In a brief interview with Bill O’Reilly, on July 9, 2010, Gov. Palin outlined how she would handle illegal immigration if she were president. Gov. Palin said her first priority would be to secure the border. She would require illegal immigrants already here to register with the federal government. Those who did not comply would be deported if caught. Throughout the interview and over O’Reilly’s constant interruptions, she emphasized that law-breaking should not be rewarded or encouraged, and that American citizens should be given first priority for job hiring.

In her interview with Money Rocks on Fox Business, on July 9, 2010, Gov. Palin discussed how our nation is on a path to insolvency with its deficit spending now at $13 trillion and climbing. She dismissed a proposed tax on all transactions as ridiculous and counter-productive. She described how Obama’s lack of business experience is misinforming his policies. With the Gulf Spill now over 80 days along, Gov. Palin described how the Obama administration is shirking its responsibilities over this accident which occurred in federal waters. She said the administration could “with the stroke of a pen” permit shallow-water drilling and drilling in ANWR, both of which are much safer than drilling in waters over a mile deep.

Gov. Palin said the Obama administration with its moratorium on off-shore drilling and fighting the courts is capitalizing on this crisis to promote its anti-drilling agenda. She viewed his visit to a Kansas City electric car plant as a prelude to shoving cap and tax down our throats. “What cap and tax is going to do is adversely impact every segment of our society, of our culture, of our economy, because energy touches every single thing that we do and consume in America, and to have a tax on energy is going to be extremely burdensome to our families and businesses,” Gov. Palin said. She predicted that cap and tax would result in the loss of hundreds of thousands of high-paying blue collar jobs. When asked “is there a light at the end of this tunnel?”, Gov. Palin responded, “darn right there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and I can see it from my house! It’s called the mid-term elections in November. Because, we need to slow down this agenda of Obama’s and Pelosi’s and Reid’s. The only way to do that is to hire people in Congress who will cast the votes to slow down this fundamental transformation of America that is putting us on the path to energy dependence on foreign countries and insolvency with our own economy.”
