Once we read Todd Starnes’ coverage of one school district’s move to add a mathematical equation to a school choirs choice of songs, I knew we had to visit the community of Wausau, WI, to encourage the good citizens there to keep up the good fight! We’ll be there this Thursday promoting “Good Tidings and Great Joy” in which we discuss steps citizens can take, just like the ones those in Wausau are doing, to protect our constitutional right guaranteeing freedom of faith. Hope to see you there. For more on the issue in Wausau, see this article:

From an article by Theresa Clift at the Wassau Daily Herald:

Sarah Palin coming to Rib Mountain

Former Alaska governor’s book tour trip follows religious music controversy

RIB MOUNTAIN — Former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be in the Wausau area next week to promote her new Christmas book, exactly one month after she took to Facebook to weigh in on the Wausau School District’s religious music controversy.

Palin will be at Walmart, 4300 Rib Mountain Drive, from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 to sign copies of “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.”

Rib Mountain will be Palin’s fourth stop on her national book tour, she announced Wednesday on her Facebook page, and her first visit to the Wausau area.

In the book, Palin calls for people to publicly celebrate Jesus Christ during Christmas and say “Merry Christmas” to one another.

In October, Wausau School District administrators placed new limits on religious music performances by school groups, including an elite choral group at Wausau West High School called the Master Singers. Many in the community said the school district’s religious-music restrictions were akin to an attack on Christianity.

Last month, Palin posted the following to her Facebook page: “Thank you to all the Wausau, Wisconsin, residents who showed up to protest a wrongheaded school directive against Christmas carols. Wausau showed that there is power in unity as we battle against Scrooges who want Christ out of Christmas. My new book tackles issues like this one. It explains the steps we can take to combat the Scrooges so that we may forever protect the heart of Christmas from those who seek to diminish its true meaning.”

More than 41,600 people have “liked” that post since Oct. 14.

This will be the first time Walmart in Rib Mountain has hosted an event such as this, said J.P. Doyle, store manager.

“We handle big events regularly, like Black Friday and new releases for games,” Doyle said. “We’ve got a staff that’s fairly comfortable with handling that kind of excitement.”

The store will have extra workers on hand that day to help and ensure customers still will be able to shop, Doyle said.

The visit was arranged by Walmart corporate offices, Doyle said. Employees at the store first learned of the details of the visit Wednesday morning when Palin released her tour schedule.

To meet Palin and get her signature, people will be required to buy the book, which costs between $15 and $22.

Joe Wachtel, a former chairman of the Republican Party of Marathon County, said he was happy to hear of Palin’s visit and will try to attend.

“I think highly of her. I think it’s great for this area to get exposure to her,” Wachtel said. “It’s fine to get some diversity in our public discourse.”

Sandy Ermeling, former co-chairwoman of the local John McCain presidential campaign and mother of former Master Singers members, said she assumed Palin was coming because of the music controversy.

“If that’s what she’s coming to stress, the importance of supporting Christmas, I think that’s fine,” Ermeling said.
