Gov. Palin: A bridge over troubled waters

Kicking off Memorial Day weekend, here’s to any and all looking for a bridge over troubled waters. Every person on earth encounters those waters. To those, especially, fighting hard for our country’s good future and perhaps feeling your efforts are futile, cling to these verses on anxiety, disappointment, and unclear vision:

Billy Graham once said, “The Bible is not an option; it’s a necessity.” This is especially true in times of despair that can lead to anxiety and fear. These are a few of many Bible verses to refer to for peace and comfort.

“We can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”
—Hebrews 13:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
—Philippians 4:6-7

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
—Psalm 34:4

“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
—Psalm 42:5

“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
—Matthew 6:34

“We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”
—2 Corinthians 4:8-9

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
—Psalm 23:1-6

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
—1 Peter 5:5-7

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
—Revelation 21:4

Have a safe weekend, and thank you, Mr. Decker, for the compilation!

Here’s a worthy cause to contribute to that costs nothing but your energy! This effort encourages runners and walkers to wear blue and dedicate the miles you put in on Memorial Day to America’s finest who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. The Wear Blue: Run to Remember Event was started by the widow of a fallen soldier as a way to honor her husband and all our fallen heroes, our active duty military, and their families. God bless them for their sacrifices! Please visit the event’s website to see how you can be a part:

One Response to “Gov. Palin: A bridge over troubled waters”

  1. This face of this brave young boy, who obviously lost his father (or mother) on the battlefield, says it all as to what ‘remembering our fallen troops’ really means. Many of us will never experience what this kid is feeling and what he has to bear for the rest of his life. God bless him and all others that have suffered such a loss.
