wasn’t why I went. It wasn’t about talking to Sarah. It was about the experience, the adventure. I was about being in the company of people with similar interests, morals, and convictions. After I gathered my two signed copies of Going Rogue, I walked over to talk to Vets4Sarah.net and his wife. They are a very nice couple who believe in limited government and the power of the people. We talked about our trips to Alaska over the summer and what we could do to continue to draw attention to the 2012 Draft Sarah Committee. I think that I handed out around 300 flyers and business cards. I walked out of B&N with Cheryl and we met up with Billy in the parking lot. The experience was over or so we thought. We walked over to the book tour bus to take a few more pictures and as we rounded the back of the bus saw Sally and Chuck Heath signing books for a small group of supporters. I walked over to them and immediately they saw my shirt. Chuck smiled and pointed at it and I reminded him about our conversation about science in Wasilla. Sally and I hugged and talked about my visit last July and about getting together when I visit Wasilla again in July 2010. This is another nice surprise. We talked for about 5 minutes. Billy, Cheryl and I took some pictures of the bus and decided to go across that street to I HOP for breakfast. Me with Sally and Chuck Heath< I was proud to represent the VRWC at this event! (Me with Sally & Chuck Heath) The excitement of the day was starting to come down a little once we got in the car. But the surprises were not over yet. As we waited for a table at I HOP, A young woman came over to me and starting asking about my VRWC shirt. Come to find out, this young woman is from Wasilla! She is attending college in Virginia and drove to Roanoke with the hope of seeing Bristol. She and Bristol are good friends. We all had a nice talk about life in Wasilla for a teenager and the fact that Sarah is just Sarah! It was so very refreshing to talk to this young woman and to have her confirm everything that we felt about Sarah Palin. Sarah is just Sarah. This is the phrase that the left should fear. Sarah Palin is not a member of an elite circle, not from a wealth family, and yes…she has had to work her way up from the bottom and she did it all on her own. Sarah Palin has strong character, she has ideas, and she has support… three things that many, if not all, on the left are lacking. Sarah Palin is a private citizen who has done more to shape the topics currently facing the nation then the elected “elite” have. Go Sarah Go! You have our support and we have your back!
