POLL: WHAT DATE IN SEPTEMBER WILL PALIN DECLARE?
Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on September 7, 2011
Sarah Palin has indicated that, with the deadline for registering as a candidate approaching, she will decide, one way or the other if she will run for president by the end of September.
In her “thank you” message to the people of New Hampshire for their warmth and courtesy Palin said “we will see you again soon”. It would seem possible that when she does see them again soon it will be as a candidate or she will declare in New Hampshire.
There are a number of auspicious days in September e.g. Constitution Day, which might be suitable and there are days that if she declares she could participate in a debate with other candidates. She also said she would declare on the local Bob & Mark radio show-in which case a Friday might be auspicious for weekend media coverage.
Here’s what top pundit Stacy McCain thinks:
Stacy McCain, at The Other McCain:
“Palin has specified September as her deadline for making a decision, and there are three debates in September — Wednesday at the Reagan Library in California, Sept. 12 in Tampa and Sept. 22 in Orlando. If Perry underperforms in those debates, Palin may see the front-runner’s weakness as an invitation to enter the race.”
See if you can pick the date, and how many others get it right. The only prize will be self satisfaction at being a seer and, if you leave your reason for your choice in the comments section I will re-publish this with the winners names for you to bask in your punditry! Hello Joy,
Let’s look at Canada. Canada has 4 major political parties, three of them liberal and one conservative. Stephen Harper, the greatest national leader in the world today, is the Conservative Canadian Prime Minister, and has a “majority” government even with under 50% voting for him. This is because the 3 liberal parties split the liberal vote and the intelligent and caring segment of the society, the Conservatives, win a majority of the ridings with a pluralities in most.
Now suppose Sarah runs as the NEW Tea Party candidate, and the Tea Party has been preparing for this possibility to be able to get her on the ballots, and takes one of the staunchest and most conservative republicans, say Jim DeMint as her running mate. The Tea Party would emerge as the anti-Obama party with the Democrats on the left, and the Republicans unsuccessfully to position themselves as the centrist party of the people. I think the Tea Party would end up with a plurality of the electoral college and eventually the Republicans would have to cave and give them the win. There would be a new power in town, and we have seen this happen in recent history.
Sharon broke from the conservative Likud party in Israel to form the Kadima party which for a while became the predominant party in the country. If they hadn’t veered left, they would have kept that mantle. Sarah Palin doesn’t veer left.
All this is not to say that Sarah would go the 3rd party route, and indeed a year ago that wouldn’t have been a consideration, but with the way the candidates are shaping up all that is changing. Bachmann is the only one near the top that has the necessary conservative credentials, and it does not appear she has must chance. Sarah can choose to take on Perry and Romney directly, go the 3rd party route, or sit this one out. The country cannot afford Palin sitting this out…and she knows it.

Earl, your posting just about knocked me off my chair!! I hadn’t heard that narrative before (OK, “Tea Party/New Party” rumblings in the past) – and although I don’t think that will happen this election cycle (there isn’t really a strong candidate in the GOP at present, and Palin could still run under this banner!), actually, it’s not all that far-fetched – and talk about a “game-changer!!” OMG. New Life on the political landscape is just ONE of the possible new realities!! OTOH, she might also accomplish this new profile/persona by working within the GOP and, in effect, forcing their hand over time. “Accept our platform, concept and worldview,” say the Tea Partiers, “and we’ll stay within the confines of the GOP!!” I.e., an offer we hope they couldn’t refuse!

In 1854 the Republican Party was born due to wide discontent with the other parties, leading to the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, of whom Sarah often refers.
It seems the party discontent today is equal to greater to what it was in 1860. It might be, it seems to me, that Sarah really is trying to make a decision, NOT whether to run, but whether to run as a Republican or to turn the Tea Party into a genuine party of new direction, and run under the banner of the Tea Party.
If she did this, she would be a Ross Perot on steroids, and would definitely have the ability to win, drawing dissatisfied voters for all sectors, and if she won, one might expect a great many Republicans and non-insane Democrats, currently in Congress, to defect.
Food for thought today, but the world could be turned upside down in an instant, and Sarah is no question the Turner-In-Chief if she chooses to be.
