Hair-Gate Pushers Use Haiti to Advance Their Anti-Palin Agenda

Posted by Adrienne Ross on December 13, 2010

By Adrienne Ross –

When Haiti is in dire need of humanitarian assistance, and when people like Rev. Franklin Graham, Governor Palin, and Greta Van Susteren are willing to travel there to offer such assistance, one would think the lamestream media would consider this, of all things, too important to include in their anti-Palin antics. But no. In addition to their to-be-expected obsessive preoccupations with tearing apart any and every move Governor Palin makes, now they’ve focused on her hair–again. They did this once before, stating she was so stressed it was falling out. They were wrong then, and they are wrong yet again.

The Associated Press accused her of bringing a hair dresser along with her to Haiti when, in fact, what they considered her dolling up for a photo-op was simply her daughter, Bristol, adjusting her mother’s hair clip.

The AP has now conceded that it was indeed Bristol and that they made a mistake, but come on. Perhaps they should stop acting like immature, deranged, ultra-partisans doing everything in their power to demonize–or rather divaize–Governor Palin, and focus instead on what really matters. She went with Rev. Graham to help, to be a blessing, to “love on” people who are going through an ordeal most of us, by the help of God, will never have to endure. Can these haters suppress their vitriol long enough to simply deal with that, rather than using Haiti’s situation to advance their own sick agenda?

Check out this screen shot, courtesy of Stacy Drake:

The publicizing of the picture then galvanized the Palin-haters who sit around daily looking for dirt on the Governor. Kristinn at Free Republic calls them out:

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin traveled to Haiti this weekend as a guest of the Rev. Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse to spotlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the earthquake and cholera-stricken Caribbean (half an) island nation. Instead she has found herself embroiled in a scandal, accused of bringing a hair stylist on the trip to make herself look good for the cameras and “photo-ops.”.

The Associated Press transmitted a photo from Haiti of Palin captioned, “Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, center, has her hair done during a visit to a cholera treatment center set up by the NGO Samaritan’s Purse in Cabaret, Haiti, Saturday Dec. 11, 2010. Palin arrived Saturday in Haiti as part of a brief humanitarian mission. Dieu Nalio Chery / AP”

That photo and caption set off rabid attacks on Palin from the Huffington Post, the U.K.’s Daily Mail and, of course, Palingates.

The photo does indeed show Sarah Palin standing with her husband Todd as a woman whose face is obscured uses two hands to fix the hair on the right side of Palin’s head.

However, one can observe that the woman is white, with her brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, wearing a white shirt with a bulky scarf and dark pants.

In other photos from Saturday, Todd and Sarah Palin’s white, brunette, eldest daughter Bristol, who accompanied her parents on the trip to Haiti, is wearing the exact same clothing and ponytail as the “hair stylist” in the AP photo.

That’s right, what the Palin-hating AP and others fail to report is that the “hair stylist” is Bristol Palin.

The AP photographer who sent the caption would have known that it was Bristol Palin, but by not mentioning her the AP was able to do a media hit on Palin but still be able to claim they told the “truth” with the caption.

Kristinn goes on to point out some captions the Palin-haters promoted:

The Daily Mail:

Ready for Her Close Up…Sarah Palin Lands in Haiti (where they don’t care what her hair looks like)

The Huffington Post (aka the Huff and Puff):

Reading the Pictures: Palin Does Haiti Cholera: How’s My Hair (and did AP lend a curl?)

The certifiably crazy at Palingates:

BREAKING NEWS: Palin Looks Good in Haiti

It’s unreal how facts don’t matter as long as they can spin a story to make Governor Palin look bad, even when it involves Samaritan Purse’s honorable work on behalf of Haitians in need.

Now the AP has walked back their claim and changed their original caption. Michael Calderone writes:

The AP photo caption now describes Palin as having “her hair fixed by her daughter Bristol.”

AP spokesman Paul Colford explained to The Cutline that it wasn’t “immediately clear” that the person photographed next to Palin was her daughter. “Once we figured out it was Bristol Palin,” he said, “we amended the caption accordingly.”

Not “immediately clear”? Well, that’s where checking facts comes in. Had they not been salivating like a rabid dog in their determination to bash a Palin, they might have taken the time to do that. But that malignant Palin Derangement Syndrome does dull the senses now, doesn’t it? Sickening!

Try as these people might to do Governor Palin dirty every time, they continue to show themselves to be who they really are: opposers of those who simply want to do good in this world.

Hi Governor Palin, I applaud you for going to Haiti. My daughter, Britney Gengel was killed in the earthquake at The Hotel Montana this year. She text me and told me “mom~they have nothing, they have a roof over their head and dirt on the floor ~but they’re happy”. She saw what you saw. She wanted to go back and start an orphanage herself so my husband & I and 2 boys are doing just that. We are in process of purchasing land and have a architectural & structural plan that is earthquake proof. The building will be in the shape of the letter “B” and will house 33 girls and 33 boys which represent the 33 days that Britney was missing in the rubble. We are honoring our daughter’s last wish and we think it’s wonderful that you are helping to keep the spotlight on Haiti! Thank you!

It is sick. The hatred for Palin. Truth has never been a problem for Marxism.
