Sarah Palin: Thank Todd Tiahrt for True Public Service

Posted by Ron Devito on June 24, 2010

Governor Palin today endorsed Todd Tiahrt for Senator of Kansas, via Facebook Note.

I’m happy to endorse Todd Tiahrt’s campaign to be the next U.S Senator from Kansas. Todd is a protector of our Constitution, a pro-family, pro-Second Amendment Commonsense Conservative who has never voted for a tax increase and has fought to end the wasteful spending coming out of Washington. He didn’t just stand on the sidelines complacently, but instead actually battled against the bailouts, the debt-ridden stimulus spending, the cap-and-tax energy schemes, and Obamacare. In fact, remember on the day Obamacare was being debated, Todd Tiahrt was on the House floor all day working to defeat it, and he’s helped lead the charge to repeal and replace Obamacare the moment it was signed into law. We can count on Todd to take on the liberal spending agenda of the Obama administration and fight for lower taxes, more individual freedom, and less government intrusion.

Please join me in supporting Todd Tiahrt’s campaign by visiting his website at www.ToddTiahrt.com and following him on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. I was very disappointed that Sarah endorsed Todd Tiahrt. I am a Kansan, and I have to wonder who convinced her that Tiahrt is going to help stop spending. He is a huge lover of pork and earmarks and is running a very disingenuous campaign against Jerry Moran.
Full disclosure – I am a member of SarahPac – I signed up for $25 a month to go to SarahPac for two years. I also support Jerry Moran.

What’s sad about this is that both Congressman Tiahrt and Congressman Moran are good, conservative public servants, at least when it comes to social issues. But Tiahrt is a big spender. And he gets earmarks for people and businesses which have given his campaigns big money. Tiahrt also has little to no interest in the Military Veterans here in Kansas, which has 3 military bases. Jerry Moran does consult with Veterans on Veterans issues.

I have been horribly disgusted by the out and out lies that Tiahrt’s campaign advertising is promulgating about Jerry Moran. I have questioned Tiahrt about overburdensome regulations and bureaucrats making rules that are just choking business, and he did not really have an answer about what he might do to reduce that.

For me, spending, earmarks and pork are huge issues. I thought they were also huge issues for Sarah, and I am tremendously disappointed in this decision of hers.

It is not necessary to agree with Governor Palin on everything. I can think of one particular instance in which a supporter turned against her over one of her endorsements. It turned out that there were misconceptions about Rand Paul’s stance on pro-life issues. Rev. James Dobson later endorsed him also.

Governor Palin sees the big picture, and many different considerations go into her endorsements. She also has access to information that we may not have. She has already done an amazing amount of good for our country by standing up and speaking out on important issues. If she tried to please everyone, she would wind up pleasing no one. Governor Palin has earned our trust, and she deserves our loyalty. We have to leave her decisions to her and trust that she has the well-being of our country uppermost in those decisions.
