Palin takes on union bosses and Michael Moore

Posted by loricalabrese on March 12, 2011

Sarah Palin appeared on Hannity Thursday and weighed in on the Wisconsin debate, calling on union bosses to turn down the rhetoric.

Palin said, “These union bosses that are acting like thugs as they are leading some of their good union members down a road that will ultimately result in unfortunately, somebody getting hurt, if you believe the death threats that are being received by those who just happen to support amending some collective bargaining privileges of state unions. Well, it is these union bosses’ responsiblity to turn down the rhetoric and start getting truth out there so nobody gets hurt.”

Palin argued that Wisconsin has been “strategically picked” by Democrats and their labor allies as a must-win political battle and she pointed to filmmaker Michael Moore as an example of the Left’s approach. It was the liberal filmmaker on Saturday who urged Wisconsin residents to fight against Republican efforts, telling thousands of protesters that “Madison is only the beginning.”

Moore was also interviewed on Wednesday by MSNBC, causing Palin to take to Twitter …

Did MSNBC bother to ask him about this last night? Nah… MT@bighollywood: Hypocrite Michael Moore Snubs Union Workers:

Palin was referencing the fact that Moore didn’t even use union employees in the making of his most recent film, “Capitalism: A Love Story.”

When asked about taking the fight to Moore on Hannity, Palin replied, “Michael Moore is a hypocrite. Here he is declaring war on the situation. He’s trying to get people to believe that what [Republican governor] Scott Walker has succeeded in doing, in trying to get their state to rein in government and live within their means, that that is somehow ‘declaring war’ on the working class. When, look at Michael Moore in his own profession, choosing not to use union workers as crew members on his films. That’s hypocritical. He’s contributing to that rhetoric and causing more problems.”

HBO names actress to play Palin in new movie

Posted by loricalabrese on March 12, 2011

2012 is creeping up fast and with rumors speculating about a Sarah Palin presidential run, many authors and movie-makers are seizing the opportunity to get in on the action.

Frank Bailey, one of Sarah Palin’s former advisers has penned a tell-all memoir that’s being shopped around and author Joe McGinniss is releasing his book,The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin, on Sept. 20th.

Now entering the mix is an HBO film of the book, “Game Change,” by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, the campaign book that overflowed with gossip about the inner workings of the McCain and Obama operations during the 2008 presidential race.

Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore will portray the former Alaska governor in the project, which will chronicle Palin’s burst into the national scene as a surprise vice presidential candidate in 2008. It was announced on Wednesday that Moore had landed the role.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the film will be directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong, who previously teamed up for HBO’s docudrama Recount, which focused on the aftermath of the 2000 election.

No other cast members were announced, and HBO did not say when production on the film would begin.

The Ticket: Palin and Huckabee sent aides to RNC meeting on 2012

Posted by joshpainter on March 12, 2011

– by Josh Painter
From Holly Bailey at Yahoo’s The Ticket blog:

Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee have been cagey about whether they’ll run for president in 2012. But the pair still sent political aides to a meeting at the Republican National Committee this week about party logistics headed into next year’s presidential campaign

According to Politico’s Jonathan Martin, newly elected RNC chief Reince Priebus convened the meeting, which included staffers from the potential Palin and Huckabee campaigns, as well as aides representing all-but-declared candidates Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney. Notably, Mitch Daniels, who said last week that Indiana’s budget crisis might curtail his 2012 efforts, didn’t send anyone to the meeting.

Is it true? Considering that it comes from fact-challenged Politico, who knows? Nevertheless, this should add plenty of fuel to keep the ol’ media speculation motor spinning…
