Despite The Corrupt Media’s Best Efforts, “The Undefeated” Has A Phenomenal Opening Weekend

Posted by Gary P Jackson on July 20, 2011

Organize4Palin members in Grapevine, Texas

By Gary P Jackson

So I woke up on Friday morning, the national opening for Stephen Bannon’s hit documentary, The Undefeated, and what do I see? Some cat named Conor Friedersdorf [no wonder he’s bitter] The Atlantic’s pretend “conservative“, phonied up a story about being at the opening of the movie, and no one was there.

The problem with this narrative is this “opening” was at midnight, Thursday night, not advertised, and the movie officially opened on Friday. Yes, I know midnight is technically Friday, but you get where I’m coming from. This bitter little fellow wrote a scathing piece, and of course the rest of the corrupt, blood libel media picked up on it and spread this phony story, hoping to depress turnout. It didn’t work.

As the day rolled on, reports began coming in of sold out shows from coast to coast. Several theaters had to move the film to a larger theater to accommodate the crowds. There were also reports of loud cheering throughout the movie, and in Atlanta, at the end of the movie the audience gave creator Stephen Bannon a five minute standing ovation!

The media was still trying to keep it’s meme going though, with many local stations just flat out lying about the movie and attendance numbers. CNN sent it’s crew to the Atlanta opening trying to ambush attendees.

Reuters dismissed the first sold out show reported, in Grapevine, Texas as insignificant, because “Grapevine is just a small town.” Yeah it’s a “small town” located in the middle of the Dallas-Ft Worth Metroplex. Dallas is the 9th largest city in America, and Ft Worth the 17th. Their combined population, not counting the couple dozen [or more] “small towns” that lie between and around the two cities, the Metroplex combined population is roughly equal to Houston’s, the 4th largest city in the country. So much for Reuters.

As there were two theaters in Texas showing The Undefeated Grapevine and Houston, people had good choices. Both locations drew people from hundreds of miles away. The Grapevine location drew people from Oklahoma and Louisiana, as well as Central Texas, which is over 100 miles away. Houston drew people from South Texas and the Beaumont-Orange area. A nice little drive.

As we watched throughout the day, more and more reports came in as enthusiastic fans filled the seats. While everyone focused on the prime time showings, the ones sure to sell out, we also noticed in many cities the afternoon showings either sold out, or were only a handful of seats away from doing so. This enthusiasm would carry over to Saturday, when even more shows sold out.

Percentage wise, only Harry Potter had a better opening weekend than The Undefeated. This is amazing because Victory Films did no traditional advertising. This was all done via the internet and word of mouth. The Twitter campaign alone was incredible. Obviously Palin supporters worked hard to make this happen as well, knowing this movie is a game changer, and tells the story that no one but long time, hard core supporters know. And even for the long timers, this movie reveals more about Sarah Palin and what an excellent chief executive she is.

There were all kinds of stories of people dragging non-Palin supporters with them to the movie, and many converts being made. Notably one Conservative blogger, Ben Howe, one of the folks who actually believed the corrupt media’s version of Sarah, rather than the truth, has said that both he and his wife felt nothing but shame after seeing the movie, because they now realize how wrong they were to believe the media, and the GOP establishment’s narrative.

This past weekend was nothing short of phenomenal. Bannon is now talking about a larger nationwide roll-out, as well as a deal with Wal-Mart to distribute DVDs.

There was a lot of great reporting this weekend. Here are some links you should check out:

Victory Film Group: ARC Entertainment Announces Strong Opening for “The Undefeated,” with multiple sold-out runs and vocal audience support

Top of the Ticket: Sarah Palin documentary ‘The Undefeated’ to roll out to other cities

Ian Lazaran CNN Concedes the Auditorium Where the Undefeated Was Shown Near Atlanta “Was Packed” and “Sold Out”

Then there is this from Ben Howe: ‘The Undefeated’ Review: A Profoundly Important Game-changer (Especially For Me) Howe was not a Palin supporter when he saw the movie. [on DVD] He had bought into the nonsense spewed by the left, and the Republican elite.

Ultimately, I thought she was the type of political force that was going to be around, needed to be treaded on carefully, but would never have anything substantial to offer to the cause of conservatism other than rallying troops which I still believed was a valuable service.

I thought she hadn’t gotten a fair shake in the media, but I felt confident that I could see through the bias and that I understood who she was, what she had done and what my opinion would probably be about her going forward.

