Nothing Compares: An Inspiring Day At The Iowa State Fair

Posted by Ron Devito on August 12, 2011

It was wonderful to be back in Iowa today to visit the historic Iowa State Fair! Thank you for the invitation and tremendous hospitality, Iowa friends. We had the opportunity to meet more great Americans from the heartland and talk about the issues confronting our country today and the sort of leadership we need to move forward. Iowans have big hearts and a great deal of common sense, which makes visiting here all the more inspiring and insightful. Like the majority of Americans across the nation, the good folks here know that our country is in need of a restoration of the free market and constitutional principles that have made us strong and free and will make us that again as we get our country back on the right track.

The work ethic shown here by these farm families is so encouraging. The kids involved in healthy activities like 4-H and FFA are proud, strong young Americans who’ll grow up to help feed the country and run the nation’s economic engine – our small businesses. Keep up the great work, farmers!

What an inspiring day with great Americans. Oh, and the butter cow really is amazing… as is the fried butter-on-a-stick, the fried twinkie, the pork chops, etc.!

Palin’s 7 Minute CNN Interview Shows A Leader At Top Of Her Form: Savvy, Intelligent, Knowledgeable

Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on August 12, 2011

This wide ranging non-Fox interview blows away the left’s theme that Palin “only talks to Fox”-not only  that but she comes across as a deep thinker, highly aware of people and issues and, in stark contrast to president Obama, as a leader.

UPDATE:  This comment by “idesign” at Hot Air:

Just watched the Palin interview on CNN. It was great! Don Lemon said that she answered every question, with no talking points and said he was very impressed with Palin. Then Don Lemon tried to interview Bachman and her aids pushed him away and wouldn’t let him ask any questions. According to him the pushed him so hard that he slammed his into a tent poll.

Sarah. Palin: ‘No on premature endorsements’ (Updated)

Posted by joshpainter on August 12, 2011

– by Josh Painter
Reporter Jennifer Jacobs of the Des Moines Register has the first post up on Gov. Palin at the Iowa State Fair:

Will tea party rock star Sarah Palin endorse anyone while she’s in Iowa – maybe Texas Gov. Rick Perry?

A beaming Sarah Palin, surrounded by a pack of camera-armed fairgoers, said no.

“Oh, you know the process hasn’t even played itself out yet, so no on premature endorsements,” Palin told The Des Moines Register as she eyed livestock in the Cattle Barn.

“And I haven’t even decided yet if I’m going to jump in or not yet.”

But she added later that Perry is “a great guy.”

Sarah Palin arrived at the Iowa State Fair at about 10:45 a.m., just as presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty was finishing up with his pork-chop-flipping photo opp.

Apparently for security reasons, the governor made a stealth entrance through a back-door gate used to bring in livestock, and the first place where she visited with Iowans at the fair was the Cattle Barn.

Update: Another post by Jennifer Jacobs:

Republican Sarah Palin said today that if she runs for president, she will campaign on her record as a mayor and governor in Alaska.

“Just speaking from the heart, where I think America needs to head and how I think we can turn the economy around and here’s what I’ve done in the past to show you truly a foundation of where my beliefs come from, of what works – in a small town, in a state, in a big industry like oil and gas. What is it that can be done to turn things around. I’ll express that,” Palin told reporters who huddled around her at the Iowa State Fair.

Palin will be in Iowa just for one day, she said. “I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes so I won’t be in the state tomorrow,” she said.

When the Iowa Straw Poll begins tomorrow, “we’ll already be on the bus, heading out of here.”

But next month “has to be kind of a drop-dead timeline” for deciding whether or not she will make a bid for the White House herself, she said.

Even Palin’s Bus is a Rock Star-WQAD TV Has The Report

Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on August 12, 2011

Vodpod videos no longer available.

WQAD TV   in Moline IL  has the story :

It seems as though most people love or love-to-hate Sarah Palin, but today Quad Citians showed bipartisan support for something connected to the former Alaska Governor.

This morning, workers at the Ben Franklin in Moline noticed her tour bus parked behind the store.

Slowly, word started spreading which drew a crowd of gawkers. Some told us they supported the former Vice Presidential candidate while others said they could not, on television, tell us what they thought of her.

Everyone we spoke with was having fun, kidding with each other around the Constitution-clad chariot parked near the Rock River.

We learned that her bus driver was staying at a nearby hotel but the former governor was not around.

Palin In Virtual Tie At Top Of GOP Candidates Whilst Bachmann Drops 12 Points To 6th Place

Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on August 12, 2011

The above is the latest CNN poll of potential and actual GOP candidates and it has Michele Bachmann at 7% whilst Sarah Palin, who has of course not declared is at 12%. Palin is within the MOE with Perry, the media’s candidate du jour, and within striking distance of Romney who at 17% is hardly the breakaway frontrunner.

Perry is expected to declare this weekend which leaves Palin as the last in/best in candidate, should she so choose to be, when and if she declares on September third in Iowa. The fact that she has resumed her “patriotic bus tour” in Iowa speaks volumes about her intentions I believe, but we shall see.

If she does declare, and September third is the three year anniversary of her introduction speech at the 2008 convention, which made her a household name, and it would be hard to imagine a better day to launch her 2012 campaign.

In the meantime ‘the great inscrutable one” has, chosen to see the candidates of the day/week/month come in with a blaze of publicity, and either self-destruct, or return to near anonymity as the case may be. Michele Bachmann being the classic example. Here is her poll
result at the height of the media beat up for her.

Rasmussen reports:  6/14-6/14  Romney 33%  Palin- (not canvassed)  Bachman 19%

Palin has held steady during this period, whereas Bachman has declined a substantial 12 points. No doubt some of her (Bachman’s) support has bled to Perry, and when/if Palin declares it could be expected that both Perry, after the media has fun with his record and Bachman will bleed support to Palin at which point she will overtake Romney, especially as Santorum and Cain drop out, or run neck and neck with him right up to the convention.

The one major difference between Palin and the othercandidates is that the left media is exhausted. They have run out of negative things to say about her, and in reality the
Alaskan emails debacle was their total nadir, from which they will never recover.

Even the “progressive hate machine blogs have run out of puff and all the can do is endlessly parrot “she’s a quitter’ for lack of any other “dirt’ they can dig up on her.

The reality is she will have an unimpeded campaign and can totally concentrate on the issues with out having to defend her record, or herself, as everything about her has been canvassed.
