Happy 40th Birthday to me! I’ve been celebrating for a few days. It’s been filled with great surprises. Today, I got the following tweet from Governor Palin:

So what have I been up to? I’m here in Missouri having a wonderful time with my friend, Kristi King. Kristi threw me a surprise bonfire birthday party Saturday with a special Palin cake–great food and great friends! Check out the pictures below. They didn’t come out very well in the dark, but you still get the picture–literally!

I got a kick out of how Gov. Palin chose to frame that big 4-0 (LOL…): Reminded me of how I greeted by dear sweet late husband John on the occasion of his 78th B’day: “Happy 39th anniversary celebrating your 39th birthday!” (Not sure if you’re old enough to remember an iconic old-time comedian from the mid-20th century, who also had a popular TV show, Jack Benny; but one of his running gags, when people asked his age was to always say, “39!” So, when he turned 78, even that became somewhat of a running gag to those who always laughed at the dead-pan way he famously delivered that famous line. Guess ya hadda be there, as they say…)
