Unto Us a Child Is Born …

6 For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Although the actual date of Jesus’s birth has been disputed among biblical scholars, Christmas Day on December 25 is the date that most Christians have celebrated the birth of Christ since at least the 4th century. Regardless of the date of the actual event, the important thing is that we recognize at this time of year its significance.
The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend[a] it.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”
16 And[e] of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son,[f] who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
Across the nation, the Christmas season has become more secularized, and the public display of expressions of the true meaning of the Christmas celebration are becoming increasingly suppressed. Governor Palin is leading a campaign to confront the war on Christmas, which she says is just the tip of the spear of what Christians are facing.
Yesterday, Governor Palin met with Shannon Bream and Tucker Carlson at her home in Alaska for a segment of the FOX & Friends Christmas Special. She discussed her own Christmas experiences and her best-selling new book, ‘Good Tidings and Great Joy’. One comment she made that I found noteworthy was that it is dangerous for a civilization to push God out of the public square and still expect His blessings.

We at SPIB want to wish all of our readers and friends a very happy and blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas to all of you and your families!
