Governor Palin Tells O’Reilly to Stop Interrupting, Then Discusses Entitlement Reform

Posted by Adrienne Ross on March 5, 2011

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

On Bill O’Reilly last night, Governor Palin discussed cutting budgets and reforming entitlements. That is, after she told him to stop interrupting her so she could finish a thought! I’m not sure anyone has ever told Bill to shut up (kindly) before, but it was long overdue. Way to go, Gov!

Governor Palin vs. Governor Christie Equals Doing What’s Right vs. Doing What’s Necessary

Posted by Adrienne Ross on March 5, 2011

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

Governor Palin appeared on Fox Business Network last night with David Asman. The video is below. The buzz last night and today is how she pointed out the difference between cutting spending when you have no choice and cutting spending when you have a surplus simply because it’s right. She does so by contrasting what she did as governor of Alaska and what Governor Chris Christie is doing in New Jersey.

You can find those comments early in the first video, and here’s the transcript:

And with all due respect to Governor Christie, you know he has no choice but to cut budgets because he’s broke. His state is broke. What courage really is, is in the face of having a surplus when you have opportunity to spend, spend, spend other people’s money, you still choose to reign in government to let the private sector soar. That’s real courage, and by the way, that’s what I did as Governor here when I engaged in hiring freezes, and reduced earmarks by 86%, and vetoed the largest amounts in our state’s history. Despite having a surplus that’s real leadership, and that’s courage.

But I do appreciate that Governor Christie is willing to face the reality in his state, and that is that they are going bankrupt. So he has to cut. He has no choice.

Real leadership is also recognizing and giving credit to others who are taking a stand for the right thing, which Gov. Christie apparently cannot do, and Governor Palin can–and does, as you’ll see in the video.

Watch the two short videos below, and listen to this particular discussion as well as other topics. I found the conversation regarding unions in the public vs. private sector to be most interesting.

Palin’s confidence evident as she takes on O’Reilly, Christie and Obama

Posted by loricalabrese on March 5, 2011

Even though Sarah Palin has been a mayor and a governor, the day she became John McCain’s surprise pick as Republican running mate, the former Alaska Governor has been cross-examined vigorously and exposed to tough questions all in an attempt to prove that she’s inexperienced. On Friday, Palin took to FOX News and proved she is not only experienced, but confident and ready to offer an unscripted response to anyone’s words of wisdom.

Palin appeared on America’s Nightly Scoreboard on Fox Business and had a quick response when Host David Asman informed Palin that Chris Christie had told Fox Business News that he didn’t see any politicians as inspiring. “Do you?” Asman asked.

“Heck yeah, I am so thankful for all these common sense conservative politicians to serve and cut for the right reasons,” she said. “And with all due respect to Governor Christie, you know he has no choice but to cut budgets because he’s broke, his state is broke. What courage really is, is in the face of having a surplus when you have opportunity to spend, spend, spend other people’s money, and you still choose to rein in government to let the private sector soar.”

Palin went on to say that’s what she did as Governor of Alaska when she engaged in hiring freezes, reduced earmarks by 86% and vetoed the largest amounts in Alaska’s history. However, Palin did say she appreciates that Christie is willing to face the reality of bankruptcy in his state.

Asman then asked Palin about Obama’s role in the debate over unions and collective bargaining in Wisconsin…

Robert Lane Greene on Governor Palin’s Mastery of Language

Posted by Adrienne Ross on March 5, 2011

By Adrienne Ross – http://www.motivationtruth.com

The following article by Robert Lane Greene appeared yesterday at CNN.com:

Friday is National Grammar Day, a commemoration of sorts begun in 2008 by the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar.

[…]

Palin is as masterly with language as Bush was not. She uses her unique way of speaking to devastating political effect. She has every confidence in her ability to reach her audience. Bush was reduced to half-apologizing for his stumbles. Palin owns them.

After “refudiate,” she sent a follow-up tweet. “English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!” With trademark confidence, she turned the tables on the pointy-heads who mock her.

[…]

I was at Palin’s coming-out speech at the 2008 Republican National Convention. She may not have written her line about the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom (“lipstick”), but she delivered it perfectly. Watch it again. The crowd roared. She drew increased confidence and swagger as she went on. At the beginning she was an unknown. By the end, she was the Sarah Palin you know today. She now overshadows, in her ability to grab attention, the entire 2012 Republican field.

So on National Grammar Day, remember: Language is about communicating effectively, not just memorizing some highfalutin’ rules. Bo Diddley knows that. So does Palin. Democrats (and Republicans) “misunderestimate” her at their peril.
