Governor Palin Shows Juan Williams More Graciousness Than He Ever Showed Her

NPR fired Juan Williams Wednesday night for expressing his nervousness when on a plane with people who choose to identify themselves first as Muslims. For this he gets fired. This is what the Left does to people who don’t follow their agenda: silence them by any means necessary. Juan Williams was speaking for himself. Truth be told, he simply voiced a feeling that many Americans share. It’s called being honest.

The hypocrisy of the Left is disgusting. MSNBC, for example, makes reprehensible comments about conservatives, particularly Governor Palin and tea party Americans, and people on their side of the aisle couldn’t care less. Christians and their values are mocked by the Left daily, and nothing is said. We all know if Juan Williams had said Christians make him nervous, or tea partiers are dangerous, he would have been applauded rather than fired. But voicing his own nervousness when encountering Muslims on a plane gets him fired. That’s Liberals for you–and that’s the hypocrisy to which they are married. NPR is more desirous of political correctness than truth from their employees, having no respect, apparently, for First Amendment rights.

I’m no fan of Juan Williams, and I take umbrage at the disrespectful, sexist comments he’s made about Governor Palin (see video), but NPR was out of line to fire him. Where were they when given the opportunity to denounce his sexist comments about the Governor? This firing is just further evidence of the Left’s glaring hypocrisy and intolerance for anything that opposes their agenda. His association with Fox News has long been a thorn in their side, and his recent comments when speaking to Bill O’Reilly, gave them the excuse they needed to send him packing. This is the real deal behind all this. NPR, in bed with George Soros and receiving tax-payer dollars, clearly has an agenda. Like all Liberals, NPR wants to silence conservative media, like Fox News, because they have no respect for free speech whatsoever. More disturbing, this love affair the Left has cultivated with political correctness is going to lead us down a most dangerous road if unchecked.

Governor Palin, modeling true graciousness and class, has come out in support of Williams in spite of how he has treated her. She showed her support on Twitter several times today. Here are a few of those tweets:

1. NPR defends 1st Amendment Right, but will fire u if u exercise it. Juan Williams: u got taste of Left’s hypocrisy,they screwed up firing you

2. Juan Williams: Going Rogue. NPR should receive NO fed tax dollars if it operates as intolerant, private radio. Mr. President, what say you?

Governor Palin followed up her many tweets with a Facebook note, joining others who are calling for the defunding of NPR:

At a time when our country is dangerously in debt and looking for areas of federal spending to cut, I think we’ve found a good candidate for defunding. National Public Radio is a public institution that directly or indirectly exists because the taxpayers fund it. And what do we, the taxpayers, get for this? We get to witness Juan Williams being fired from NPR for merely speaking frankly about the very real threat this country faces from radical Islam.

I don’t expect Juan Williams to support me (he’s said some tough things about me in the past) – but I will always support his right and the right of all Americans to speak honestly about the threats this country faces. And for Juan, speaking honestly about these issues isn’t just his right, it’s his job. Up until yesterday, he was doing that job at NPR. Firing him is their loss.

If NPR is unable to tolerate an honest debate about an issue as important as Islamic terrorism, then it’s time for “National Public Radio” to become “National Private Radio.” It’s time for Congress to defund this organization.

Why is this far-Left radio network being funded by our tax-payer dollars anyway? Looks like it’s time for a change, and NPR has just dug itself a hole they may not be able to get out of. I hope calling attention to themselves simply because they hate Juan Williams’ connection to Fox News was worth it because people are not going to let this go. NPR may have just cost itself some federal dollars. And to that, I say, “Well, it’s about time.”

I repeat: I’m not a fan of Juan Williams. I am a fan of truth, however. The truth is this: once again, the Left displays its intolerance, hypocrisy, and utter depravity. And once again, Governor Palin extends graciousness to one who has been none too gracious toward her.
