Palin has best three months of fundraising

Posted by loricalabrese on October 13, 2010

You’ve heard it from Palin before: that you can make an impact in your elections without having a title. Well, Sarah Palin is standing by her claim and as a result, has had by far the best three months of fundraising since being the 2008 vice presidential candidate.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin raised more than $1.2 million for her political action committee during the last quarter, giving $93,500 to conservative candidates she favors in the midterm elections.

The total — which is nearly 50 percent more than her previous high mark, achieved in the second quarter of this year — was disclosed in a report filed Tuesday morning with the Federal Election Commission by SarahPAC, Palin’s leadership political action committee.

Palin gave money to 15 candidates, including $10,000 to U.S. Senate hopefuls Christine O’Donnell of Delaware and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, U.S. Senate hopefuls Marco Rubio of Florida and John Hoeven of North Dakota, each with $5,000; Sharron Angle of Nevada and Rand Paul in Kentucky. She contributed $10,000 to Joe Miller, the tea party favorite in her home state who upset U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary and is seeking to turn back Murkowski’s write-in candidacy in the Nov. 2 election.

Palin also gave $10,000 to the Iowa Republican Party, donations that coincided with her unity speech at the party’s largest annual fundraiser last month.

While Palin continues to make an impact on the midterm elections, what Tuesday’s report also shows is that Palin is in a good place should she decide to seek the 2012 nomination.