I was entirely incorrect.

I consider the director of “The Undefeated”, Stephen Bannon, to be a friend of mine. He’s advised me in my own fledgling productions. I’ve interviewed him a handful of times on my podcast and we always talk for over an hour effortlessly. When I heard he was making this film, I immediately wanted to interview him, but I assumed that everything I knew about Palin would simply be confirmed by watching this.

We popped the film into our DVD player, and sat back to watch. One thing I had no doubts about was that Stephen Bannon would make a visually impressive, compelling film that would stir emotion. I was pleased to see that he used his trademark method of letting the people directly tied to the events tell the story (I often find narration cumbersome) adding their own particular emotions and perspectives to the narrative. These were all things that I expected and Bannon did not disappoint.

The film moves at a breakneck pace while still laying out a level of detail that brings you so close to the events, you feel like you personally experienced them.

Even had the substance not convinced me that I had Mrs. Palin pegged wrong, the film itself would most certainly have scored high for me as my all important test was passed: Did I look at my watch? No I did not.

In short, the execution of this film is excellent.

But what had me and my wife blown away by the time it was over, was the avalanche of information and perspectives that had been hidden from us over the years. As I would like for you to listen to my interview with Steve, I will not get into the substance of what caused the change. I want you to hear it for yourself.

I pride myself on my ability to know when something is baloney, almost instinctively. On Sarah Palin, I was so incredibly hoodwinked that the one word that my wife and I agreed described how we felt after watching it, was shame. Yes of course invigoration, satisfaction and all the other things you experience when watching a good film, but about how we had handled our vetting of Mrs. Palin, shame was the word that best described it.

Shame for not bothering to look up her record. Shame for not reading her story. Shame for turning the channel when she came on the TV. Shame for not listening to people that we had a great deal of respect for like Andrew Breitbart, Tammy Bruce, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

As Breitbart points out in the film, the greatest shame is that while this woman was savaged to degrees you may not even realize yet, some of us sat back and let it happen. For me to buy into the media template and not defend someone who’s only offense was being a conservative, is the absolute antithesis of what I stand for, and something that I shall never allow to happen again.

Read more and listen to Ben’s great interview with Stephen Bannon here

The bottom line is this movie, in a short time, with nothing but word of mouth advertising, via Twitter and Facebook, is a great success.

It is indeed a game changer. Palin supporters are making a point of taking their non-Palin supporting friends and neighbors to see the movie. Not only are these folks seeing the real Sarah Palin for the first time, they are learning why they should support Sarah. You can bet these converts will go out and find other people to convert as well. This is why the media has been working so hard to make people think no one is going to see the movie, or that the movie sucks. They understand just how powerful Bannon’s movie is, as well as how powerful Sarah Palin is.

Bannon made this movie because our media is corrupt, and carries the water for Obama and the democrat party, and lie about important events that effect the nation. The actions by this corrupt media this weekend prove his point.

The Undefeated is showing at these 10 theaters throughout the week. There are multiple showings daily, and senior discounts. If you haven’t yet seen The Undefeated go, and take a few friends. To check show times, order tickers, and so on, click here.

Nancy French: What It Was Like to Co-Write the Bristol Palin Memoir

Posted by Ron Devito on July 19, 2011

Today, US for Palin is pleased to feature Nancy French, the co-author of Bristol Palin’s Not Afraid of Life. In “What It Was Like to Co-Write the Bristol Palin Memoir,” Nancy gives her unique perspective on co-writing Bristol’s book during the month she spent with the Palins. Nancy also co-authored Home and Away: A Story of Family in a Time of War with her husband David. He was in Iraq on the front lines while she was home. Track Palin went to the same province in Iraq, just a few days after David left it. This circumstance may have been a factor in Bristol selecting Nancy as her co-author.

Nancy shared with me that during her stay in Wasilla, she frequented the Mocha Moose on West Parks Highway, which brews Governor Palin’s favorite coffee Good Morning Alaska. I routinely have 1-lb. bags of it shipped to my home and it is by far my favorite coffee as well along with its high-octane counterpart Whoa Nellie! The Mocha Moose proudly supports the Palins as evidenced by the “Dance Bristol Dance” sign on their building.

My friends and I huddled around my iPhone, as we listened to my agent’s voicemail.

