SarahPAC poised for action with nearly $1.2 million in the bank

Governor Palin’s PAC ended the year with a reserve of almost $1.2 million in the bank and no debt.   That and the fact that fund raising continued toward the end of the year lends credence to Governor Palin’s  promise to continue the battle for common-sense conservatism.

Kenneth Vogel at Politico writes:

With her Fox News days behind her, Sarah Palin is signaling she intends to become more involved in Republican primaries, and a Monday filing shows she has the cash to back it up.

Palin’s leadership political action committee, Sarah PAC, finished the year with $1.2 million in the bank, according to a report to the Federal Election Commission covering roughly the final month of the year.

Perhaps as significant as the cash on hand, Palin’s PAC has continued spending to build her fundraising list, which sources say contains about 100,000 addresses. The PAC paid $28,000 in December for fundraising related expenses including direct mail, online fundraising and thank you notes to donors, the report shows.

[…]

And her endorsements — along with accompanying Sarah PAC donations — were welcomed by several tea party candidates who defeated more establishment candidates in GOP primaries, earning her allies in the GOP freshman class and signaling that she can still be a force in the conservative base.

She was among the early backers of newly elected Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Deb Fisher (R-Neb.) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) in their contested primaries, giving maximum $5,000 donations in their primaries, and then again in their general election campaigns.

Cruz returned the favor after the election, publicly attesting to her impact in a grateful letter to her email list this month.

“The governor’s vision and the support of patriots like you helped transform my long-shot candidacy into victory on election night,” he wrote. “While federal law prohibited any coordination between SarahPAC and my campaign, none of this success would have been possible without the outpouring of financial support, hard work, and word of mouth from conservative fighters like you. The governor’s support and your constant encouragement played a critical part in our triumph.”

After her breakup with Fox News, Palin told Breitbart News that she intended to broaden her outreach and become more involved in backing anti-establishment candidates.

“Focus on the 2014 election is also imperative,” she said, suggesting the Fox split would allow her to “free up opportunities” to spread her message. “It’s going to be like 2010, but this time around we need to shake up the GOP machine that tries to orchestrate away too much of the will of constitutional conservatives who don’t give a hoot how they do it in DC.”

And, in a late November message to the Sarah PAC list, Crawford signaled an even more anti-establishment path, writing that the “power brokers in Washington will still look for the easy path with candidates – those they know and that are habitual candidates.” Sarah PAC “will never stop identifying and supporting local commonsense conservatives with strong messages who understand the need to put people over politics, principals over promises, and ideals over self-interests.”

Dave Levinthal at the Center for Public Integrity also writes:

Few PACs, be they traditional or super in nature, maintain a cash balance in the seven-figure range, meaning Sarah PAC remains a force in politics…

During calendar year 2012, Sarah PAC took in nearly $2.6 million in contributions, its reporting shows.

Media Tries to Set Narrative on Governor Palin’s Leaving FOX: Mark Levin Rebukes Joe Scarborough

Posted by Dr. Fay on January 29, 2013

Just as HBO tried to rewrite history with its fictional ‘Game Change’ movie, the media and leftist bloggers are trying to set the narrative this week on Governor Palin’s leaving FOX News.   They are claiming that FOX News “dumped”  Sarah Palin, that her influence has waned, that she is “irrelevant,” and on and on,  accompanied by their usual lies and vitriol about Governor Palin.

A prime example is Joe Scarborough’s attack on Governor Palin on Morning Joe on Monday.  Among other things, he stated that “Sarah Palin represented a time and place in American politics and not 2008 so much as 2010. And that time is passing us very quickly. Party leaders are finally understanding that.”

Well, Mark Levin said “enough is enough,” and lit into Joe Scarborough in the video above.  He called Joe Scarborough an empty suit, a buffoon, and a half wit for trashing Governor Palin and said Scarborough couldn’t hold a candle to Palin.

Levin called Scarborough’s attack on Palin cowardice and cheap and trying to play to the backseats, selling out to his media masters at MSN (which Levin described as MSLD).  He said that people think Scarborough is a joke.  When Governor Palin goes somewhere, people know about it, and thousands show up.  Levin said more people show up for Governor Palin’s events than watch Scarboroguh.

Levin said Scarborough tried and failed at radio and then became a dufous backbencher morning host on the most repugnant, discredited network in America, from where he shoots spitballs at conservatives, statesmen, and leaders.  In contrast, candidates from all over the country, like Ted Cruz,  sought Governor Palin’s endorsement.  “Enough said,”  Levin finished.

Whew!  Levin really let him have it.  Although Levin singled Scarborough out for rebuke, Scarborough’s attack is just a sample of what has been spewing from the mainstream media and leftist blogs this week.  Very few in the mainstream media have reported about Governor Palin’s exit from FOX News without some negative spin.   And the leftist bloggers have added numerous lies and distortions of the truth, attacking Governor Palin in any way that comes to their evil minds, so obsessed with hatred for one to whom they too cannot hold a candle.

The fact is that FOX News made Governor Palin an offer, and she turned it down.  The scoop was given to Scott Conroy at Real Clear Politics by a source close to the Governor and reported here.  Breitbart News was next to give an objective report,  as Tony Lee writes here.  Stephen Bannon was given a telephone interview with Governor Palin herself, on which he reports here.  The Wall Street Journal gave one of the few objective reports in the mainstream media that I have seen, and it can be found here.

Governor Palin has decided to take her common-sense conservative message to a broader audience rather than “preach to the choir” that regularly watches FOX News.  The left fears that, therefore they are trying to head her off at the gap.  But I love what Governor Palin had to say:

I was raised to never retreat and to pick battles wisely, and all in due season. When it comes to defending our republic, we haven’t begun to fight! But we delight in those who underestimate us.

“We delight in those who underestimate us.”  Like Joe Scarborough.
