Palin infiltrates NBC’s Today Show

Posted by loricalabrese on April 3, 2012

Monday, NBC touted that we’d see another side of Sarah Palin when she co-hosted the Today show Tuesday morning and many tuned in to see if that was true.

Immediately, Palin used self-deprecating humor to kick-off the show as she perused through  a stack of newspapers, hinting that she was ‘doing her homework,’ a reference to her interview with Katie Couric and a response to a jab by Matt Lauer in a telephone interview on Monday.

Only in the 7 a.m. hour did Palin dive into politics as Lauer interviewed her about the 2012 race and the crop of Republican candidates. The interview made apparent the clear divide between Lauer and Palin as he attempted to throw Palin off her game. However, Palin stood her ground and discussed the necessary experience of a vice president, a brokered convention, and the current crop of candidates. Palin refused to give any endorsements, but said, “Anybody but Obama.” Lauer persisted, stressing that conditions have improved under Obama, but Palin quickly replied, “They aren’t getting better fast enough.”

As the 8 a.m. hour hit, things got a little less tense as viewers were exposed to the non-political side of Sarah Palin.

“I’m very excited to be here with all you New Yorkers and all you tourists,” Palin said to the crowd outside Rockefeller Center as she stood alongside Lauer, Ann Curry and Al Roker. She participated in a party-planning segment with Tori Spelling, and even threw to Al Roker later for the weather.

Palin also participated in the “Today’s Professionals” segment alongside Star Jones, Donny Deutsch and Dr. Nancy Snyderman. They tackled the issue of Ashton Kutcher playing Steve Jobs in an upcoming movie and Palin jokingly asked, “Do any of you here have experience with people being paid a lot of money to pretend like they’re you?,” hinting at the movie Game Changewhere Palin was portrayed by actress Julianne Moore.“I didn’t see the movie,” the former Alaska governor said giving a thumbs down, “and I wouldn’t waste my time seeing the movie.”

Overall, Palin did an amazing job, but did she reveal a side we’re unfamiliar with? Most Palin supporters would answer no as they’ve seen the former Governor just as poised, confident and strong in similar situations. But perhaps the different side of Palin we did see was a side that wasn’t running for election or taking on Obama, but instead a side that could fare well for a future hosting job in television– if it’s something on Palin’s radar.

Palin: Autism Awareness Day

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on April 3, 2012

Posted to Sarah Palin’s Facebook page 4/2/12:

Headed to 30 Rock to be part of NBC’s “Today” crew tomorrow morning at 7am ET. More importantly, today is Autism Awareness Day. It was humbling to join Walk Now For Autism Speaks for a walk in NY in 2009 with my nephew Karcher and sister Heather. Karcher is an accomplished student at an Anchorage high school, he works with his dad at their family-owned Bruce’s Muldoon Chevron station, and he’s a favorite of the whole Heath/Palin crew! We love Karcher!