“Nancy, Harper Collins wants you to submit your resume for an opportunity to write for a young Christian celebrity,” he said. “But I can’t tell you who it is.”

I never considered myself a “ghost writer,” since I’ve published my own memoir about being a southerner living in New York and a book about Iraq I co-authored with my husband about his deployment and it’s effect on our family. I was definitely interested, however, and the mystery only deepened my interest.

Immediately, my friends and I began guessing. Miley Cyrus? Taylor Swift?

Because I live near Nashville, Tennessee, I assumed they were interested in my geographic location as much as my writing ability. Surely, an up-and-coming country musician needed help with her book, and I was exactly the kind of local writer who could pop in and out with minimal inconvenience.

That’s why I was surprised to get a call from Harper Collins a few weeks later – after I’d figured I’d been passed over for a more typical ghost writer (excuse me, “collaborator”). “Can you be on a call with Bristol Palin in one hour?”

Immediately, I figured I wouldn’t get the job. Though I’d “collaborated” before, my efforts haven’t yet been published. Surely she’d want someone more experienced for a book that would be analyzed, dissected, critiqued, and attacked. Bristol was noncommittal in that first conversation, and ended it by saying “I just need to talk to my mom.”

I tried to imagine that conversation, Momma Grizzly herself having a discussion with her daughter about me – a writer who lives in the Mule Capital of the World, Columbia, Tennessee.

It seemed too surreal to be true. Within days, however, I was in Wasilla, Alaska.

“I can stay on your couch or wherever in your apartment,” I texted Bristol on the way. “I won’t be a nuisance.”

She sent me an address, and I was certainly surprised when I drove up Todd and Sarah Palin’s driveway. Ice cemented the ground under the snow, and Christmas lights decorated an iron gate. (White lights or colored? Guess in the comments section.)

“This is my parents’ house,” Bristol said as she came out to greet me. She looked great – young and fit in her yoga pants and North Face jacket. “You’ll be staying here.”

She led me to where I’d be living for the next month, in a detached building on the Palin’s property, where Gov. Palin films her Fox interviews. In fact, I frequently wrote perched high in her chair, with a frozen Lake Lucille outside the tall windows. Cars drove by slowly on the lake, no doubt taking photos of their house. Some did “donuts” and skidded around on the ice. A couple of guys were ice fishing. A moose slowly ambled across the frozen water and made his way to the Palin’s house.

Bloggers R Us!

Posted by Roderic Deane on July 18, 2011

I had a great show yesterday. The Roderic Deane Show is a work in progress, but yesterday’s show set a new standard for me. I had 3 fantastic Sarah Palin bloggers on the show. I first talked to Josh Painter, editor and chief contributor to Texans for Sarah Palin. After I was able to pry the microphone out of Josh’s hand (figuratively speaking, he called in), I segued to Tami, the force behind Moms 4 Sarah Palin. I ended the show with Adrienne Ross, who’s contributions at Motivation Truth, Conservatives4Palin, and this site are legend.

We talked about their motivation for starting to blog, their focus on Sarah Palin and had a great discussion about the Sarah Palin documentary, “The Undefeated“. I would encourage everyone to listen to the show. I had a phenomenally great time and I think Josh, Tami and Adrienne did as well.

The Undefeated Earns $5K/Screen though Saturday Night

Posted by Ron Devito on July 17, 2011

Approximately $5,000 per screen through Saturday night

“What would have taken months and cost millions, ARC did in weeks with virtually no traditional media advertising”

Wider national rollout to commence in the coming weeks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Santa Monica, Calif. (July 17, 2011) – ARC Entertainment, the distributor of “The Undefeated,” the film about Gov. Sarah Palin’s rise from obscurity to national prominence, announced today that through Saturday night the film had a stronger opening than expected with the large markets trending towards weekend per screen averages above $10,000 driven by multiple sold-out runs. The film had accumulated approximately $5,000 per screen through Saturday night. Unique in the theatrical feature world, The Undefeated was rushed to select digital theatres in only 3 weeks, and was marketed almost entirely through social media and grass roots efforts, with virtually no traditional media spend. With the strong initial showing, the film is going to a wider release footprint later this month, with details being announced soon.

The film opened in 10 markets on Friday including Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, Orlando, FL, Indianapolis, IN, Kansas City, MO, Oklahoma City, OK and Orange, CA.

