Happy Independence Day to all of you patriotic Americans out there! Today is the day we reflect upon and celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the birth of a new nation. There would be a long struggle between the first shots at Lexington Green in 1975 and the departure of the last British troops from New York City in 1783 . But victory was finally achieved, and the official end of the American Revolutionary War came with the Treaty of Paris.
This year’s Independence Day celebration will be our 237th, or 238th, if you count the celebration that must have erupted after the Founding Fathers signed America’s birth certificate. Although Independence Day was not declared an official holiday by Congress until 1941, there have been yearly celebrations ever since the signing of the Declaration.
As we celebrate Independence Day this year, let us remember the struggles and sacrifice that made and have kept this nation free. And let us not forget the values of our forebears that helped this nation become the greatest nation on Earth. We must do our part in the days and years ahead to keep our nation free and strong.
There is a lot of work ahead as we right some of the wrongs generated by the radical left machine, but this can be done if patriotic Americans pray and work together. We need to hold our elected representatives’ accountable so that their votes reflect the will of the people. And we need to exercise our right to vote in the upcoming elections. Staying home is a vote for the other side. The 2014 elections can make or break our Republic, so please stay informed and alert and VOTE!
Have a happy and blessed Independence Day! May our flag ever wave over a free and virtuous nation! And may God bless America with His protection and His grace!
