ABC Gets to the Bottom of “Boo-Gate”

ABC was obviously embarrassed by the lamestream media’s attempt to create a DWTS controversy now known as Boo-Gate. Not only did they address the misinformation on the Tuesday night show last week ( see here and here ), but they also included this discussion in their Episode Guide for Week 2:
Now then, let’s get to the bottom of “Boo-Gate.”Last night, after Jennifer and Derek’s fantastic Jive, the judges gave gushing critiques. But then they gave them three 8’s. While Brooke was interviewing the team in the skybox, boos started in the audience, and Brooke and team Baby Derek, busy on air with their backs to the audience, didn’t know what the boos were about. When Brooke’s interview was done, the camera cut to Tom in the audience sitting next to Sarah Palin, introducing her. And the audience applauded for her.
Rumor spread that the boos were for Sarah. But, in fact, the boos were the crowd reacting to the judges’ score, thinking that Jennifer and Derek deserved higher for what was, admittedly, an amazing performance. Tom tweeted about it and others spoke up, but many people didn’t believe the story.
So tonight, the show showed an unedited shot of what was going on onstage while the TV audience was watching Brooke’s interview in the skybox. After the scores were read, people started grumbling their displeasure. Bruno and Carrie Ann are seen defending their 8’s. The boos start growing louder, and the judges turn around to face the audience, which only makes the yelling increase. Apparently the audience felt the dance deserved 9’s. An exasperated Bruno yells back, “What’s-a-matter-you?!”
Then Tom starts talking, the audience immediately quiets down, and as soon as he introduces Sarah Palin the audience applauds.
Which shows that the Dancing with the Stars audience is always polite and appreciative of guests, but they’re quite opinionated about their dancing!