“We are extremely pleased with the audience reaction, which has been over-the-top enthusiastic and very passionate, including standing ovations at most screenings,” said Trevor Drinkwater, CEO of ARC Entertainment, the film’s distributor. “We expect word-of-mouth to keep ticket sales strong and we will definitely expand the film to a wider national audience. With merely three weeks of preparation and a virtually non-existent traditional advertising spend, the film did exceptionally well. ” .

“We have been told the theaters in Phoenix, Atlanta, Denver and Indianapolis moved the film to bigger screens to accommodate oversized crowds. Because of high-ticket sales, the Phoenix theater put ‘The Undefeated’ on two screens during one showing to accommodate demand,” stated Andy Badolato, VP Marketing and Business Development of Victory Film Group and Associate Producer of “The Undefeated.”

Over the weekend reports also documented the strong ticket sales and enthusiastic audience reaction. Reuters reported, “It may not be ‘Harry Potter,’ but another film featuring a bespectacled protagonist is racking up strong pre-sales before its national roll-out this weekend.” AOL’s Patch reported, “Reactions from filmgoers attending the screening were overwhelmingly positive.” The Brisbane Times of Australia reported, “‘The Undefeated,’ a documentary tracing Sarah Palin’s rise to political power, has opened in US theatres to overwhelmingly positive opinion.”

“ARC Entertainment and its digital distribution partner Cinedigm did an incredible job opening weekend,” said Stephen K. Bannon, the film’s writer and director. “This was a high risk bet- a national release in ten disparate markets with only three weeks preparation supported solely by social media. What would have taken months and cost millions in P & A, ARC Entertainment and Cinedigm accomplished within a month with negligible costs. This film will find its audience because of its appeal and our savvy distribution partners.”

“The Undefeated is the perfect example of how digital cinema can benefit both producers and audiences,” said Jill Newhouse Calcaterra, chief marketing officer at Cinedigm. “Starting with theatre location selection, we worked quickly – with precision accuracy- to generate a terrific box office result with virtually no marketing dollars. This is a new model that is going to benefit the entire entertainment industry and audiences who want to see unique products.”

“The combination of passionate audience response, sustained standing ovations and in-theater Twittering convinces us that this is a special film that will have incredible word-of-mouth,” said Glenn Bracken Evans, Victory Film Group co-founder. “The film’s website www.theundefeatedmovie.com has received hundreds of thousands of hits. I am truly amazed that in certain markets we will hit or exceed the $10,000 per screen mark given that we had absolutely no electronic media spend and only booked the theaters weeks ago. I’m particularly amazed we accomplished this in Phoenix and Orange County, two of the country’s most competitive markets during one of the toughest summer weekends and up against Harry Potter.”

Written and directed by Bannon and produced by Victory Film Group co-founder Glenn Bracken Evans and Dan Fleuette, “The Undefeated” was independently financed by Victory Film Group and its partners.

The film includes leading prominent political commentators Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce and Andrew Breitbart as well as conservative activists Kate Obenshein, Sonnie Johnson and Jamie Radtke. Additionally, the film features interviews with Alaskan civil servants, elected officials and advisors who were involved in Alaskan politics during Governor Palin’s tenure.

“It’s Like Our First Team Is Standing On the Sidelines” N.H. Voter waiting For Palin To Announce.

Posted by M.Joseph Sheppard At Palin4President2016 on July 17, 2011

The Los Angeles Times, which admittedly has, of recent times, been comparatively fair and balanced when it comes to prospective GOP candidates-especially Sarah Palin, (guilt for past bias?) has a substantial article on Rudy Giuliani, who is currently on a tour of New Hanpshire.

The article contains an interview with Giuliani where his past campaign, which was a poorly thought our affair, his possible run in 2012 ” he has given  thought little about whether he will enter the 2012 race” but is leaving his options open “based on whether any of the candidates can beat Obama”.

I have expressed the belief that Giuliani would be an ideal VP candidate for Sarah Palin bringing so much to that team as regards experience, executive management, foreign affairs experience, business management andof course respect.

This viewed was shared by GOP activists-he ran away with an on line poll I conducted on who should be Palin’s VP pick when experienced potential candidates were considered.

What stood out from the article however was a quote from a 73 year activist who came to hear Giuliani and who had supported him in 2008;

“And there are clearly some voters who share that view, like Jack Hughes, 73, who volunteered for Giuliani’s effort last time.

