Palin In Virtual Tie At Top Of GOP Candidates Whilst Bachmann Drops 12 Points To 6th Place

Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on August 12, 2011

The above is the latest CNN poll of potential and actual GOP candidates and it has Michele Bachmann at 7% whilst Sarah Palin, who has of course not declared is at 12%. Palin is within the MOE with Perry, the media’s candidate du jour, and within striking distance of Romney who at 17% is hardly the breakaway frontrunner.

Perry is expected to declare this weekend which leaves Palin as the last in/best in candidate, should she so choose to be, when and if she declares on September third in Iowa. The fact that she has resumed her “patriotic bus tour” in Iowa speaks volumes about her intentions I believe, but we shall see.

If she does declare, and September third is the three year anniversary of her introduction speech at the 2008 convention, which made her a household name, and it would be hard to imagine a better day to launch her 2012 campaign.

In the meantime ‘the great inscrutable one” has, chosen to see the candidates of the day/week/month come in with a blaze of publicity, and either self-destruct, or return to near anonymity as the case may be. Michele Bachmann being the classic example. Here is her poll
result at the height of the media beat up for her.

Rasmussen reports:  6/14-6/14  Romney 33%  Palin- (not canvassed)  Bachman 19%

Palin has held steady during this period, whereas Bachman has declined a substantial 12 points. No doubt some of her (Bachman’s) support has bled to Perry, and when/if Palin declares it could be expected that both Perry, after the media has fun with his record and Bachman will bleed support to Palin at which point she will overtake Romney, especially as Santorum and Cain drop out, or run neck and neck with him right up to the convention.

The one major difference between Palin and the othercandidates is that the left media is exhausted. They have run out of negative things to say about her, and in reality the
Alaskan emails debacle was their total nadir, from which they will never recover.

Even the “progressive hate machine blogs have run out of puff and all the can do is endlessly parrot “she’s a quitter’ for lack of any other “dirt’ they can dig up on her.

The reality is she will have an unimpeded campaign and can totally concentrate on the issues with out having to defend her record, or herself, as everything about her has been canvassed.

My sense is that if/when she enters the race, there’ll be countless opportunities to respond to that question – or even to bring it up if she feels it’s relevant at any given point in time. And, of course, the Undefeated does a bang-up job of explaining, in detail, what led up to her extremely painful & difficult decision (and I also believe that she’ll have countless opportunities to express the sadness that impelled her to make that decision).

BTW, the movie will have a MUCH wider audience after September 1st with the TV roll-out as well as the DVD sales. And there may well come a time when that narrative is MUCH wider known and, finally, actually acknowledged by the biased LSM (plesae, God!).

The one issue that Palin will have to address is why she quit her governorship. Her supporters know full well that the onslaught of frivolous lawsuits tied up her administration and threatened to bankrupt her family. They used her own ethics laws to hamstring her in an attempt to destroy her national credibility as a candidate and as a threat to the One who is destroying the United States economy. But the voters don’t know that. Her challenge will be to find a way to turn that negative into a positive. She could present it as a choice between being bogged down in Alaska drowning in debt verses being on the national stage fighting Obama and his terrible policies.

    • The Undefeated does an excellent job of explaining why Sarah Palin resigned from her governorship when she did. She told us in her resignation speech, but the lamestream media always looks for other answers they can spin.

I absolutely LOVE the Rasmussen analysis – wow! spot on!! He “makes it official,” as it were, by reminding one & all that the email debacle was – if not the LSM’s undoing – at least “its nadir!” How true!! She has now been thoroughly vetted, canvassed and made virtually tsflon!! Of course, she had to go thru Hell and back – and probably still has the scars to show for it – but, IMHO (and I’m sure she sees it this way as well), her eye has always been on “the prize;” and, like that old adage, “If it’s not worth fighting for, it’s almost not worth having!”

BTW, my guesstimate re her possible announcement goes like this: Monday, Aug. 29, is also the 3rd anniversary of her debut on the national stage, when McCain introduced her in Ohio. So, she just might make good on her long-time promise to her radio pals in Wasilla/Anchorage and call in that morning and announce it on their local radio show! Then, the rest of the week will be her “Announcement Week” (with all the media hoopla that will entail); so that when Sat. Sept. 3rd rolls around, her big keynote speech at that Tea Party event, will be HUGE – and the media buildup will suck the oxygen totally out of the air – at least for that week – insofar as the rest of the candidates are concerned. But, of course, my crystal ball COULD be wrong…