Hughes and his wife, Joanne, who attended Giuliani’s New London drop-by Friday, said they were unimpressed by the choices and were waiting for entries by Giuliani, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

“It’s like our first team is standing on the sidelines,” Hughes said. Though he spoke glowingly of Giuliani’s efforts to clean up New York — which would be central to his campaign — Hughes said he and his wife were disappointed by Giuliani’s last campaign. “

Mr. Hughes shows the wisdom of his age and his long time in politics with this observation that the “heavy hitters” have not yet come up to bat-particularly Palin without whose decision, one  way or the other, no realistic assessment of who is going to get the nomination can be made. Should she decide to run  a Palin/Giuliani team would be formidable in 2012.

More on First Day Success of ‘The Undefeated’

Posted by Adrienne Ross on July 16, 2011

More reports are pouring in about the first day success of The Undefeated. Matt Lewis did a roundup of the rave reviews:

The new Sarah Palin documentary, “The Undefeated” debuted in select theaters this weekend. It’s still early, but so far, it is garnering impressive reviews. Following is a quick roundup:

Brisbane Times:

Palin doco wins public praise (01:25) The Undefeated, a documentary tracing Sarah Palin’s rise to political power, has opened in US theatres to overwhelmingly positive opinion.

Reuters:

It may not be “Harry Potter,” but another film featuring a bespectacled protagonist is racking up strong pre-sales before its national roll-out this weekend. “The Undefeated,” a glowing look at failed vice-presidential candidate and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has already sold out a show in Grapevine, Texas (population 46,000), according to the distributor Cinedigm. Grapevine isn’t exactly a teeming metropolis but the film is set to roll out across Tea Party country in 10 AMC theaters.

Kennesaw Patch:

When Sarah Palin said, “More government is not the answer,” the audience in theater 8 at AMC Barrett Commons 24 erupted with applause.”The Undefeated” premieres at AMC Barrett Commons 24 with an appearance by Director Stephen Bannon. Reactions from filmgoers attending the screening were overwhelmingly positive. “I believe she’s honestly just a great person,” said Garrett Wilson, who traveled from Chatsworth, Ga. to attend Friday night’s screening of the film.

Reuters (Orange County, CA) :

“Run, Sarah, run!” shouted Californian Sherman Roodzant, 64, as the final credits rolled on the 1:10 p.m. showing in a half-filled theater in Orange. Roodzant drove 150 miles (240 km) to see it and said it was worth every mile.

Houston FOX Affiliate:

Faithful fans arrived early. Donna Galloway drove all the way from Beaumont for the debut. ”Undefeated is about having losses but coming back for victories,” said Galloway.

Fort Worth Star Telegram:

While a wizard named Potter is on track to rule the box office this weekend, it was a former governor named Palin who had conservatives excited at the AMC Grapevine Mills 30 theater Friday evening. The Grapevine theater is the only one showing the film in North Texas. At least one of Friday’s scheduled viewings sold out.One fan brought a wagon adorned with a sign reading “Texas is Palin Country” and filled with postcards touting the former vice presidential candidate’s views and accomplishments.

Furthermore, Ian Lazaran reports the following:

Scott Conroy tweets:

CEO of ARC Entertainment (the distributor of Palin film): “First day results for ‘The Undefeated’ were strong.”

Ian also takes it to the media (emphasis mine):

I find it hilarious that so many in the mainstream media are writing articles about how they don’t know how the movie has done thus far. It would be pretty easy to find out this information and the fact that reporters are actually publishing articles about how they don’t know how the movie is doing thus far suggests that they want to find out. If reporters did try to find out this information, they’d be forced to report that The Undefeated as of yesterday had the strongest average per screen attendance of any movie shown at AMC theaters sans Harry Potter.

I join Governor Palin in congratulating The Undefeated team on their success as she did on Facebook today.

A successful opening is wonderful, and it’s what we expected. Let’s keep the momentum. More people need to see this film, which reveals the truth the media won’t tell you about Governor Palin’s stellar career in the state of Alaska. To buy tickets, go here. Keep in mind that theaters have sold out, so without pre-purchasing tickets, you face the possibility of missing out on any particular showing. I, therefore, still strongly recommend pre-ordering your tickets. If the film is not showing in your city, all hope is not lost. Vote to have it shown in your area by clicking here.
